hey everyone im new on this so yep its my first time on this forum. i have an issue with my skyline with the head lights cover that its very dirty and has foggy stains from the insides of the head light cover, im just wondering how do i get rid of and clean it. i tried to see if you can take of the head light cover but i think its just one big piece and you cant. so if can somebody help me thats would be excellent

assuming it is similar to the 32 headlight. And I think it should be.

You can put it in the oven (seriously). What I did when I had to open my headlight was.

- Put aluminum foil in tray/grill

- Pre-heat the oven to 180c (without the headlight in it)

- TURN OVERN OFF

- Place headlight in the tray for approximately 5 mins

- The sealant should be soft enough for you to open up the headlight using a screw driver.

Now, there is probabaly some clips holding the over on the outside, so be sure to remove those 1st before you put in the oven. Also besure to remove all the wire and globe...etc

whats the best way to take the headlights off without breaking the clips that hold the lights in place.....

as for the headlight

there are products to clean it. but with plastic......you will notice that there might be hairline cracks when you look at it in the light.

there are no cracks in the head light thats 100% so ill try the plastic cleaner for sure and give that a go and will see what happens... hopefully that will fix the foggy headlights cross fingers.

its on the outside... we do it at work all day every day

we make them come up literally as good as theyll ever get which is damn good!!!!

do not put them in the oven theyre totally different to r32 as what as has been suggested above

i use an RO polisher with paint polish to correct my headlights.

Edge green pad with Menzerna IP 3.01 does the trick.

If you have access to someone who can detail cars, just mask up around the headlight and polish it with a machine and paint polish.

get mcguires plast-x and scrub the hell out of the outsides.... you'll be surprised what this stuff can do

so all you did was just use a rag and the plastic polish and scrub the hell out of it was it...

From the latest HPI magazine (No. 106) there is an article on the exact thing you're after I believe.

unfortunately i dont

this was years ago... look up glass glaziers...

some of them can actually mould a shape if you can send them the plastic headlight

give the polish a try...

i recall there was a comparison test with plastic vs glass in headlights and plastic aftermarket headlight shields sold, particularly for off road 4wds... and with plastic.. 5% of light is actually lost.

    • Just trying to get my head around this. At 5psi of boost, you turn on your wmi pump, and then you're using a 3000cc injector, to allow flow upto the actual engine, where you have your 6x200cc injectors and a 500cc injector. If the above is correct, what advantage are you obtaining by having the 3000cc injector blocking flow, is this just incase a line breaks between that injector and the motor you can stop flow immediately? Or are the 6x200cc and 500cc less injectors and just spray nozzle?
    • Welcome! New member myself, but I had an R33 back in 2002. Best advice I could give, based on my experience: if you're running the factory turbo, be very conservative with boost. I made the mistake of just fiddling around with the boost controller and cranking the boost for fun, and the end result was my intake pipes popping off frequently from the constant deluge of oil that was being blown into the recirc by the stressed-out turbo, which itself was siphoning oil from the engine and farting it out both sides of its centre bearing (or something to that effect). If I could do it all again, I would have gotten a new turbo and had a tune dialled in professionally and then just left it alone! Funny you mention the metal shavings in the gearbox, as I had the same thing - the probe plug (magnetic drain plug, essentially) would come out caked with shavings. At least it was doing its job. Not sure if that's just sacrificial wear and part of the deal, or if my gearbox was shagged, but I wasn't abusing it. Enjoy the R33 - they're a dying breed, and if they weren't $35k+ on CarSales in Queensland, I might have picked up one of those again, instead of the 370GT I own now (though I'm loving the 370GT, that big 3.7L V6 just hits different).
    • Howdy folks. I owned an R33 back in 2002, which was thoroughly beyond my capacity (financially speaking) to maintain/insure, so we parted ways in 2004. Fast forward 21 years (to literally yesterday, in fact) and I'm now the proud owner of a 2007 V36 370GT. I'm happily surprised by how much power the VQ37VHR makes, compared to the RB25DET, considering the latter is turbocharged. I had planned to add a turbo at some point but I'm on the fence about whether I'll even need it (though I do love the sudden onset of extra torque). Any other 370GT owners around the traps, I'd love to hear about your experiences with this car (good and bad).
