I went into my window cam and found the spin I did with the windows down:

Nice.

If I had footage of all my spins I could have cut & pasted them together and added some Benny Hill music in the background.

wow awsome day! exceeded all expectations! the little rolla pulled a 1:32 :P with to much understeer and some over steer :ninja:

hit 200kph down the back straight was great!!

spewing a busted a weld on the exhaust manifold..

already got my shopping list for next time!!

cant wait to go again!

Going through my window cam and working it out by the footage, the fastest times I did were 1:27's (many times), averaged 1:28 if I wasn't caught behind someone. What kinda timers are everyone using?

My 2nd off about 1minute after my dirt bath:

and my corner exit onto pit straight tank slapper:

youtube links should be right now

I was behind you at one stage and it was a damn good match, was interesting looking at others peoples lines. I used the Race Chrono app on my Nokia (see below), I think it's available for iPhones as well and it's free! I was sceptical at first but it seems to be spot on from looking at the video footage. I had to download the Mallala track inside the app, which applies the GPS co-ords including 4 sectors. For each session it works out your best 4 sectors then adds them together for a theoretical best time which for me was a 1.25 - I wish! :ninja:

awesome day. big thanks to adrian for organising the day, luke, luke and glenn for helping with my brakes, and wayne for running me to gawler to get another set of rear pads to turn into crispy nothingness. :P

I ended up going out for 7 sessions and reckon that I had about 30mins in total where I had the track to myself. Especially right at the end. Brilliant!

wouldve stayed out there with you, but my rear pads were gone (again) and i was surging badly, as you probably would have noticed when i was about to pass you coming onto the straight. but shit, that pug of yours is deceptive. i like it!

I'm pretty confident that I won the 'Most Spins' category with a grand total of 10

can i win the prize for most shit unnecessarily destroyed and most epic flame pops?

please? :)

Someone left a hammer against the southern wall of the 1st group of sheds closest to the track. Dave's (scandyflick) car was there most of the day.

black handled one im guessing? brendans maybe? i only had my orange mallet with me.

There were also some cables ties but I'm keeping those.

packet of small ones? mine.

PS - pity all the Jap crap out there couldn't keep going until the end of the day. :ninja: How many casualties were there? I don't think my GTR would have survived 7 sessions & 10 spins.

lol, if it werent for my brake issues and fuel surging, i wouldve stayed til the end. i was having a ball.

love to know what sorta times i was running. best estimate is 28/29, pretty respectable i reckon. need to sort out a few niggling issues, like fuel surge and my alignment (way too much rear camber, not enough front castor) and give it another crack.

Great day! Thanks for organising the day Adrian :ninja: Loved the Rolla, its def worth turning into a track car. Was good to see so many skylines out on the track and a few non skylines. I was pretty happy with the way my car ran all day, only had a slight ATTESSA fluid leak, not sure where its leaking from. I'll have to degrease the whole bottom of the car then try find it. Pretty Impressed with HESLO's speed, a set of good tyre's and you'll prob be faster then me.

Found this when i was loading the car on the trailer :P Time to bite the bullet and fork out on a set of big brakes all round.

Cheers bud, as I said, was very happy with how the car performed, bar the tires (which I knew were bad to begin with) and the water temp overheating issues (which I have a few ideas about how to fix) I was only running a smidgen over 1bar of boost today, what were you running?

Not good about the brakes! I had no issues with mine which I thought would be a weak point but didn't experience any fade at all. Probably meant I wasn't pushing hard enough :P

he's worked the clutch already now the brake, damn you must be lethal on those pedals.

im somewhat disappointed that no one got pictures of my apparently epic flames... :ninja:

Blame Craig's camera, I swear I got about 10-12 flames, BIG flames, plus the smoke billowing from your brakes all on footage but the bloody thing stopped recording. Would have been epic

I think I left 2 tyre pressure gauges on the beam in the RH garage, if anyone saw them please let me know.

Yep, was a good day. enjoyed it very much. Would of liked to stay longer but did manage to get 3 sessions in

with both the R33 & the R35 so happy with that.

Think I melted the tyres off the R35 - they are looking quite second hand now!

Having coolant issues with the race car but other than that was running well.

It was good to get it out there & get some practice in with the new set up.

Will have to get some vents organised because it is like a sauna in there with out any air flow.

Thanks for making it happen Adrian, well done. Lets do it again sometime soon.

That 33 is a sight (and sound) to behold Munro, props to you for building such an animal

    • You know how your car rolled through a fence in your last jacking escapade? Scissor jacks increase the likely hood of that sort of thing happening immensely!
    • http://calfinn.com.au/product/1500kg-standard-trolley-jack-cj-2t-c/1500kg-standard-trolley-jack-cj-2t-c   I have this and fits under a S3 33 GTR with no issues. Purchased in 2009 and not one issue. It was $950 back then. Not cheap but something so important isn’t worth cheaping out on.
    • Just trying to get my head around this. At 5psi of boost, you turn on your wmi pump, and then you're using a 3000cc injector, to allow flow upto the actual engine, where you have your 6x200cc injectors and a 500cc injector. If the above is correct, what advantage are you obtaining by having the 3000cc injector blocking flow, is this just incase a line breaks between that injector and the motor you can stop flow immediately? Or are the 6x200cc and 500cc less injectors and just spray nozzle?
    • Welcome! New member myself, but I had an R33 back in 2002. Best advice I could give, based on my experience: if you're running the factory turbo, be very conservative with boost. I made the mistake of just fiddling around with the boost controller and cranking the boost for fun, and the end result was my intake pipes popping off frequently from the constant deluge of oil that was being blown into the recirc by the stressed-out turbo, which itself was siphoning oil from the engine and farting it out both sides of its centre bearing (or something to that effect). If I could do it all again, I would have gotten a new turbo and had a tune dialled in professionally and then just left it alone! Funny you mention the metal shavings in the gearbox, as I had the same thing - the probe plug (magnetic drain plug, essentially) would come out caked with shavings. At least it was doing its job. Not sure if that's just sacrificial wear and part of the deal, or if my gearbox was shagged, but I wasn't abusing it. Enjoy the R33 - they're a dying breed, and if they weren't $35k+ on CarSales in Queensland, I might have picked up one of those again, instead of the 370GT I own now (though I'm loving the 370GT, that big 3.7L V6 just hits different).
    • Howdy folks. I owned an R33 back in 2002, which was thoroughly beyond my capacity (financially speaking) to maintain/insure, so we parted ways in 2004. Fast forward 21 years (to literally yesterday, in fact) and I'm now the proud owner of a 2007 V36 370GT. I'm happily surprised by how much power the VQ37VHR makes, compared to the RB25DET, considering the latter is turbocharged. I had planned to add a turbo at some point but I'm on the fence about whether I'll even need it (though I do love the sudden onset of extra torque). Any other 370GT owners around the traps, I'd love to hear about your experiences with this car (good and bad).
