does anyone know of any workshops that rebuild and strengthen R33 manual gearboxs, or where i can get a beefed up box, otherwise im gona have to do an auto conversion which im not real keen on cheers, preferably in Sydney

hi,

get on to any os-giken distributor. OS Giken make a cross cut gear set to suit the rb25det gearboxes that handle quite a lot of power, i am unsure about the shift quality with these gear sets though. Biggest factor would be getting someone very good to build the box, apparently manta racing services are good at building boxes? Just about all the big power gts-t's on this forum are still running stock boxes as far as i know though.

Yeah stock 33 box's are sposed to be tuff, but mines finished, im not sure if i was just unlucky and got a worn box and i finished it off, i mite just get a reco instead of a second hand this time

yeah,

mine had 3rd completely gone on the cluster and the other shaft but it could just be that it was flat shifted at high revs, plus it has big turbo, big locker and triple plate clutch which all makes a big strain on tha box doin 6k+ launches.

Reco should be fine as long as you don't do anything stupid and someone good builds it.

Thats what I don't get, its 1st and 2nd that get the workout yet third is the one that is making all the noise, who do you recomend for a reco?
