i had an interesting conversation with an old mate today who i havent seen for a while. When he saw my car he said something like: "awesome, you can cruise around listening to eminem and dmx" or something like that.

i have been noticing a trend lately that hip hop and rap is associated with imports. ive got nothing against hip hop and rap, some of its good, but im a true doof doof person. ive even got some 'so your one of those hoons' remarks from people when i say i like to listen to the doof doof music.

ive always associated imports with doof doof music ever since a few years ago. i think it might be to do with the LA culture that has come over here. the fast and furious movies only used hip hop and rap in both the soundtracks and i constantly get people saying to me, namely my sister, to "be cool" and cruise around with hip hop blaring which she so often puts on, much to my annoyance.

whats everyones thoughts on this? im not bashing hip hop/rap or anything, ive always thought of imports having doof doof music, thats all.

depends, its cultural :D

crusing around with metallica or something always freaks a few people out when they see my sort of car pull up :D, then again i can be listening to rap or some psi-trance as well another minute .. led zep another. all depends on my mood i think.

actually have no idea what people think, neither do i care.. i don't like people looking at my car, freaks me out actually.

yeah i agree, i can be listening to totally different stuff all the time. but i have noticed that people who dont own imports (at least the ones ive met, or know) just assume that i drive around listening to rap, and because i listen to trance and prog music, then im labelled a hoon and they think i spend all my time driving up and down chapel st on friday and sat nights. i have done it once tho. u have to :D

im like pred... i have music moods... some days i'll drive listening to creed then i might chuck some santana on or maybe even some phat ass breaks from Plump DJs and Adam Freeland. I even have a CD with sinatra, NWA, Metallica, Marilyn Masnon and Al Green to name a few on it :D

hmm step into my car... I've got Initial D music pumpin hehehe either that or one of the MOS Chillout session CD's.

Then there's my oldschool hip hop/r&b (1990-2001) collection which gets played... coz frankly the stuff comin out of the industry right now sucks hardcore.

Then theres days where I blast prodigy while stuck in rush hour, and then there's days when Linkin Park have a go at my system.

Yes I'm a moody music player too

i listen to the seasame street album while i drive around

helps the little children stare at my car when i drive past the primary skools

hahaha

the they hear the boost and the go "wikid"

my rant for the month

Im more of a hip hop listener and love to cruize wit music such as Jarrasic 5, and usually wen my foot feels a bit heavy im listening to something bit more aggressive like 2pac, Ice Cube, Dr Dre, Mack 10 etc...

Although Im not a "Doof Doof" hater either as I got a couple of cd's, I even have ub40 on cd and a Dean Martin tape hehe

finally some one i can relate to, hat comes off to you pred.

i think its more to do with ethnicity and social background than it is to do with car. Like us northie guys all drive around with doof doof and rap in the glovebox for the perfect situation... irrespective of holden or nissan or subaru...

I am not going to mention any artists or band names cause I listen to just about anything and everything - as most of you guys - depending on my mood. I listen to pretty much every band listed above and others too.

Being a DJ I have thousands and thousands of albums / singles / CD's / tapes / etc...most of which are NOT internet downloads :D These range from 1950's to now :D Been buying vinyl since 1987 and transfer most stuff to CD - what I really need is a MP3 stacker, yes I know they are available...

what i was actually going to say was, generally rnb / rap makes me more chilled when cruisin & fast tempo music - be it agro grunge or dance beats make me put the foot down :D

    • @GTSBoy This method was able to get readings of -10 to -2, so it looks like its monitoring.  Now I need to figure out why the vacuum on the line provided isn't alternating with manifold pressure.  I went with 2 lines that an RB25 tuner recommended but I'll get a longer hose and try directly off the back of the manifold.  He may have been used to OEM intake setups while I have a DBW setup that removed the MAF and IACV.
    • I work at a car detailing and tinting shop called Quark which gets all manner of German cars in usually (mainly due to a contract with Mercedes Benz Kita Osaka, BMW Nishinomiya and others) but every once in a while something special comes in, like a fully restored 1972 HS30 Nissan Fairlady 240ZG... The shop owner had immediately started applying film to the windows as soon as it was in the shop so the interior was completely covered in towels and plastic sheets. But I could get a few photos of the engine bay which was restored like new. Such an amazing car to see in pristine condition in Japan these days.
    • Was going to say the car pulls up nicely everywhere, especially going into that last long right hander before the main straight. Looks like a lot of fun.
    • Hey Dave, welcome aboard! Good to see another soon-to-be Stagea owner here. The wagons are awesome — plenty of space, still got that Skyline DNA, and loads of potential if you’re into mods. Definitely post up pics when you get it, everyone here loves seeing new builds. What model/year are you looking at?
