Confirmed today I will be travelling to Japan the end of October.

Staying with a guy who works for Nissan. Already prepped to go to some car places, wreckers etc (actually he's a Nissan Cube fan :D ).

So I'm asking early for advice etc. I will be trying to buy some bits to carry back, maybe take a suitcase specially for bringing back some key parts. Is it a good idea to buy some stuff and try to post it to myself? Thinking, thinking...

Buy 5 - 10 C34 manual centre consoles, and become a GOD amongst the Stageans... : I just paid $880, for about half of the complete unit: Nissan wanted over $2k for everything ($179 ashtray, anyone?)...

I am thinking of doing the same thing next year.

Have been looking into what i can and cant bring back and it seems to depend on who you talk to , from what i have been told there doesnt seem to be any restrictions on what you can bring back , you just have to prove it's for you and not going to be resold, well thats what customs have told me anyway.

Good luck

Lachy

How about a whole stack of these, and similar?

    • I know people cry at the price of the Getrag 12-14k for a conversion now, but it really is a nice mid point. Not going to get change from 10k on a gearset installed.  $30k++ for sequential.   I know you run the risk of a damaged used one and parts are hard to get but as a street car gearbox its really hard to beat. If you enjoy a more traditional manual, its the choice no question.
