Hey Guys,

Is anyone heading to this round?

I'm not sure if I'll be in Tokyo, Kyoto or Osaka. hopefully it's an easy place to get to.

any idea of Ticket price?

I've done a few searches, is there any other motor sport events between 18th to 30th June?

will be my first trip to Japan - can't wait!!!!

Cheers

If Okayama Circuit is at Okayama, it's a bit further west than what you think (west a couple hours from Osaka by bullet train).

Oh, it's on Motoracing japan, there is a Google Map there...

There's not much on during those dates you posted, SuperGT is at Sepang then and Super Taikyu, D1SL, MSC, JDDA drags etc all falling outside those dates.

Okayama circuit is fairly easy to get to, and on the days they have big events there's usually a shuttle bus from the closest station to the circuit called "JR Yoshinaga" (JR Okayama station is past JR Yoshinaga by quite a distance so don't go to JR Okayama by shinkansen if you can help it, you'll just be doubling back).

JR Yoshinaga google map

You can get a train from Osaka (Umeda) or Kobe that goes out to Himeji but you'll have to change trains to a local one to get to JR Yoshinaga. It's fairly easy though and if you have trouble just wave a map with Okayama circuit on it at any station I'm sure the staff will help you out. The shuttle bus from JR Yoshinaga to the circuit may or may not be running so you might be up for a 15 - 20 minute taxi ride. If so keep the map handy because you'll need it to explain to the non-English speaking driver where you want to go... Yoshinaga is about as small as towns get.

thanks for the comments.

think i'll now be in Kyoto around those dates. sounds like it's a bit of a trip from there but i'm keep to give it a bash.

I'd much prefer to see SuperGT, maybe next time

btw, approx how much is the entry? and i assume it's easy to buy tickets at the gate on the day?

The Okayama round 3 info isn't up yet, but if the Odaiba exhibiton round ticket prices are anything to go by, they start at 5,500yen and go up from there depending on which area you sit in.

Coming from Matsuyama, its about 2hrs 45mins to JR Okayama. Would I need to keep going PAST Okayama to hit JR Yoshinaga? Or will it be before I hit Okayama (coming via local train from Matsuyama/Shikoku)?

How far out of Okayama is it time-wise via train?

I might check it out if its not too difficult to get to.

As Rezz said its pretty easy to get to- but don't be scared when you get off the train in the middle of nowhere. The only thing I would be careful of is the shuttle bus. Give the Circuit a quick call or shoot them an email. They will have a bus on Sunday for sure but check about Saturday.

R-Sanyon and I made this mistake once (Super GT round on Saturday "Yeah, they will have a shuttle bus for sure"- stupid me) lucky for us that an hour into our walk a guy in a Chaser picked us up and took us to the circuit.

Have fun

In that case yes, you'll have to go past JR Okayama to get to JR Yoshinaga. You're taking a local train from Matsuyama?? I'm not at all familiar with the services out there, but isn't there ferry or express train you could take?

No shinkansen to Shikoku, only local trains service here. Ferries will be slower, and likely more expensive. Don't think Okayama has a port neither.

So where would I look to purchase them from? Is there a website to purchase from?
Best place is here http://l-tike.com/oc/sports/d1/

I usually get them from the Lawson's convenience store

To be honest you are too far away to do it. Unless you are going to change your bookings I wouldn't worry about it.

I'm aware of all that, it just sounds odd that your only option is a local train... it'll take a lifetime to get there.

It is an express train. Not the shinkansen. One or two below it in speed. Like I said before, there are no shinkansen on or servicing Shikoku. After all, it is the least populous of the 4 main islands... Okayama is hardly far. When its 11 hours to Tokyo, Okayama seems awful close...

I didn't read that you were on Shikoku... it would be an early start but you can do it

On board for 200 minutes (Traveling for 227 minutes)

One-way fare:7,370 yen Distance:248.3 km

05:07am Matsuyama(Ehime) Shiokaze No.4 06/27/2009

08:18am Okayama San-Yo Line [36min.] 33.9km

08:54am Yoshinaga

Thanks for the info. I'll definitely head down there. I was in Okayama yesterday for training, so I'm used to traveling long distance throughout West Japan. It's kind of unavoidable really. Times like this, I wish I had a set of wheels though... Would make the trip a lot more memorable! If only AEON would let us teachers own cars :)

    • Harness is for a s1 Rb25det, and it is engine and lower harness.  the old harness had broken off plugs and was in very rough condition/exposed wires and splices etc. it is not able to be put back on the car, I could visually inspect to see if they had rewired any pins on the ecu plug. The fuel pump definitly isn’t turning off it’s an external pump and very loud you can hear it. Will look at the other harness tonight, am also going to pull the fuel rail and watch the injectors spray, will update here with what I find. Pretty sure at this point it has to be something to do with injectors because car will fire up on starting fluid and cas is clicking the Injectors. Fuel pressure is steady 43psi
    • Check the injectors flow evenly, and are actually flowing what you and the ECU think they should be flowing. If it's starting up on starter fluid, you have a fuel issue. Is it possible under cranking your fuel pump is turning off?   The harness you replaced, is that the whole engine harness? Do yourself a test, and drop the old harness on and plug it into the Z32 ECU. It's possible they've wired things different. From memory S1 to S2 is different in RB25 and you may have a wrong loom
    • I haven’t pulled the injectors to watch them spray yet but they are clicking from the cas and all of the spark plugs are wet with fuel. I’ve thought the cylinders were being flooded from the beginning and was hoping fuel pressure would fix it. Tonight I am going to pull the rail and watch the injectors spray. Don’t know how to test/diagnose if the plugs are firing in correct sequence but that should be a timing thing and as far as timing goes my car still has the half moon for the cas can only install it 1 way. And my mechanical timing is 100% correct I posted photos above. Confirmed with the balancer on and off.
    • I checked spark on all cylinders and they all visually have spark with the plug pulled and grounded, but plug 1 is the only one that fouled. This was a running swap that blew up and was rebuilt by a machine shop, put a new wiring specialties harness and did all gaskets, studs, and bolts while it was out.  compression is 135-150 across all cylinders. Aside from that from my understanding with the z32 ecu and maf the car should start regardless. The wiring for TPS and the dual 02 sensor/ dual knock sensor stuff shouldn’t actually stop the car from starting or even running well, (just slightly rich)  they just give fault codes. Car supposedly is supposed to start as long as you have z32 afm and ecu with the nistune base map and that’s info coming from a well known and trusted tuner who does a lot with SR/RB (Rsenthalpy). After more trouble shooting today where I’m at right now is that the cas is sending signal to the injectors they click while spinning the rotor, Fuel pressure is now set at 43psi, all cylinders have good compression and all of the plugs looked great (just wet with fuel) except for cylinder 1 which was very black (cylinder 1 has 150psi compression). all of the coils generate spark if pulled out and grounded out on the head. On the fuel pump car just pops into the exhaust. On starting fluid car will fire off. Hard to tell if all cylinders are firing off but definitley a couple. sounds like all of them but it’s only for 3-5 seconds hard to tell.
