So the night before, someone stole my valve stem air caps.... I wake up this morning and find this...

What the f**k. I've had the worst run of luck lately... and I've only had my car back for 2 days. I would think that I live in a relatively safe neighbourhood (Caulfield South) and have never known trouble like this... ever.

I only hope Karma will hit the person who did this and hit them hard... else a baseball bat, either is good.

Luckily for me, I've managed to secure a window and it will be getting repair by today... still... theres a little damage to the roof which I think won't be coming out... and an even emptier pocket for the damage...

I don't think so. I've got pretty good neighbours... could be someone across the street... it happened at around 12:30am last night... I dunno.... *sigh*...

The feeling of violation is just so high and rampant right now...

Best of luck with the repairs. :P

I'm assuming its just someone who has way too much envy for your ride.

Just out of curiosity - Was you car on the street? Were there any other cars vandalised? Reason why I ask is I remember there was something on the news a few months back in regards to random cars be trashed in the eastern subs.

Yep, car was on the street (the one night I got lazy for going up the ramp into the driveway). There were no other cars damaged. My brothers 4x4 was directly behind me and it was left unscathed.

I think they must have seen the r34 and thought "Damn, gotta beat that thing in"

Police came by, took some pictures and basically said bad luck. I don't blame them, I doubt there is anything they could have done anyway. I still have the brick which they used... wonder if I can place any curses on it which will rot testicles?...

Thanks for the kind words Ash... I've got a guy still outside fixing it. Hope it turns out like the original or better? hahaha

Yea, theres glass all over the interior. Shards of the stuff... a bit worried I'll cut my ass when I get in but it should be all good.

Luckily they didn't manage to get the brick through the glass so no interior scuff damage and such.

I'm a little worried about the dint on the roof just near the glass... its small but annoying. The glass repairer has been slowly edging it out for the past 20mins. Prob the more pro guy I've ever seen.

if its a small dnet try one of them mobile paint less dent removals. they work a treat. havent had the need of one yet but my neighbour got a dent the size of a 10c piece removed near the corner of his door

problem is it's on the roof right next to the glass and they need to be able to wedge the tool underneath the panel... so apparently they can only do it when the glass is off for the R34's... which is a bummer.

what I don't understand is why people do the stuff to skylines...I mean surely if you're jealous of a ride there are more 'envious' cars to own.

I mean strictly speaking price wise there's much more expensive gear out there like the european cars that I don't believe cop as much flack. Even a new HSV/FPV is going to cost more than most skylines so why bother?

they didnt take the brick for finger printing ?

cops just getting lazy these days. only source and they leave it behind.

bad luck there Ben, and glass on the dash ?

Pretty sure bricks make for very poor print sources, as they need a smooth flat surface. The rougher and uneven the surface the less likely they are to get an even print.

To the OP; I had something similar happen to my R33, and I live in one of the nicest suburbs in Melbourne (Mt Eliza). They missed my windscreen, but put a huge 50c sized dent in my roof just before the windscreen. Took the paint off and everything. Panel beater told me the same thing; he'd have to remove the windscreen to remove the dent, and he couldn't garentee that he wouldn't break the windscreen in the process. I was quoted like $500-1500 depend on whether or not the screen broke.

f**ken hell Bez, thats a bitch!

How the hell did they pull that off without someone beating their faces in??

The cars out of action until friday. Need a panel beater to fix the dent on the roof before the glass goes in. Sigh....

i feel your pain, was driving home from girlfriends place the other day, decided when i was close to home that i was far to awake to go inside and go straight to bed, so i went for a small drive, and got egged... took off a fair bit of paint on the bonnet! ..... now wish that I went straight home!

hope your luck gets better mate!

Apparently, these incidents happen a lot, and vandals are hard to trace. Do alarms work?

Even if they do, the people that commit this stupidity always make a quick dash....

One possible, but unfortunate solution would be to install micro cameras with infrared connected to a car PC or PVR of some description.

question still needs to be asked:

So do you drive like a dickhead, and, being a conspicuous car (and number plate), you've pissed someone off? Be honest here.

while there are "random acts of vandalism", there are many more provoked ones...

still feel for you though.

    • Driveline vibration is resolved. I ended up loosening all my engine mount and trans mount bolts, giving it a good shake then retightening everything and it's gone... Let's just say I was surprised that fixed it.  I've been happily driving it around again but unfortunately put zero time into my direct port/constant pressure WMI setup. I'm on vacation next week, so I'll try and finalize it then.  On a different note, I spent all week fuel/ignition mapping 2x 216L V16 engines. Turbo's were burning glycol and we swapped them out for larger units. We also had planned emissions testing on site, so I figured I'd be there the same week to use their instrumentation and massage any emissions issues out if needed. This was a first for me. Fuel management is similar in certain ways to automotive (i.e air density as load variable) but very different in others. It's all PLC based and AFR's are controlled by air and not fuel. They use a control valve between the turbo and air manifold to control pressure which in turn controls AFR's. Due to this, target AFR tables supplied by the OEM are in pressures and not mass which really through me off. They use air pressure vs fuel pressure tables. I also relied on an O2 concentration sensor the emissions team had in the exhaust. Ignition timing was also all over the place and we were losing a fair bit of power. They're now happily sitting at 16-40BTDC depending on load. We were making about 1600kw at 900rpm at 90% load. Engines were running a lot smoother as well.
    • heh, aint no R32 ever meeting modern targa cage rules unless the driver is veeeery short OP, good luck with the sale, since its already in the land of freedom I'm sure you will find a good buyer.
    • meh, it was a good video, clear about the issue and how he dealt with it. A bit heavy on the RTV and very brave to put an RB in anything without rebuilding it first, but otherwise I thought it was good Dose, I'm not sure that having the pickup forward is a big issue; yes of course the oil could shift under brakes but the sump should never be empty enough for that to be a problem (unless you also have a higher volume oil pump, and that oil can't return from the head to the sump quickly enough)
