Quote for a S2 stagea auto drive in/out including supply, install and tune will be around $750 mine will be booked in very shortly and i will supply b4 and afters to let you know how it goes. what does the the nistune chip do ?

like a piggy back comp ?

the nistune chip sits in the stock ecu (so totally invisible) and can control afrs, timing, change rev limit and more importantly remove 180km speed limit. Sadly they are not available for S1 Stageas.

Awesome! I'm really keen to see some before and after figures on the NIStune. I wouldn't mind getting this installed as soon as i can. Also be interesting for traveling sakes how much different the car will be on fuel before and after. Do you have any other mods on the Stagea to go with this?? :P

Just got my nistune on my s2 rs auto stagea redone yesterday. Had some misfiring issues due to plugs but now its bloody amazing!!!!!!!!!

Before my tune with stock turbo and safc neo( which is now for sale :P )i managed 185rwkw at 12psi with all usual mods and stock afm, injectors. Now with hypergear turbo and nistune i'm pushing 230 rwkw at 16 psi!!!

The nistune transformed the engine completely. No where near as laggy, cold starts are perfect and changes on the stock auto are really snappy at the top end with no flaring. Funny thing is before the nistune my auto would flare for a second before changing to second, now it just clicks in really quick!! Hope that lasts!

On an rs rwd stagea this setup is so much fun! I'm getting to the limit of my rear tyre traction, and best of all i'm managing 450km + to a tank enen with a heavy foot and city driving!

Go the nistune definately, had mine done at status tuning by trent and he is fantastic!!

Nice! i get more pumped to get one installed every time someone talks about them!! :P

I had my car dyno'd when i put a boost controller in pulled 178 rwkw on 12psi dropped to 8 psi @6000rpm, since then i have installed full 3" turbo back exhaust and an adjustable cam gear, car came with hks intercooler and pod. All my driving is on highway get about 520 kms per tank but never run it empty so maybe 550-600 out of a tank. will post up results of new tune as soon i have it installed prob july/august

WOW - didn't know Chaser's do Nistune...another option for me, Although Trent at Status Tuning is the highly recommended, it's simply too difficult to get over the other side of the city to get it done (at my work, I can't take time off because we're short staffed).

2 of my friends got their cars tuned up at Chaser's and spoke very highly of them

sorry guys slightly off topic, but a bit interested if you have got a std turbo andy(i guess it is at 178rwkw on 12), have you any other mods eg safc etc to improve fuel use or a block behind the fun pedal because all stagea owners would cut off a nut for those figures

That figure was on the Chasers dyno in rear drive only (fronts pulled out) and as the car came from japan. Stock turbo (as far as i know) stock dump pipe and hks silent power cat back, hks intercooler and hard pipes and hks pod and turbotech bleed valve set to 12psi as stated. As for ecu i have always assumed it was standard it however may not be but never looked to see i guess i'll find out when the nistune goes in. There was nothing on the auction sheet to indicate modified or changed ECU or turbo and no sign of any aftermarket electronics (safc/sitc). I found the dyno sheet i over quoted a bit real figure is 175.6 RWKW unfortunately i could not get a print out of AFR's

Would this be a better option than jaycar AFR & boost controller with hand controller, which I was thinkin of doing. It's a bit more expensive but if the outcome if much better.......?

Any ideas on who I can talk to about getting this done in Brizzy?

EFI Performance. They are at Yatala or Nerang

I might be going down this track. Approx $300 plus tune $500.

Opposed to the Vipec for $2600 installed and tuned

Nistune will be better than just getting the Jaycar DFA but you will still need a boost controller and the Jaycar is great value if you can build it or find one already built).

...

Lose the stock dump for something (anything?) else, and fit a decent cat. turbine noise is a bit louder, but best estimates put those 2 parts fitted to my car alone at being worth ~5awkW (with a stock cat-back).

Otherwise, stop talking about how good the Nistune is - us S1 owners get all upset about it...

:P

    • Wife wanted basket things in the wardrobe in our temporary house. Thought about ripping our the wardrobe and fitting the entire IKEA set, but it's a temporary house and we want to move in a few years. So IKEA advertises this as a 50cm unit, however the actually basket and rails measure 46cm wide. Only issue was depth, IKEA stuff is quite deep, where as the builder special junk is super shallow at less than 40cm. Send it, chopped the rails, then offset the mounting holes, job done, happy wife, less shit scattered all over the bedroom. Did the same to the other side too. Also drove the Skyline shit box today, dropped off oil at Supercheap Auto. I didn't realise they only now take max 2x bottles per visit. I visited 2x Supercheap Autos.
    • I've seen similar actually in my situation. You never know what tables are attempted to be used when the car thinks it's -99C or +200C. The fail state is not usually that extreme but you know what I mean - it was in my case though! This is where being able to read all the sensors is useful cause you see this stuff really quickly.
    • The above is very important. However as long as you keep timing relatively low, it's plausible to make your own knock ears and plausible to learn to tune with a modern ECU that can do wideband O2 correction like a boost controller. I mean if you only have one viable road to even drive the car on, learning to tinker to this level may be worth doing given you can't do much else with the car...?
    • I find the fact that the rear plate has to be bent inwards at the rear not so bad: but the front is just awful: It's like come on. (these are my very old, now retired/turned in plates) TBH it is a lot of money to fix a minor issue, the fact I said "I'll never really spend the money on doing this" is why people ended up buying them as a gift for a 'car guy' who can be hard to shop for.. for car guy things.
    • I just bent the ends of my premo plates. It even went through Regency like that after the engine conversion and the inspector (a great bloke!) just squinted his eyes and said "I didn't see that". Plates, and how they look, are just something that have zero importance to me.
