Hello,

While playing around on the weekend i found the self diagnositc mode for the Navigation system.

In this mode you can test all components connected to the DVD rom navigation unit, eg tv tuner, gps antenna, etc.

I also found these extra screens.

By pressing the MAP and DISPLAY buttons together for 5 secs you get into the diagnostic mode.

The first screen has 2 options, the top option is self test, the second one has this screen

If you hold the MAP and DISPLAY buttons down for another 5 seconds on this screen you get this one

You notice you get the additional function of SRAM (i think this resets the whole system)

If you take the 3rd option down it has 3 functions -

1st option is gyro angle adjustment

2nd option is speed calibration

3rd option is this screen showing all gps data

I have tried to work out what each set of figures mean?

Can anyone else work out what the different menu options say?

Cheers

Pete

i forgot to ask a fellow stagea owner on the weekend. if i see him thursday night ill ask to borrow it and ill attempt to copy it. ill make an image of it available assuming it works. maybe a torrent or something.......

disc is a DVD and yes it can be copied.

one item you missed there was the greyed out langauage button.

these screens were covered about a year ago and the translations of the sub menus.

Regarding the 1st option.... I wonder if that would solve the 'inaccurate' Compass direction?

Have you tried if you can make some custom adjustments in any of those options/screen?

The best way is probably install a Japanese IME on your laptop, bring it over to your car with a local WIFI to your home ADSL, and you can translate most of the screen easily using google translators...

have a chat to andy - his username I dunno but he organise the work on russian translation thing... I think it's andy56b or something like that...

have a browse on this forum you'll easily see his name come up around

I played around, didn't get anywhere... almost killed my battery since took me some time with laptop and google translator with Japanese IME character recognition pad open, lots of copy paste...

Going into navigation directional setting there is one setting where you adjust the % (accuracy?) with left and right turn, I am not sure what it is...

probably trying to compensate for delay in the GPS signal and tuning the timing between a turning timing etc? well what the heck...

it's a finicky to work with and cbf anymore...

    • My idle is set at 950rpm though - Moving the timing around 20 degrees is not really what I'd call a calm idle. That said... neither is chop, by definition. The LS ECU likes to adjust timing to hold idle as opposed to air. It'd work, but generally speaking there'd be a discrepancy in the base idle and the IACV would want to move the timing around anyway to maintain said idle. I think I'm just going to keep the timing steady anyway. Preserve my engine mounts.  My aircon is now officially regassed. As the guy was reversing I noticed my reverse lights do not operate, along with my reverse cam. This is a bit distressing, because 100% of guides talk about which wire to connect to backup cams as "the goes with the [other color] wire". Often when doing conversions. Unfortunately the R34 colour wires aren't documented Unfortunately I had a T56 Magnum gearbox with it's reverse switch, which also isn't documented. Unfortunately there's definitely not documentation for people with both of these in the one car. Unfortunately I forgot. After many hours of this, I have a reverse cam and reverse lights again. The wire going through the trans tunnel to the reverse switch had broken. Upon inspection, it looks like this one wire had about 7 spade terminals and extensions in it.. for reasons I cannot possibly comprehend. I also spent the 750 hours required to clean up the wiring behind my head unit which now looks like this: This is a monumental improvement relative to what used to be there WRT triple gauges, head unit, traction control, wideband controller, and whatever the f**k OEM stuff still exists there in various states of connectivity/needed. Next step is to check in at the Exhaust shop to see/confirm how much clearance I have, to decide what mid mufflers or 'resonators' (which are just straight through, narrower mufflers) I can add and hopefully cut out a lot of exhaust leaks, pinhole, v-band or otherwise. But first step will be to 'take a look' before the next step.
    • Fark the AFM card and Nistune, Haltech Nexus S3, DBW, cruise control, flex fuel, dis dat.
    • It's most likely the bolt/bush where the cover bolts back wore and allowed cover to move forward.
    • Still haven't put the injectors and R35 AFM in so we can tune the bloody thing for the HG highflow it got mid last year! I think I can forecast the upgrade path to a bigger twin scroll, external gate, Haltech, flex setup, Samsonas, dis dat, etc will be .... a while away!
    • Should have taken that opportunity to slot in a twin scroll turbo setup. Maybe next time.
