Taso84
Reference: http://www.theage.com.au/national/excop-na...uup.html?page=1 For those of you not following the Saga, to cut a long story short: The (ex) head of the Police union: Mullet and the ex assistant commissioner (Ashby) have been charged with perjury and misleading the OPI (office of police integrity). These charges relate to the questioning of these individuals by the OPI regarding the police leaking of a police informants name to Melbourne's underworld which subsequently led to the murder of the informant and his wife. A former detective has been charged with this murder. The latest in this saga (see link) is that Ashby has alleged that a Govt frontbencher Pallas knew of the OPI investigation and warned him not to speak to mullet over the phone. Fellow Victorians out there be warned: YOUR POLICE FORCE IS NOT TO BE TRUSTED. These are the real criminals. If it goes as high as the assistant police commissioner (2nd top cop) then how can you trust the local senior sergent. "Uphold the right"??!! "Uphold our bank accounts" more like it! These guys say they are concerned about road trauma and safety, pfft that's just political spin, to uphold their image in the eyes of the mass media hypnotised public. I fear far more for my and my family's safety from thugs within Victoria Police than from characters such as Mich Gatto and bikie gangs. I say if the states can't run it give it to the Feds. Get rid of the state police force and hand over the job to Federal police. Vic police should be disbanded. Let the Feds step in and show em how its done. Catch the real criminals aka Vic Pol. end rant Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/264504-police-corruption-aided-by-political-corruption/ Share on other sites

Phantom32
not exactly sure how high your argument is gonna be upheld...altho interestingly enough, i had to go to Melbourne Magistrates court couple weeks ago with a mate to accompany him to his driving case, and i couldn't help but notice that 90% of all cases that are now heard in court are all driving related, if not more. And i couldn't help thinking - our entire system has turned from one that upholds the course of justice amongst the ppl to one big revenue making machine that jumps pumps money out of the public for the most ridiculous of things. The police, courts and media seem to be there as the 'bells and whistles' to make all these charges 'official' and 'law abiding' but all it is, is one big hefty procedure to make it unquestionable and un-challengable its late, i can't sleep and i dunno if that makes any sense....MEH... Catch the real criminals aka Vic Pol. end rant ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- This POST should be closed down 'Rant' is a correct description for this type of crap - a totally illogical and irrational mix of some truth, half-truth, nonsense, prejudice, and stupidity leading to an unworkable proposal - just for one example, you would need all the States to agree to amend the Australian Constitution for a Federal police take-over of policing in any state and that could only take place after a referendum within Victoria where the people vote for change of the State Constitution. Aahh but everythings oh so simple when you do not the even to bother to think about the real world including the law and the Constitution - has the sponsor of the post ever heard of the Constitution and even understand what it is and why it exists? But I think we get the drift of the agenda..................so we should all be humble to common criminals and pay people like the person you named in good terms, Mr Gatto and bikie gangs, bribes and protection money just to go about our daily lives ? Don't think so! Maybe some people want to make Australia more like Beirut or Somalia etc but I am confident the majority are pleased as it now is despite some imperfections from time to time. KezR33
I think the majority of the Police force are pretty decent people just trying to do a job, but... I have personally experienced police corruption, and it very nearly messed my life up. Iron Chef
So people complain when 'hoons' ruin it for all motoring enthusiasts with the press , yet suddenly ALL police are corrupt? How do you think all the honest cops feel about the coverage of this incident?? A few bad apples are spoiled, doesn't mean the whole bunch is. Munkyb0y
but when a few bad apples happen to be so high and influencial they definately have a heavy sway on the acceptable basic conduct of many. of course not all cops are corrupt/bad. but Vic cops have got to have the most power tripping, law breaking, down right untrustable lot in the country. GTAAAH
considering it goes that high up i'd venture to say more than a few are.. Think about it, cops are just people, if someone offered me ludicrous amounts of money to turn the other way or forget/lose something i would.. mind you that might just make me an arsehole You see heaps of lesser examples of it on this site with all the people getting defected and treated unfairly just because some cops had a bad day or is a holden/ford fan Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/264504-police-corruption-aided-by-political-corruption/#findComment-4521999 Share on other sites

racin8
NOt sure that they are all corrupt...they just dont have their priorities right.... in a half hour drive you will see plenty with their radar guns on the side of the road or parked at the bottom of hills, on overtaking lanes etc.... booking people for anything and everything. Just to fill their quota.... but call them urgently because you have apprehended a burgular in your own house and it takes them 45min to get there ( true story 3 of us had to pin the bloke for 45min whilst his accomplice climbed out an upstairs window and fled and we waited and waited and waited) Not only that ....the bloke is caught red handed goes to court (4th offence) and gets nothing but a suspended sentence and a slap and is let out back on the street to do it again..... If you drive 5km over the limit you get fined and demerit points which can result in loss of licence, means loss of job, means defaulted mortgage payments means loss of house In the end you may as well break into people homes and steal I mean at least until you get caught a few times.... racin8
ummm how do you know they werent attending to a murder or something.. ? They do have more than one patrol car you know....Its just most of them are on traffic duty and when you call them and report that you are holding the bloke you expect a quick response Had they taken any longer they would have been attending a murder....... as I have no sympathy for scum who steal.... and when you come home to find your house trashed and the smack head still in your lounge filling his bags with everthing he can get his filthy hands on and then threatens you with a screwdriver if you dont move out of the way...... I challenge anyone not to give the bloke a good beating. and had I know that he would get off......it would have been a severe beating.
