rolls on 18s, for me its not that low.

anyone had the same drama? also an easy and cheap way to fix?

Cheers

Your best bet would probably be to swap over to an OEM suspension if you know someone with a 33T and would be okay with you borrowing theirs for a day.

Failing that, either buy a second hand OEM or some aftermarket coilovers that would pass ADR requirements.

Also, a Coke can is 130mm, not 100mm which is the ADR minimum for a fixed object (WA).

Because your in new south wales i have the examiners handbook right beside me as i done the course not long age and there is nothing in the book to say they can fail you on ride height. if you dont use the place for working on your car only geting the rego done go back to them and say" SHOW WHERE IN THE RULES FOR AIS WHERE IT SAY ABOUT RIDE HEIGHT" and if they cant then they cant fail it for rego. hope this helps you.

another thing is that they cant fail you but the cops can still defect you if it is to low but you can get a pink slip. Did they nock it back for anything else or just the ride height. If they did let me know wat else and ill check the book on whether it is a fail or not.

ok, at the lowest point of the side skirts is about 140mm, front and rear bars are higher.

the reason it failed is because he couldn't get jack under it so he couldnt lift it to check front susp.

also is there anywhere under the front you can place a jack, i'll take it back and tell him to jack it up from the front if i can.

cheers

why would he lift it to check the suspension?

i never heard of that , just go elsewhere

100mm is the lowest point it can be so you are nowhere near that.

I dont know what sort of place you have gone to for a pink slip. When I go it takes 5 minutes. A quick check of the lights and a 1 minute drive to check the brakes and thats about it.

My suggestion, dont let the place you went to touch your car again!

Whereabouts in Newcastle are you?

i'm in the Terrace, i used to take my falcon here as well, never knocked it back once and it was pretty low but you could jack it up at the front. Basicly he said if he can jack it up he would pass it as long as the susp in all good. is there a place at the front under the plastic shroud that it can be jacked up?if i can't jack it up i'll just take it else where.

Cheers guys

+1

Don't they have a pit??????

This is done to check the wheel. They jack up the both sides on the front and grab the wheel and shake it. Whilst the car is jacked they could check the suspension but i would think that wasnt there main intention

To OP that is outrageous if the lowest pint on your car is 140mm high and they failed you for that. Unfortunately if they want to fail you they can regardless of the rules. Just try again make sure everything else is legal too.

    • Hi...so a "development" here aswell The swap is "done" and car went "test drive" BUT it seems the clutch(maybe gearbox?) is a little bit sad? I bought this clutch kit https://justjap.com/products/xtreme-heavy-duty-organic-clutch-flywheel-kit-nissan-skyline-r31-r32-r33-push-type "Problem" is that the first gear is hard to put into and it seems that the clutch is not disengaged. It was not the problem with the old clutch...(or like sometime the first gear would not get as easy specialy when the fluid was cold) So? Can it be like...bad "install" or is the clutch wrong ((it should not have been) i done research to get the right one) Or is this "normal" with new clutch and needs to be break in?
    • @Duncan I can try  and thanks i did not thought about VIN and part numbers for 33/34. @GTSBoy yeah it looks like iam gonna do that
    • Forgot to include this but this is the mid section of my steering rack that looks like it has a thread/can be turned with that notch mentioned in the post:
    • Hey everyone, Wanted to pick some brains about this issue I'm having with rebuilding my 33 rack (PN is 49001-19U05). All of the tutorials/videos I've seen online are either R34 or S Chassis racks which seem to be pretty straightforward to disassemble but this process doesnt carry over to my rack. Few of the key differences that I've noted The pinion shaft on the other racks bolt on with 3 torx bolts: Whereas my rack bolts on with 2 allen head bolts: These changes are pretty inconsequential but the main difference is how you pull the actual rack out of the housing. The other skyline/s chassis racks can be taken out by tapping the rack out of the body with a socket and it just slides right out. I'm unable to do that with my rack because there's a hard stop at the end that doesn't let the seal/shaft be tapped out. Can also see a difference in the other end of the rack where mine has a notch that looks like you're able to use a big wrench to unthread 2 halves of the rack whereas the other racks are just kinda set in with a punch. My rack: Other racks: TLDR; Wanted to know if anyone has rebuilt this specific model of steering rack for the R33 and if there were any steps to getting it done easier or if I should just give this to a professional to get done. Sorry if this post is a bit messy, first one I've done.
    • I would just put EBC back on the "I would not use their stuff" pile and move on.
