Well cage wont go in mine till xmas period anyway due to funds. So for now its harness and seat, then its till cage and external engine cut off last... still got to decide where to put that. Thinking just going the pull cord method instead of switch saves cutting holes.

hahah this is door to door racing remember....if you are not willing you get close enough to rub panels you might as well stick to super sprinting - its the getting close/direct competition that is the core of the excitement of racing. If you aren't willing to get close you will get eaten alive by your competitors who are.

And once you've tried it anything else on a race track will seem a little second rate.

POST OF THE FRIGGIN THREAD!!!!!!!!!

Seriously guys get off your arses grow some balls and do it,

If your worried about rules and regs get on the phone call a cage builder and Ask the question!

Its not going to cost you a fortune to set the car up ive said it before your driving WILL be the limiting factor to your success or failure!

In my oppinion if you need to be asking all kindas a questions and are worried about rubbing pannels etc they like Duncan said stick to supersprints where there is bugger all risk.

And seriously if your worried about cutting up a car to put a cage into it then you really should not be trying to door to door race it. If your in my way I will go under you into any turn and I dont mind you turning into my car, You on the other hand might have something to say about scratching your prefect paint job.

I binned my car into the wall at oran park a few meets ago, Decent hit green paint all over it. If your not prepared to bin the car and damage it then dont put yourself into that position!!

Perhaps a go kart would be a cheaper and more fruitfull option if your worried about your car??

The rules are not that strict your all getting worried about stupid shit that is nothing to be concerned about.

Who gives ashit about cams this and cams that. Get a cage and be done with it, I wear friggin undies and a race suit every meeting so who cares about thermal bullshit.

Your not racing for sheep stations your racing to learn the art more than anything.

GET OUT THERE AND DO IT

Not sure you your having a dig at here, first of all you tell us how good mra is and how we should get into it, then people post in here asking stuff, trying to get more info to help them get to MRA, and you say grow some balls and get out there, but you dont want to ruin your car so dont...

bit confused.

anyhoo - reason I havent done it yet is simple fact of FUNDS.

Not really a dig at anyone just frustration.

Its really not hard to get into, but when you get all wrapped up in the rules and analyise everything so much its really not nessisary. Just get it caged and go racing. Its budget entry level motorsport. Your not going to get raped by the scruits for not having a 3 layer/fireproof garment blah blah.

You dont need the most expensive seat or harness you need none of that just get out and learn to drive.

I realise there is funds issues I can appreciate that, your pretty much set to go chris the car is fine.

On the whole car thing its true Chris. I Read something about someone not wanting to damage a car, thats all well and good no one wants any damage but you gotta accept what your about to start doing and be prepared to excahnge paint if it happens.

Yer i am super keen and have been ever since i talked to Waldo.

I have been on a mission saving and spending my ass off trying to get my shit together so i can do the whole season next year. So far i have ordered about 1/3rd of the required parts no real exciting bits just wear and tear stuff, canceled my rego, purchased a car trailer and i pick up my new/second hand tow bitch tomorrow woohoo V8 Power hahaha.

Just need to make some room in the shed over the next few weeks then i will be flat out pulling her apart and sending it off to get some chassis work done and a full weld in cage put in. I am so excited. :P

I was hoping to take it to the Bulahdelah hill climb as its first outing but it will most likely be the SAU day at OP south.

Next year will kick ass, we will have Chubs, Ando, Brad and my self from SAU. Hell yer.

Fair Call, What I meant was re: damaging the the car, is that both mine and Andos are still registered, so cutting the dash was somthing I didnt want to do, however If it has to be done it has to be done, I dont care about body work as my car is look like its gone 10 rounds against George foreman.

The questions regarding the seats, Harnesses and suits...well...if you have a look at the MRA site there is no clear cut info on whether they could be a 30 dollar ebay 3 point harness or needed to be somthing decent.

What I didnt want to do was turn up to a round in the car and get turned away cause my seat isnt FIA approved etc.

I dont think ill be aloud to enter next year, Jay will be running campaining the same car I am currently using but I think somehow they will frown upon sub 60 second cars racing at this event.

Im looking to do the state sports sedan series instead next year. Or taking the year to build another space frame after Ive learnt from the current one im building.

Its funny you mention that Chris.

My old Grey GTR has just been on sold to someone else and im preparing it to run the MRA. Jay will be using my current GTR in the MRA and I may have another GTR in the pipe line that ill bring out to run sprints and MRA with. Depends on alot of things but yeah it may be a possiblity to have another car to use.

Plus there is old mate boz who's S13 were getting ready to go racing with too.

That will be a little ball tearer with him behind the wheel thats for sure

Atleast two of my ex cars will be competing

    • You just need to remove the compressor housing, not the entire turbo. I would not be drilling and tapping anything with the housing still on anyways.
    • So, I put my boat on a boat. First of all, I'm going to come out and say it. Why is Tasmania not considered a holy goal, an apex that all road-legal modified cars go to, to experience? This place is an absolute wonderland of titanic proportions. If people are already getting club runs for once in a lifetime 30 person cruises to Tassy then I've never seemed to see it. It is like someone replaced the entire place with an idyllic wonderland for cars, and all of the people living there with paid actors who are kind, humble, and friendly. Dear god. After doing a lap of almost all of the place I've found that it's a great way to find out all of the little things that the car isn't doing quite right and a great way to figure it all out. All in all, I drove for 4 hours a day for a week and nothing broke. I didn't even need to open the engine bay. This is by all means a great success, but it has left me with a list of things to potentially address. I also now have a 3D printed wheel fitment tool which annoyingly hasn't got any threads in it to actually assemble it. I might be able to tape it together to check the sizing I actually want to use, but it'll likely involving pulling the shocks out to properly measure travel at least at the front, and probably raise the car while I'm at it, at least in the rear. I scraped on quite a few things and I'm not sure how else to go about it. I was taking anything with a bump at what felt like 89 degree angles. And address those 10 other tasks. And wash the car. God damn it is dirty. And somehow, the weather was perfect the entire time - And because I was on the top of Mt Wellington it turns out it was very much about to freeze up there. I did something I typically never do and took some photos up there in what must have been -10 and the foggy felt like suspended ice, rather than mere fog. If you own a car in Australia, you owe it to yourself to do it.
    • Damn that was hilarious, and a bit embarrassing for skylines in general 😂 vintage car life ey. That R33 really stomped. Pretty entertaining stuff
    • Hi, I have a r32 gtr transmission. Does any of you guys have an idea how much power it will hold with the billet center plate and stock gearset? At what power level and use did yours brake with or without billet plate? Thanks, Oystein Lovik
    • Saw this replica police car based on a Mitsubishi Starion XX parked next to a 'police box' (it's literally a box) in Hirohata, Himeji City in Hyogo prefecture the other day. It's owned by Morii-san who is a local Mitsubishi Starion enthusiast. According to a local radio station blog post, he always wanted to make a police car himself based on ones he saw in his favourite Manga comics.  As it's illegal to modify a car to look like a police car and drive on the road, Morii-san tried many times to get permission from Aboshi police station headquarters nearby. They refused initially by after they got tired of that they granted him permission. However, the car can only be displayed on private property and obviously can't be registered as long as the police livery is present. The car was completed at a cost of 1.5 million yen (US$ 10,000) in addition to the car cost. A location was chosen outside Hirohata Police box where the car can easily been seen from the street. Morii-san has two other Starion road cars, both widebody GSR-VRs.
