haha, I will try and get some taken tonight...give it a clean first.

My engine light come on the other day after I installed new headlights. (removed airbox and coolant bottle to get my hand in)

Had a look last night and one of the hoses from the intake pipe to the standard boost controller (only controls spikes) did come out, probably came out

when i was moving the afm around.

what would cause this?

cheers

only if you switch on the ignition or start the car with anything unplugged, and as cam said, it will be away about about 10 successful starts. i went to the dealer twice to get it cleared, but one time i couldnt be bothered but then it went away so i just leave it for a few days now............

So how much do you want for the rear muffler?

Given how huge the centre muffler is, not sure how much of a restriction it is, but it would be absorbing a tonne of energy/sound. Would imagine that the bulk of restriction would be in the 4 cats before you get to the centre muffler...

WTF..... 4 cats?

I only HAD 2. now 1 less.

If my memory serves me correctly, you've only got 2 cats Nick.

Dump & front pipe (as it should be from factory). Mine was the oddball exhaust, so don't go by that (dump, 3 or 4 in front pipe)

Plus the two in the exhaust manifolds (headers)... one on each side...

Need to have one in the manifold to be a LEV (Low Emissions Vehicle). These ones are supposed to remove all the nasties before the engine warms up properly..

che?

The VQ25det powered M35's were never a low emissions vehicle.

The PM35 was with the VQ35de and the VQ25dd, but never the turbo.

Pretty sure my exhaust manifold doesn't contain a couple of cats... but I feel the need to have another look now

RAWS Consumer Information Notice for my car states that 3 new cats were fitted at compliance :)

Two have the same part number and I assumed are in the manifolds area and the other third one, I also assume, would have been between the dump and the jumbo mid muffler..

    • Manual boost controllers (where a little of the boost was bled off) were quite common back in the day, because they were cheap and easy. Generally they had a manual adjustment screw rather than being fixed like yours. Down side is they always bleed boost, not just when you want them to so an electronic boost controller that uses a solenoid will have less lag.
    • Hello , im new here and i have A31 home build  RB25det neo stock eng / turbo  aem ems 2 blue connector  aem 3.5 map aem cas disk aem wideband connected to ecu  355 lph pump 550 nismo yellow injectors side feed aftermarket regulator  and won’t start with base aem tuner basic tune eventually flipped cas 180 degree so it triggers on correct stroke not in exhaust cycle  Now it won’t start Wideband reads 10 and 11 at lowest fuel setting  and will share calibrations soon for aem tuner i think something is wrong in aem tuner    please if you have any information, am very grateful
    • Legend. I ended up finding the facebook account of the owner of the first car i sent but sadly he deactivated the account. I think you’re right in saying it’s some sort of well done custom job. Really appreciate your help anyways.
    • Totally equivalent. Stock often goes from the comp cover because that's where the actuator is also installed and the factory needs 2" of hose to make the connection - and it comes as a pre-assembled unit. They totally have a boost reference from somewhere between the turbo and the throttle(s). Oh, jeez. Just do it in M12 then. We don't actually care that much. I would expect any such AN converter fitting to rely on an o-ring or some other seal onto a flat surface under the flange of the hex**, because bolt threads are no intended to provide a pressure seal. unlike..... pipe threads. **which also requires a suitably flat and smooth surface on the turbo's boss to provide the seal.
    • I also used NP   That’s were it’s seems to be the best place to fit it? All schematic shows also that it’s should be referenced from the turbo housing. But idk, I do see high hp cars without any connection or anything to their turbos, so I really don’t know how they connect their things
