I'll be putting around and clutch kicking second I think to start with.

A) Complete drift virgin as I've always been into grip driving (this whole letting the steering wheel spin thing is nuts to me)

B) CA18DET with minor mods wouldn't hold a slide in third without some decent entry speed that I won't have the skill to control :P

Can't wait to give it a bash though, should be a blast.

I'm crossing my fingers we all make it through the day with the only damage being to tyres

There is a beginners section that you can start in Dan and get some practice in before using the full track. The CA will have more than enough power to start off with :P Guys are out there sliding third gear through the front straights in atmo skylines and 4ac/4ag Ke70's so you should be fine.

It might even be wet this time of year which is where the CA will flourish.

I'll definitely have a go at third gear slides for sure and hopefully both the car and I survive the day as there's a fun day on the 4th then an SAU track day on the 18th of July (my birthday!)

The next month and a bit is gonna rule.

I also heard rumour of another SAU DECA day on August :P

I figured out why my car was so down on power and why the temps were so high last track day. The clutch fan was stuck, (not stuck on) but physically stuck on the radiator shroud and not turning at all! It was very lucky I didn't do a head gasket or that the fan didn't go through the koyo rad. Anyway this time around I have 180 at the wheels, I just hope the stock turbo holds up for the day, might take a spare one just in case

I'm all set to roll, got new turbo kit on and car was retuned on Wednesday! Will adjust the suspension once more when my new wheels arrive, hopefully they make it here from Japan before Winton

Should be a good day, more of SAU should enter!

That's crazy man. Pretty lucky ey. Suprising that it didn't make a noise.

Yeah extremely lucky. One of the blades was curled over and pressed hard up against the shroud, because of the bigger radiator the clearance was minimal to begin with, but i had to cut that particular blade just to get the fan off. The only sign that anything was wrong was that at the end of the day the alternator light was coming on.

Hmm I'm liking the sound of this twin thermo fan setup a few guys are running...

Also.. I might be onto a turbo :D (S15 BB)

No chance of having it fitted before the drift day though, should have it on for the SAU track day on the 18th of July :D

anyone know what place isnt to busy for a quick tune?

need retune or no winton :)

Give Trent a call at Status Tuning. He retuned my car on June 3rd and I only had to book about a week in advance. You should be able to get a booking.. maybe?

I'm a bit over the build process myself.

Let's see...

Bought some wheels with wrong PCD (was told by seller they were 114, they are clearly 100) which is a shame coz they are awesome wheels (someone buy them)

GT-R seats won't be here until Thursday or there abouts so little chance i can get them modded and in before the weekend.

My rotors arrived yesterday (S15 brake conversion up front, new pads and rotors all round) only to find that there's no rear rotors. So I'll have to wait until Wednesday or so for them to arrive, fingers crossed I get this done before the drifts.

Guy with a roll cage is stuffing me around, was hoping to have it in before the drifts, haven't even bought it yet.

The list goes on :)

All part of the game though, just can be a bitch trying to sort this stuff when you're working flat out during the day and have plenty on at night. (or have kids DVS...)

It's gonna rock though so I can't wait for when we do finally hit the track.

Yep it never ends.. I find alot of car part suppliers to be less than prompt once they have your money too :)

I can only work on my car once the kids are in bed (all 3 that is) so our garage time is minimal. Poor John comes home from a long day at work then goes straight out there and hasn't been getting to bed before midnight most nights.. Its like a crappy ground hog day atm.. Oh well im hoping nothing major goes wrong on the dyno today and then we can relax abit more..

Had a few hiccups with my the car on Friday..

The old aftermarket ecu didn't cope on the dyno with the new engine.. In the past 24hrs we've bought a z32 afm and wired in my pfc and omg the car started with the first turn of the key!

Will be back on the dyno later this coming week.. cars suck :(

Fwoar, big effort. Hope you're looking after him :P

hey dan looks like your silvia is coming along !

you probly don't even remember me, or want to know but some of the things i found out re: moding S13's

however, there are alot of cheap cage's available, but if you want cams approval you have to pay the $$$

ALSO one of the most important things i have to say about fitting a s15bb turbo, is make sure you fit a oil restrictor ! iv'e fitted a couple of these puppies to my s13's and i'm telling you to either get a custom oil feed line made for you from 1/8th hose, or fit a restrictor. And if you didn't buy your turbo with the alloy inlet and outlet adaptor pipes you need a adaptor kit and or t25 alloys bits depending on what you have.

i'm only saying this as i was positive i had mine sorted but now i have to pull stuff apart again. don't want to see anybody else make the same mistake.

1 of the reasons i can't attend this meet, unfortunetly i'm not coming.

oh and august deca looks like a pipe dream, i'm going to the SAU VIC general meeting on tuesday and i'll be pushing some buttons and or sacrificing my time to make it happin.

p.s if you have any questions about your s13 feel free to ask me. i won't bite your head off and i'm a mechanic so i have first hand knowledge.

    • There's restrictor pills in the stock boost control hoses. That's how they set the amount that was bled off and hence the "high" boost setting. The usual mod in the day was to remove it and send the "high" boost setting up to about 14 psi.
    • Thanks Duncan, that's the best info I've read. Furthermore after learning about the PCM programming side controlling the factory boost solenoid, the purpose of the solenoid is to "bleed" boost when pin 25 is earthed, thus allowing spring pressure in the wastegate actuator to overcome diaphragm boost pressure, thus closing or reducing the position of the wastegate flap creating more boost as the turbo is able to spin faster. It's pretty cool to see a designated Pill to do exactly this, would have liked to have seen it with a tiny filter over the end for those moments in vacuum.  The constant bleed pill has now been removed completely from the system and solenoid boost control has been restored once again.   Case closed 😂
    • The wideband reading is meaningless if it's not running. Why are you using shitty old sidefeeds on any engine, let alone a Neo? What manifold and fuel rail are you using to achieve that? Beyond that, can't help you with AEM stuff as I've never been their ECU/CAS combo.
    • Manual boost controllers (where a little of the boost was bled off) were quite common back in the day, because they were cheap and easy. Generally they had a manual adjustment screw rather than being fixed like yours. Down side is they always bleed boost, not just when you want them to so an electronic boost controller that uses a solenoid will have less lag.
    • Hello , im new here and i have A31 home build  RB25det neo stock eng / turbo  aem ems 2 blue connector  aem 3.5 map aem cas disk aem wideband connected to ecu  355 lph pump 550 nismo yellow injectors side feed aftermarket regulator  and won’t start with base aem tuner basic tune eventually flipped cas 180 degree so it triggers on correct stroke not in exhaust cycle  Now it won’t start Wideband reads 10 and 11 at lowest fuel setting  and will share calibrations soon for aem tuner i think something is wrong in aem tuner    please if you have any information, am very grateful
