I will take a sedan if anyone has anything? so if anyone has a cheap sedan r30 rolling body let me know in vic is pref

I think this one in Adelaide for $5,500 is cheap. DR30 in Adelaide

Well I have had this car looked at by a very experienced person and I can tell you IT AINT CHEAP!

$2000.00 would be closer to the mark, as it has more problems than the DR I bought off D-limo in Qld, if you were wantin g to register it.

If you buy it for $5500.00 expect to be paying at least double to get it to some sort of reasonable condition.

The decision is yours, but it's not cheap.

Cheers, D

That's a shame because it looks good from the pics and they don't come up too often. I am in NSW and was not seriously considering buying it; but it is very exciting when DR30s come up for sale; then again I get exciting when N12 Exa's come up for so go figure...

Sorry if perhaps im not clear enough with my description of what I want? I would like a car to play with and build so maybe a grannys old 2 liter auto hr or a body with no engine etc just something for me to work with ill consider anything because everything has a price but id like to spend a $1000 or less really for a sedan I am not after a finished car if I must spend more I must, but looking at r31s for a grand must mean there are r30s out there?

There is a body at a you pick yard here in melb im looking at, but if there is something similar out there then great as something that goes would be more ideal (but it does not need to go well) just easier to get home lol, and please don’t tell me it wont happen cause that does not help

I will consider anything

you will find plenty of R31's, especially around the $1000 mark, but not R30's as they are alot harder to find.

even though I have owned 4 in the last 2 years only 1 of them are on the road and the other 3 were so shit they were long past registerable.

sure you might find one, but be patient. I will let you know If i can find anything in your price range.

I can agree with you about a shame, as I was giving it some serious consideration, so I asked a mate to look it over.

A further upgrade is after discussion with Ozdat, who has done a bit of work on the car.

The report says .... Thrashed severely, done a number of drift trials, no compliance & import papers and this creates a problem, as it could mean it was imported as a competition car, which means it can NEVER be registered. If it was bound for a road registered vehicle, in a nut shell it's a PIG, as a track car it's a possibility.

So! If I can't get it for about 2G's he will be keeping it for some other sucker.

Cheers, D

says its rego'd and has number plates on it. but reckon possible plate swap??

i offered the guy something (pending inspection) but didnt want a bar of it. says goin into storage if doesnt sell..

All I know is it was registered when we went and looked at it when it was just a shell many many years ago. And I have seen being driven round a fair bit since then all rego'd.

Plus I dont have any import & compliance papers for my car and it is legitimately registerable. You dont need them once the car has already been registered for Australian roads. Heck my car doesnt even have compliance plates, but then again this is SA :(

At the risk of giving away the ace up my sleve ..

there is a red DR30 for sale in SA just put up on car sales yesterday its ugly ! but it seems cheep and im thinking i may buy provided it checks out this car was from melb do we know it?

anyhow im getting more photos from the seller and im thinking it could be me!

only problem i can see is that it does look as though its not a DR as its not facelift in saying that did any pre facelift DRs come into aus?

or perhaps it ass ended someones landcruiser and they could not get the parts ? i dont mind if its had a whack as long as its a good repair

fingers crossed posting this does not get it snapped up from under my nose or i may completely loose my faith in humanity lol

also out of iterest anyone in SA happy to look at the car for me un baisly as im from melb it will be a flight then a drive

i am aware that the bumper is wrong and the wheels are the wrong offset lol main things are really if there are any road legal issues

Cheers Guys

I have a stack of pics for it, about 10 or 12 plus a video of it running and it's a cop of a car!

Says it's rego'd but no evidence of this at inspection.

Has 1.5" spacers behind front wheels.

For those in SA, go have a chat with DATSPORT, because they have worked on the car.

Cheers, D

It's an 83 model or earlier, although it could carry 84 compliance in Oz. I have seen funnier things on imported cars, just depends on the connections in Japanese Auction House, but to have an 83 called an 84 is rare.

All early DR's were standard front as far as I know, Iron Mask fronts were brought out in S2 84/5 vintages, but will have to check my sales brochures to confirm this for sure.

It also has an off side rear exhaust outlet in the rear beaver, which is something I always thought to be for Oz only.

The HR31 front bar looks a bit ordinary, the way it's been done.

Lots of funny things on this car for me to spend $6000.00 on, but I gtuess it depends on how desperate one is to own a coupe.

Cheers, D

    • Nah, they'll do it without a receipt, tell em roughly when it was, that it was cash, youll likely only get store credit, but that gets you some dollars towards the newer better shovel, or other item you need/want later.   Still take it back and have a crack at returning it.
    • Nah. Was just wondering if you were having a small stroke or if there was some slur/gaf/inside joke that I wasn't aware of.
    • That was a fark up, it's Salamanca Place I was thinking of. And now I'm curious as to what potential slur/gaf I have caused with Salamander Road, ha ha!
    • Actually everyone on the roads was really well behaved. The only person that did any minor tailgating was a local hoon in a Turbo Focus. Unfortunately we weren't going the same way so there was no grand initial D touge battle. Lots of people pulled over and let me through. The amount of "Hey man nice car, omg skyline, nice 34 man woo" was suprising. Like really suprising. Like almost annoying. My partner was obviously surprised, she'd never seen anyone in the real world point out the car/like the car/want to chat about the car before, so to have like 3 people per day mention it was notable, I could finally say SEE? SOMEONE THINKS THEY'RE COOL. Everyone was also pretty suprised about the weather. Every day was dry and about ~13-14C. Mount Wellington had a sign that said they close the gates at 9pm and I was heading up there at about ~7:30. It was VERY apparent that conditions were getting significantly worse by the minute on the way up and down. The road on the mountain was terrible though, it's no driving road. I have various suspension related questions now. Luckily it was only about 20 minutes from where we were staying to the top of the mountain as said Google maps. We only had the 2 nights in Hobart. We went to the Farm Gate Market though which was really good - And went down to the Hastings Thermal springs/caves down there during the day. I'd definitely be up for going back again, so luckily there's a few more sights yet to see. Didn't get to do the west coast/queenstown/cradle mountain so this was supposed to be a 'scouting' trip anyway of sorts if I were to one day do/take part in/organize a more car-focused trip. As for the boat, it wasn't bad. Well it was bad, but not in the way you're thinking. We did the night trip which leaves at 6:45 (though you have to be there ~2 hours earlier) and arrives the next morning at about 6am. There is nothing to do on the ship. If you plan accordingly and bring a book/tablet/show to watch/charger you can just chill out, take some Travacalm and just sleep through it. The food there is an extremely basic buffet that costs $32 a plate, or $14 for a $3 pizza. The way back we had a travel kettle and a few different types of cup noodles and made our own tea/coffee in the room. This was a far superior way to do it. At the very least book one of the rooms with beds. I guess as we were in the off season we didn't have room mates. You get an option for rooms with 4 beds (2x bunks) or a room with just the two bottom beds. There's also some option for a deluxe queen bed but it's much pricer. We've been on sleeper trains in Asia before so we figured this is similar (and it was)
