Had the same thing happen to me around 20yrs ago, early morning, going to work, wet road, crest of a hill and a truck.

I swerved missed the truck, clipped a tree and flattened off the entire l/h/s of my wagon.

No witnesses, no admission of guilt, no damage to the truck...If i'd hit him I'd have had a case, but at what cost?

I'd totally forgen about that...no rage like old rage ROAR!

cause i drive trucks every day. try driving your car for 10 hours.. im not sure if youve noticed the stop every two hours cause fatigue kills advertising.. of course not.. your too busy being very cautious on the roads.. which cause more accidents then a normal driver driving.

So have you actually done anything about it?

Col that sucks mate. Is there anything you can do when something like that happens? I've had it happen to me in my skyline as well. But it was a twit of a woman in an EL falcon driving all over the loose stuff on the highway. I was just glad it was the windscreen and not a headlight or something...

Its ok, Im just happy it did the damage to the windscreen and not the panel work...

My insurance allows for one windscreen per year with no excess or increase to policy... :/

You know what, if a truck driver drives for 10 hours a day just to meet deadlines yet is falling asleep at the wheel or is too distracted due to driving for such a long period, then he is at fault, regardless of whether he has deadlines or not.

Naturally that also depends on other vehicles involved but think about it, meet deadlines vs avoid killing people, its tough yes, but at the end of the day it is in their hands.

It sucks that most truck drivers get tarred with the same brush, but at the end of the day it isn't a minority causing problems on the road, its a majority, and the sad thing is, so many truck drivers (not attacking anyone here) are dumb people and lack common sense, i can say that because i work with them everyday and it can get stupidly irritating to talk to them for more than 2 minutes at a time.

I've had my fair share of incidents with truckies, nearly gotten run into a wall coming home from bris airport becuase he didn't want to slow down and let me infront from a merging lange when i was already 3/4's of the way up the length of the truck already ( had to flat stick it to get past becuase i seriously don't think i had time to slow down, and of course the douchbags are lookin at each other laughing and crap)
Come on. I'm not standing up for him.
If you read my reply, you'll see I agreed that he didn't see you.
BUT that's not much use to you if you're DEAD.
Wake up.
I'm not wasting any more time here, obvious you're on the organ donor list but you just haven't realised it.

Mate, obviously you didn't look at what times our posts were posted. I wasn't even replying to you....

And if you read my first post you would have read when I said the only reason that I was able to avoid having an accident was because I was on my BIKE. If I was in my car I may well have not been sitting here right now, but rather in a hospital bed or worse.

It seems that yourself and other truckies are a little to happy using the 'bikes are hard to spot' line as an excuse rather than being extra vigilant at all times as you are supposed to be.

Oh and secret6 - I have driven cars for 12, 14, 16 hours and more at a time on quite a few occasions. Driving interstate from Brisbane to Adelaide and other places. Damn trucks are the ones that have caused me any grief on those drives as well.... Ie me doing 105 in a 100 zone with a Semi sitting right up my ass. Not clever driving that is it? So what do I do? Pull over and let the dickhead with his 10 hour deadline and I'll smash anyone who gets in my way attitude past.

My windscreen needs to be replaced after yesterday thanks to a truck out the back of yarraman (near blackbutt)...

He strayed off the edge of the tarmac into the rocks and bang, smashed windscreen at 110kph...

I was pissed to say the least... :D

You might mean "MC" licence... :)

There are 4 levels;

* LR (Light rigid)

* MR (Medium rigid)

* HR (Heavy rigid)

* MC (Multi combination)

Correction col there are actually five type of licences.There is also HC which is heavy combination, this one comes before MC but after HR.

As with your windscreen i have heard of if you do get a truck flick up a stone they can in some instances be payed for by the truckie or the company,all you got to do is record there rego ,company details (which is written usually on the truck somewhere)and give em a call.seen this happena few times.

Jase i do feel for you when it comes to being cut off from one of these big machines , i have so a few times, but go jump in one with someone and see how easy it is to drive one,they aint that easy man, and some of them have a bad blind spots.

Its ok, Im just happy it did the damage to the windscreen and not the panel work...

The beauty of shannons :) ,Good to get a free windshield every year.

Yeah I just see that now...

Its an weird licence, its normal HR plus the following clause;

"a specially constructed vehicle weighing more than 8 t GVM with or without a trailer"

So its for over sized HR trucks with a combined weight over 8t empty...

Best I can think of is like the special single trailer trucks which carry the huge mining vechicle tyres out west...

The beauty of shannons :D ,Good to get a free windshield every year.

Im not with shannons, but yeah many insurance company's provide a wind screen replacement in their policy for free...

Like I said im just happy it didnt hit the cars bonnet first...

past two years mark.. Much better job than the last.. except have to deal with tossers on the road.. haha..

This thread has lost its novelty now.. its all about i'm so way too careful on the road, i shouldn't have to take note of what other people are doing.. cause i'm driving way to careful and they should see that, so they shouldn't have an accident with me. Sounds like you really drive a volvo honestly.

Sorry.. i should stick on topic..

SO.. did you actually do anything? or you've just kept it here..?

I've been to the cop shop here 3 times and there hasn't been a cop there once! lol. Beauty of living in a small town I guess. I don't have loads of spare time to sit down there waiting for them to get back to their station either.

The last time I went though I did speak to the administration and was told that because I didn't have a witness to the incident that there isn't much the cops can do. I left my details and the rego of the truck and was told an officer would contact me, but that hasn't happened yet either. Seems like if there's not a buck to be made they don't really give a crap unfortunately.

I guess I'll try again after work and see how I go.

That's not a bad idea actually. I'll give the cops one more go first though. They are actually usually pretty good out here in general so I can't complain too much...

    • Thanks mate, couldn't find in VIC, ended up ordering one from NSW, getting rwc to get new plates and registration done.
    • Before all the EFR fan boys come in, have a look at: https://www.garrettmotion.com/racing-and-performance/performance-catalog/turbo/g-series-ii-g30-825-58mm/ It also comes in a T4 1.06 divided housing. I would dare say if you want response & also decent power, this thing would chop. AND apologies, just re-read your post, you've already bought the turbo... whatever you do, make sure you stick with divided housing and proper twin scroll manifold.
    • People have got to stop doing that. ShatGPT is not a search engine. It is a hallucination factory. I also would recommend the 1.05. The .83 will "work" for you , in that it will be more responsive, but I think you'll find that it won't be anywhere near as good running it out to 8000rpm as the big housing will be.
    • Decided for the first time ever I would tow my car TO the track day on the same working theory as bringing tools and spares "if I have it I wont need it, but if I leave it behind i will 100% need it" all setup and ready to go out and try these A050 for the first time First session showed I needed to stiffen up the dampers a touch but still managed a few 1:21's without much effort. things were looking good. Came in a dropped the tyres down to 26/28 as they had gotten to 35/33C from 22C cold The first lap of session two I managed to drop into 1:20's. Then in the second lap into the second session. Coming into T3 and I suddenly lost brake pedal followed by some huge rear end vibrations and scraping sounds. Got it back into the pits after session ended and found this. in the attached video, all of the wobble is in the hub its self, wheel is mint, and bearing feels tight. lKXLqpd - Imgur.mp4 Deciding it was a bent spindle I tried to find bearing/hub assembly locally but was unsuccessful so it was loaded back onto the trailer i luckily brought it on to drag it back home
