Dont mean to speak foul of Meridian, they are a great bunch of guys that do great work. But they are not cheap for some things, and that includes seats.

Ditto Revolution Racegear, thats about the last place i would buy a seat.

Velo Milanos are not bad but i think you will be happier going GP90, GPT etc.

Now where to buy, if you are happy to go second hand then you just need to know where to shop. LOL like brakes i am the seat king when it comes to hunting down cool seats cheaply :D

But if you are buying new then i suggest you try Grant Mundy Racing Products (GMP Racing) or on line at Racer Industries who often have good sales on seats. Both sell Velo. Or try Speedzone at Ballarat, they dont do Velo but are a good bunch of guys who generally do good gear at good prices, certainly better then some other Speedzone chains.

I'm embarrassed to say that yes I do a bit. Black FTW! I could also go something that was black with grey trim or black with red or blue trim depending on how much is there.

Of course price is the ultimate factor, if the difference between red and black is $100 or something then I might just have to take the red etc

Dont worry too much about ADRs, provided it complies with FIA etc then you know the quality is there. It may be an ADR seat but the second you put a rail on it and install it then its still illegal until you have it engineered ;( as the rail is not ADR

Have you had any luck finding a crazy deal?

I had a GP90 lined up for very good dollars but a local buyer came and paid cash and picked it up over the weekend while I was still getting freight quotes :)

keep an eye out on Ebay as well. see some bargains pop up there every now and then.

I picked up a Sparco PRO2000 seat w/ 3-point clip in harness for under $300 :D I can't speak for other brands, but the Sparco has a replaceable seat cover. So buy one 2nd hand in whatever colour, then replace the cover with your colour of choice! :D

have a look here.

Yeah have been checking there as well.

A PRO2000 for under $300 is crazy, aren't they like 1200-1400 new?

Shit, that's an awesome price even if it is ugly as sin :D

Hmm how tight is too tight.

I was offered a brand new Bride low max for $500 today, guy who bought it didn't realise the sizing and it's a snug fit for me. I do feel some pressure on the ball of the bone at the top of the thigh (on the sides) but i dunno if that's good or not. Is there a rule of thumb for how tight is right?

It's brand new and very cheap =\ Offered mates rates as it's through a friend of a friend.

Looks like this

I'm not sure exactly what model it is but I'm wondering if it's a replica. I'm looking at the bride website now.

The seller reckons he paid $1200 odd for it but it's too small for him. I will go check it out again this morning now that I know what I'm looking for replica wise.

MY query is more about how to tell if they are too tight. I know it should be snug but I can't seem to find any rule of thumb for how tight is tight enough or too tight.

I had to wiggle a little bit to fit into this one but once i stretched my legs out into the driving position it was a bit better but I still felt notable pressure on the upper leg bone beneath the hips.

I went back and took some pics (attached)

Then compared that with the "how to tell a fake" images on the bride website.

The seat is a VIOS3 from what I can compare.

It's got the same silver back as the genuine on in the pics also. The seat is a little dusty as it's been stored at a panel shop, I'm filthy from going there lol

I dunno... I'm not 100% on this.

In person the colours of the seat (the shoulder protection bolsters) and the cushions are much darker and looks like the bride PDF's (blame flash for that)

The tag looks good but there's no sticker above the harness hole on the seat itself. He said it cost him around $1200 bucks but that it was too small for him so he just bought a bigger seat.

    • Was going to say the car pulls up nicely everywhere, especially going into that last long right hander before the main straight. Looks like a lot of fun.
    • Hey Dave, welcome aboard! Good to see another soon-to-be Stagea owner here. The wagons are awesome — plenty of space, still got that Skyline DNA, and loads of potential if you’re into mods. Definitely post up pics when you get it, everyone here loves seeing new builds. What model/year are you looking at?
    • See if you can thermal epoxy a heatsink or two onto it?
    • The other problem was one of those "oh shit we are going to die moments". Basically the high spec Q50s have a full electric steering rack, and the povo ones had a regular hydraulic rack with an electric pump.  So couple of laps into session 5 as I came into turn 2 (big run off now, happily), the dash turned into a christmas tree and the steering became super heavy and I went well off. I assumed it was a tyre failure so limped to the pits, but everything was OK. But....the master warning light was still on so I checked the DTCs and saw – C13E6 “Heat Protection”. Yes, that bloody steering rack computer sitting where the oil cooler should be has its own sensors and error logic, and decided I was using the steering wheel too much. I really appreciated the helpful information in the manual (my bold) POSSIBLE CAUSE • Continuing the overloading steering (Sports driving in the circuit etc,) “DATA MONITOR” >> “C/M TEMPERATURE”. The rise of steering force motor internal temperature caused the protection function to operate. This is not a system malfunction. INSPECTION END So, basically the electric motor in the steering rack got to 150c, and it decided to shut down without warning for my safety. Didn't feel safe. Short term I'll see if I can duct some air to that motor (the engine bay is sealed pretty tight). Long term, depending on how often this happens, I'll look into swapping the povo spec electric/hydraulic rack in. While the rack should be fine the power supply to the pump will be a pain and might be best to deal with it when I add a PDM.
    • And finally, 2 problems I really need to sort.  Firstly as Matt said the auto trans is not happy as it gets hot - I couldn't log the temps but the gauge showed 90o. On the first day I took it out back in Feb, because the coolant was getting hot I never got to any auto trans issues; but on this day by late session 3 and then really clearly in 4 and 5 as it got hotter it just would not shift up. You can hear the issue really clearly at 12:55 and 16:20 on the vid. So the good news is, literally this week Ecutek finally released tuning for the jatco 7 speed. I'll have a chat to Racebox and see what they can do electrically to keep it cooler and to get the gears, if anything. That will likely take some R&D and can only really happen on track as it never gets even warm with road use. I've also picked up some eye wateringly expensive Redline D6 ATF to try, it had the highest viscosity I could find at 100o so we will see if that helps (just waiting for some oil pan gaskets so I can change it properly). If neither of those work I need to remove the coolant/trans interwarmer and the radiator cooler and go to an external cooler....somewhere.....(goodbye washer reservoir?), and if that fails give up on this mad idea and wait for Nissan to release the manual 400R
