what i meant by domestic market is the Local Dealerships.like Honda, Toyota, Nissan etc....

where people could buy imports of the same models for heaps cheaper.

so SEVS rule does have its advatages

local dealerships import cars under the same rules as private importers, which means prices are more competitive, etc.

basically they have auctions at the wharves when the cars land, and everyone takes part, dealerships, secondhand car yards and private punters.

its an awesome system. SEVS has nothing on it.

well could be possible

the car market in USA is alot larger than it is in australia. i wouldnt be suprised if they have more....

remember.......australia only has 21,000,000 in population. compared to USA's 320,000,000.

another country that has a high number of imports is New Zealand...

apparently they never had the SEVS rule... where you could openly import any type of vehicle....even if there are local models.....

which in turn i recall, financially damaging their own economy and domestic car market.

nuh Aus still outnumbers USA for skylines as they hav tighter restrictions on importing them there...but seriously u spot a skyline at least every 30mins in australia at least in sydney and melbourne...not sure bout otha states

In 98 NZ got rid of their tariff tax on imported cars i think only ones from Japan so all Jap imports became heaps cheaper. All NZ car makers closed down 20,000 jobs lost including mine (spraypainter @ Nissan :P ). I think there are more skylines in Oz but percentage wise you cant go past NZ. You see a skyline every minute literally..

yeah of course in NZ a V35 can be had for $10k.

are there even many local car sellers now? Would think there can't be that many, not that there was much of a domestic market anyway so they may as well concentrate on something their good at like sheep ;)

if you read what i wrote previously in this thread......

what you said was EXACTLY what i was trying to tell people.....

but everyone just said "nah...oz......nah oz.........nah oz..........."

just because we see the cars here.......doesnt mean anywhere else doesnt have them.

yeah poor NZ during that period./...

    • That looks good, but I think you're going to need much beefier side skirts now.
    • They are daft and there's a reason it never caught on. Steering feel? We don't need no stinking steering feel!
    • I gotta pull you up on this. It's driving me crazy. A shutter is something that closes, like over a window or in a cmera. The word you want is shudder. That LSD is clearly f**ked. Take it to a diff shop and get it disassembled and examined by an expert. YOu might have plates welded together or something equally crazy.
    • Define "starting to fail". Wy not just rebuild them?
    • Check the Nistune doco. There are a few assumptions being made here that might not be valid. I will list the things that occur to me: Base map. Base map for what? Base map for Z32? Then the cranking pulse width is probably wrong for an RB25. The extra 500cc of capacity might well be enough to prevent it from catching. Base map for RB25? I don't think you can load one of those into a Z32. You have to just make the settings correct for an RB25 in the Z32 base map. That is either K or the TIM to get the pulsewidth right. Loom. You bought a loom for an RB. And you plugged it into a Z32 ECU. Did you make sure that any iwre differences were swapped. From memory, there's at least a couple. And as per the others, I would suggest making sure that the fuel pressure is correct while cranking and that the injectors are actually flowing as expected. They really must come out and go on the bench, unless you do find that you have messed up as per above points. I would also suggest watching in Nistune to make sure that everything is reading correctly. That the correct binary flags are raised at the right time (like the crank signal), that there's no stupid values in K or TIM. That you have not got mismatched firmware for the ECU and/or a wrong image loaded.
