I dont really get how you guys think its suss, its a modified car, thats what they go for and as soon as they pop the car, they'll take anything in the boot and if they can get inside the car they'll look through it and take anything in there.

how is it suss?

im more than sure its someone that knows whats in the car or thats seen you pumping it and knows where you live. i never pump my system near my area just to be on the safe side i hope u find ur gear coz thats f*ked

I thought if somebody wanted audio gear, they'd break into a loud Lancer.

If they liked the Skyline because its a modified vehicle they'd try to steal the whole car or at least steal gear from the front end, not the boot ?

you got to think about it, most modified cars will have some good stuff in it, gauges, system, powerfc all in there car. the kids that are doing this shit are smart these days, around my area (Burswood) we used to get kids looking into our cars and never in the lancers and that.

I feel for you mate.

I was in the exact same situation as you several months ago.

The sound system in my car was all taken except the head unit (coz they know the stuff in the boot worth much more)

FYI, the car was parked in a secured car park with big ass gate (I lived in an apartment). Noone should have access to the car park except the residents. Also, it could not be my neighbors because they are mostly retiree and senior citizen. It made me wonder how the hell they can get into my car park in the first place.

No where is safe i reckon. The cop came in and took some fingerprint samples and thats about it...I heard nothing since then...

I hope you get your stuff back.

Those lowlife c*nts really need a lesson

Good luck

Yeah I get what you mean about gauges, power FC, etc but I think it's suss that they break into a Skyline for fancy audio gear, which to my knowledge most Skylines don't have? Instead I thought most Skylines have a loud-ass alarm, unlike some buzz-box Civic that is likely to only have an immobilizer and 10k worth of audio gear. Which is why I think it's weird if they didnt touch the steering collumn / ignition or open the bonnet, they must have heard it / seen it at some point to know it was there.

Ring any local joints that buy shit off the street like Cashies and report your stolen stuff, they'll keep an eye out for you as well (it does work if the idiots are stupid enough to try and sell it there)

Maybe they saw your radar detector and went for that, then decided to take a look in your boot.. dont leave anything in your car thats worth stealing.

I once left my backpack on my seat, and my window got smashed in just to steal a crappy backpack with some clothes in it.

    • They are under bucket shims. Tomei provides a test shim kit and then any measurement of shim required.
    • I always wondered how you were supposed to buy a set of 24 buckets and somehow magically have every single one of them yield exactly the desired clearance. I would have thought you'd need to assemble a cam with either 12 "sample" or "example" buckets of known top thickness (or a single such sample/example 12 times over!!) measure clearances at every valve, and then do the usual math to work out what the actual "shimness" of each bucket needed to be, before buying the required buckets to make up he thicknesses that you didn't have on hand.
    • I now seem to be limited in power due to my rev limit/hydraulic lifters in my built RB25. I'm looking into converting over to Tomei solid lifters. Question for anyone that has done the conversion. I was always under the impression that when using the Tomei solid lifter conversion, you would also require new valves (Longer or shorter stems, I can't remember which).  I don't know where I got this idea, as so far I see no mention of this in any of the Tomei documentation. It just states I need the Tomei solid buckets, solid lifter cams and upgraded springs. As my head is already built, all I would need is another set of 1000$ Kelford cams, 500$ buckets and about 4H hours of my time installing and I'm off to the races!?!? There's no way it's that simple, I must be missing something?
