although i would love to have the rx7, as this will be my everyday car was a tough decision but i think ive decided to go with the r33 gtr cause its alot more reliable and practical.

if it were to be my weekend car i would def pick the series 8 rx7.

thanks for the input guys,

looks wise the rx7 has it all the way. it has a sex appeal that the 33 will never be able to achieve lol

Sure but the Skylines bring a certain notoriety, mystique...it's an image thing. That is kind of sexy in its own way. RX7's won't attract the Cops.

rx7 = Winona Ryder (beautiful but fragile and delicate)

Skyline = Michelle Rodriquez (tough with attitude)

:P

I'm probably one of the biggest GTR fanboys around, but in all seriousness, if a 2 seater was an option for me. it would take a damn damn good GTR to make me not buy Baron's RX7.

This thing is stunning!!!

if only the r33 gtr's looked like that.. ohh heaven.. if i wasnt married to RB engines, id have one in a snap.. but that feels like cheating to me..

rx7 is a super hot bikini model. hot, fit, built proper, tempermental, could let go at any minute, constantly in your wallet.

r33 gtr is your missus. bit bulgy in areas, reasonably good looking, fun to have around, good at most things it does, doesnt ask much, in it for the long haul, trustworthy.

lol, I like your analogy. Going by that theory, my missus (as a Supra) is sexy, has a big ass, is very willful and can be difficult to control. Pretty accurate when I think about it.

ahahaha, i love this misses vs car analogy's, lemme try: my misses is like an r35 gtr, very clever, tame and dosile most of the time but can still set my pants on fire when the mood strikes and with those 2 turbos, sucks pretty hard too lolz.

maybe we should have a thread dedicated to guys comparing their girls to cars; good idea ey!

i always name my cars according to their personality and who they remind me of.

does that mean though.. that like the hakosukas and 240z's are like sophia loren and audrey hepburn... bit older, but still has a fire in the belly and would rock your world.. just needs a good sleep afterwards??

and new fandangle cars with all new fancy doodads and gadgets are like 18 yr olds.. great fun, awesome lines, go all night, but not sure about what they want in life, how long they are gonna be around, etc??

ive always said cars are like girls.... and girls are like food. some people like a different meal every night, some like the same old thing.. some like a big meal, some like a lot of little meals.. some plate up well... some dont.. but they are still delicious.

just curious, how many kms do you think the r33 gtr could last without a major rebuild? the stock turbos im guessin would be the 1st to go yeh?

You'd have to know what the former owner/drivers were like with their

a) driving habits

b) servicing diligence

Sure...

i) conrods/pistons weren't as strong as a 2JZ

ii) long crankshaft could develop a whip with launches

iii) turbos blades could fragment on high boost

But...

since I treated my old trusty R33 GT-R like...

1) my G/F and not...

2) my mother-in-law,

I got a lot of Kms out of her whilst she was dead stark and received her lubes on time every time.

She was Purple at Midnight too lol

it will still last longer than a rotary at high kms. ive seen GTRs going more than 200,000kms and still going strong especially if you take care of them properly, even the turbos. to me a rotary is like some women: if you dont drive it hard, it whinges and sometimes it wont start because the engines flooded (not what you want for a daily driver and ive seen it happen many times when the car comes in on a tow truck and owners saying it wont start) and if you drive it hard, it still whinges and like i said at 50,000kms or more when driving hard, it might go bang so, to sum up, its unpredictable and doesnt know what it wants to do exactly. while rotarys are good as race cars, its hard to live with it as a daily driver and the GTRs have more successes as a race car.

    • The wideband reading is meaningless if it's not running. Why are you using shitty old sidefeeds on any engine, let alone a Neo? What manifold and fuel rail are you using to achieve that? Beyond that, can't help you with AEM stuff as I've never been their ECU/CAS combo.
    • Manual boost controllers (where a little of the boost was bled off) were quite common back in the day, because they were cheap and easy. Generally they had a manual adjustment screw rather than being fixed like yours. Down side is they always bleed boost, not just when you want them to so an electronic boost controller that uses a solenoid will have less lag.
    • Hello , im new here and i have A31 home build  RB25det neo stock eng / turbo  aem ems 2 blue connector  aem 3.5 map aem cas disk aem wideband connected to ecu  355 lph pump 550 nismo yellow injectors side feed aftermarket regulator  and won’t start with base aem tuner basic tune eventually flipped cas 180 degree so it triggers on correct stroke not in exhaust cycle  Now it won’t start Wideband reads 10 and 11 at lowest fuel setting  and will share calibrations soon for aem tuner i think something is wrong in aem tuner    please if you have any information, am very grateful
    • Legend. I ended up finding the facebook account of the owner of the first car i sent but sadly he deactivated the account. I think you’re right in saying it’s some sort of well done custom job. Really appreciate your help anyways.
    • Totally equivalent. Stock often goes from the comp cover because that's where the actuator is also installed and the factory needs 2" of hose to make the connection - and it comes as a pre-assembled unit. They totally have a boost reference from somewhere between the turbo and the throttle(s). Oh, jeez. Just do it in M12 then. We don't actually care that much. I would expect any such AN converter fitting to rely on an o-ring or some other seal onto a flat surface under the flange of the hex**, because bolt threads are no intended to provide a pressure seal. unlike..... pipe threads. **which also requires a suitably flat and smooth surface on the turbo's boss to provide the seal.
