that one looks really good however I dont need all the parts in that kit.

All I need is the cooler and a braided line. I can get the braided line and fitting fromm Enzed. So it's only the cooler that I need. I think Autobahn has got one but I am not sure how good it is.

Keep me posted on the GB thing though.

The current bid price on the kit that you mention is a steal though. The oil filter adaptor thing alone cost more than $100

Hi.

What times does your S15 do on Mallala?

What have you done to the car? (Brakes, Suspension?)

195Kw is impressive.

Regards

Rizos

Hi,

Since we lost the old post, I thought I'd post up a reminder:

Mallala public track day

Sat 6th Dec

meet Sefton Plaza cnr Main North and Regency Roads 9am

Racing/Scrutineering starts at 10am (I think)

approx. 7 x 1 hour blocks, with 4 x 15 minute sessions (one of each class - car, bike, go-kart and open wheeler I believe) in each block. So you get to race 15 minutes in every hour (which u want to do to cool down anyhow).

Cost $70

Need:

- helmet

- long sleeves

- closed shoes

- non nylon-flammable clothing

- full licence - NO P-PLATERS - sorry :D

We will be cooking a basic bbq on the day and ask a gold coin donation or whatever you deem appropriate. I will bring a little barbie, utensils, sauce, bread, snags and chevaps. If you want anything else to cook on the bbq feel free to bring it.

I think that about covers it!! Come out even if you don't want to race (not that there's ANY excuse for not racing :) ).

Please post your intentions below so I can get a rough idea of food requirements (again - sorry).

Suspension and brakes are stock, except for some good dot5 brake fluid and good pads. Hence my lap times weren't very good due to body roll, and the fact that my Dunlop LM702 tyres went molten after a couple of hard laps and it was like driving on ice ....

Yeah power delivery is very nice, but I always want more power. My best 1/4 mile run is a 12.74 which I don't think is too bad either :) My power should be a fair bit more now due to the extra mods I have done since, but peak power currently has dropped in favour of a much fatter power and torque curve from very low down all the way to redline. I need to buy a Power FC so I can fit the Z32 air flow meter I have, as my Unichip doesn't support it :D

Would have been there definetly however was on the track Friday doing a Precision and Performance driving course run by the Australian driving Institute. Steve Cramp was one of the Instructors. Let him have a drive as he set up the Suspension and to show me how I can be quicker. From checking back on the video he was doing 1.24min laps with two of us in the car and a boost leak.

fyi everyone - this post has been dug up from a year ago - that was when a few of us did the "SAU track day".

My brother-in-law David was out there on Friday too Greg - he was in his white R33 - he is a mate of Steve's - and Steve does most of the work on his car. I was planning to go too, but I didn't manage to get an oil cooler in time (it arrives in the next few weeks) plus work got really busy etc so I didn't make it. Last time I was there is was doing flat 1:35s, but as I said above had tons of body-roll and very slippery tyres :( .... your times are very impressive!

Chapman I will definitely do one of these courses next year - I'll post up details closer to the event and see if we can get a bit of an SAU group out there. It sounded like it was great fun and very informative.

Spewin, would have loved to take part but was working - will come out next time.

Sounds like you guys had lots of fun though!

What tyre pressures were you running Nightcrawler???

I was sort of wondering where this trackday suddenly appeared from. It was from a while a go. The next course to be run is in March.

Can't remember what tyre pressures I was running John - I think just stock pressure of around 33psi from memory. And in case you didn't read all of my last post - this event was LAST year - not recently!

But Grepin, the track day that my brother-in-law went to, was the one you were at last Friday just gone. He had the white 33 and his name was David.

Yeah met David. His car is quiet quick for what looks like little outlay. Wonder why we take our cars so far these days. I had what may be BOV sticking. Havent had a chance to have a look at it yet.

yeah he has done the right things then stopped at the right point. He had done little bits and pieces previously also, but has just completed a good upgrade:

- Power FC (tuned by Martin Donnon)

- GT turbo of some sort (maybe 25/35 hybrid or similar)

- triple core radiator

- oil cooler

- bigger injectors

- bigger fuel pump

- thermo fans

- FMIC

and now he is running 238rwkw - a good figure for (like you say) relatively simple mods, done correctly.

    • The chart of front pressure to rear pressure (with one being on the x axis and the other being on the y axis) is not a straight line on a typical proportioning valve. At lower pressures there is a straight line with one slope, and at higher pressures that changes to a lower slope. That creates a bend in the line at that pressure, called the knee point. If you do not change the proportionng as the pressure gets higher, you will suffer excessive pressure (at one end of the car or the other, depending on which way you look at the proportioning action) and then get lockups at that end. The HFM BM57, from my memory of previous discussions, is based on the BM57 from a different car (to a Skyline), with a different requirement for the location of the knee point and the distribution of pressure front to rear, and so is not a good choice for an upgrade on a Skyline. Here's a couple of links to some old posts, one from here, one from elsewhere. A lot of it pertains to adjustable prop valves, but the idea is the same. There are plenty of discussions on here about this issue from al the many years of people wanting a cheap/accessible option. https://grassrootsmotorsports.com/forum/grm/learn-me-brake-proportioning-valves/236880/page1/ https://grassrootsmotorsports.com/forum/grm/learn-me-brake-proportioning-valves/236880/page1/
    • Yeah dunno why johhny posted that here with no context, just post on FB/insta bro where he put it up?  Laine had an off at T4 during Thurs prac, he's ok, car is less than perfect, they are done for the weekend, he can fill in the rest. Bando also binned it like 100m up the road.
    • I feel there must have been a FB/insta post and the weekend did not start well at all I hope everyone is all okay
    • Yeah, I guess its pretty easy to get to if this doesn't work. Just wait till next oil change and pull it out. I am going to have to do the oil pan gasket soon and thought I'd just replace it while I was there.  Thanks
    • All that matters is you're safe and you were able to type that post. Hopefully heaps of parts you can recover for the next shell.
