Hi all,

I've been searching the last 8+ weeks for a set of R34 GTR rims, but am yet to find a set which are not filled with rash.

I have had a WTB ad up and have had only 1 offer come through - and that set obviously was not for me.

Does anybody know anyone who is either selling a set, or can anyone recommend any shops other than just jap, import monster and UAS - as they are out of stock.

I'm in Sydney so local shops / people would be best, but i'm even willing to have them posted.

Would prefer a set in good conditon and with rubber if possible. Ready to fork out good $ for them too.

Any suggestions would be appreciated as im running out of ideas here.

Cheers!

If you get real desperate, call Nissan :D

A panel shop last week was quoted $3300 each from Nissan to fix a damaged r34 gtr

It needed 3. No wonder the repair bill was over $30000 in spare parts alone.

Pm sent about wheels

  • 3 weeks later...

still looking for a set, anyone have any more ideas? :P

on a side note, i have had a few people PM asking how much i was prepared to pay.

i have $2000+/- ready to spend on a good condition set with good rubber.

obviously this depends on rim condition, type of rubber and % remaining, if they include centre caps, location - etc.

have had a few new offers come through, but at present - im still waiting for the right set / seller to come around.

i'm even currently looking at getting a set sent over from kuala lumpur, but thats only if worst comes to worst.

please PM me if you have any ideas! :P thanks!

Just get the R34 man!

We'll see mate :D

If the right offer to sell is received then i'm ready to go ahead, however i'm also more than happy to keep her!

All the hard work is done and she is ready to be enjoyed, so i'll do just that until the right buyer comes along! Every time I take her for a drive she still puts a huge smile on my face. one like this --> :D haha

So to summarise, Dont rule me out - i'm not anywhere close to getting over my car and i'm still in the market for a set of sexy 34 GTR rims for her!

can't believe you can't find a decent set! amazing... it seems like they pop up all the time in the for sale threads

not much help, but i got mine from Aaron (import monster/rampant imports) - if you've gone 8 weeks already, what's a few more via the auctions ;)

Yeah i'm hanging out, not a necessity but it will be nice when i do find a set! ;)

Just a poor time to buy i guess, haha - a few months ago there were a stack of sets available, just my luck as soon as i want some - almost NOTHING!

Yeah, they dont really fill the guards on a 34 GTR that well either though haha! What you think?

I have the same width rims (x9) on my 33 at the moment, would consider spacers, but have seen them with them on there without and they dont look too bad! :merli: I just like genuine stuff!

Was looking at a set of 19' GTC's in gunmetal but then id have to drop the car and roll the guards - etc. I'm trying to keep it pretty original and will also probably be holding on to my stock R33 GTR rims.

    • What 1.5 way? There's no such thing really as a 1.5 way, just different ways of explaining 2 ways with different ramp rates. HOWEVER. In any driving in a straight line your 1.5 or 2 or 1.7 way should have no clunking at all. With the clutch fully depressed the diff should be silent (unless it's welded but I'm assuming it's not). Something aint right here.
    • Clutch is a spec brand, new clutch system,( PP, flywheel, friction disc, etc. pull type) installed 100 miles ago, with no problems.
    • looking for some help and maybe some insight on others experience with a new LSD. R34 GT ran and drove beautifully, but always alot of grip loss due to the open R200 rear end, so I just installed a new 1.5 LSD way into the stock open R200 for a ER34. Simple. Everything seemed right. I test drove for the first time this weekend. as I started to back out the garage the first time slowly with tires straight it sounded and felt like I had a loose or half disconnected drive shaft...that was clucking around loose and shaking entire vehicle, and making it feel like the trans clutch was spontaneously slipping then grabbing very roughly while just letting out pedal slowly. I backed it out went to pull forward with the same noise, shake and slip grab feeling with hesitation, I turned the tires to back out more and then pulled ahead some same thing but worst because of added wheel resistance (which that I expected) puzzled … pulling it back in checking everything over and finding nothing wrong, I tried it the next day. same thing, couldn’t believe how it shook everything again making a terrible noise and making it feel like the trans clutch was slipping and grabbing, but I got it out of garage into the driveway, got it straight, drove forward and then reveres a few times in a straight line everything shaking , causing what felt like clutch slip and grab every time, sounded like right behind front driver tire and I could feel it in the floor board with my feet,... worst right when beginning to let clutch pedal out to engage slightly, shuttering and sounding terrible along the way…I managed to slowly get down the road, babying it the whole way, once I was rolling (out of 1st) seemed to be better and between shifts, then clutch felt closer to normal…not slip/ grab etc., but back down to any stop, straight road or turning, same thing. Made no difference if all tires were straight or if I was turning. All other gauge read out correct. with in 2 miles as planned I reached the empty parking lot and performed the break in procedure that came with lsd, essentially to drive in a figure 8 a bunch.  Did this, binding chattering, and shaking the car the whole way. I drove it back home seemed somewhat normal once I was in straight line and past 10 mph or so, and I know it will “bind” on corners and cause some tires squeal when turning especially from a stop, but when I begin to move it still causes what feels like the trans clutch to slip and jerk badly as well as shaking the entire car, and sounds terrible, that I didn’t expect. I used the fluid they supplied with LSD kit and did the breaking, planning to change fluid as they suggest after breaking, but wondering will it get smoother or less aggressive with use? maybe a 1.5 is just too aggressive for normal road driving?   I have a LSD that I put in my 71 cuda when I restored it, with amazing smooth , quite yet effective results. Different style LSD but that ones a joy to drive. maybe expecting too much from this R200?
