we're there from the 3rd to 8th of Dec ;)

also how full will that 20ft container be? want to bring some shit (ie. wheels) back but dont knw where to start :(

Steve and Sh@un and i are going over together.

I will definitely be in a sep room to Steve though. Snoring asshole lol

I loved "The B" and the Hilton, a bit out of it though. Grand Palace, Hyatt, Prince- Shinagawa.

Just have a look on Asia Rooms and book in the city.

Nothing a $30 cab fare and a train ride cant fix to meet up.

No ragged hotels for me.

Steve send me through the flight details please hombre.

hahaha

was reading through some of your posts and the "snoring". funny as hell. wouldnt want to be there though

definitely should meet up

OK now that we know there are a few of us going, im trying to find things to do to fill the time there.

Here are a few suggestion:

Nismo Festival

Half day in Odaiba, check out Palette Town, ferris wheel etc

Chiba for Crystal and Top Secret

Hire a van for night out at Diakoku Futo. Drive the C1 loop?

Any Sumo things happening?

Any track days at Tsukuba, Honjo or Mobara?

When is the REV SPEED Time Attack on??

I will be a nismo fest with two mates. I would double check the D1 as last i heard that round was cancelled.

Staying at Shinjuku Prince Hotel 4-10th dec and The Prince Park Tower Tokyo 14-17th

Hope to hire a GTR on the 8th or 15th fingers crossed

Cheers Brad

Hmmm just checked the official D1 site and there is no mention of the Tsukuba round :D

The last round is on the 10th of Nov.

Can someone there in Japan confirm???

I was really looking forward to watching a D1 round.

going from Tsukuba (sat) then to Fuji Speedway (sun) the next day might just be too much travelling?

thanks NYTSKY for these

Drive the C1 loop?

something we might do as well now :D

also GTR hire for 6hrs might be the go for Us. Dont want to be stressing overnight and looking for damn parking.

Look again.

D1 Street Legal, not D1.

Just got told I'm free until after Christmas...Most likely stay at the Keio Plaza West Shinjuku unless someone has a better idea. I'll be up for visits etc especially a trip to Diakoku Futo. Garage Saurus would be good

In the process of finding a good place to rent a 35GTR. Want to drive to Diakoku Futo on the Friday night and have a drive along the Wangan

$470 for 12hrs, anyone find cheaper?

The Prince is right on the Red light super fun happy harassing massage strip.

Ok to stay in, close to Shinjuku Station though keep a lead baggy covering the front of your pants for protection at night.

I hired a Porsche from premium rent.

They were pretty easy to deal with and even accepted a faxed copy of my International driving permit.

I will be grabbing something quick for Nismo Festival.

those that have been

is it worth getting the tourist japan rail pass? its approx $350 for 7 days unlimited use

there's 3 of us so it ends up quite costly.. think we're better off just hiring a car (hopefully with english gps)

Last time i went i got one for 14 days, was only around the $260 mark back then.

Because i was using the Shinkansen the JR pass was well worth it, as one trip from Osaka to Tokyo was about $100.

The JR pass is only good for JR train trips. I dont think you will clock up $350 worth of train travel in 7 days.

The trains are fantastic IMO for traveling around Tokyo, i would only hire a car if you plan on going to places a long way from a train staion or traveling just outside Tokyo.

    • Nah. You need 2x taps for anything that you cannot pass the tap all the way through. And even then, there's a point in response to the above which I will come back to. The 2x taps are 1x tapered for starting, and 1x plug tap for working to the bottom of blind holes. That block's port is effectively a blind hole from the perspective of the tap. The tapered tap/tapered thread response. You don't ever leave a female hole tapered. They are supposed to be parallel, hence the wide section of a tapered tap being parallel, the existince of plug taps, etc. The male is tapered so that it will eventually get too fat for the female thread, and yes, there is some risk if the tapped length of the female hole doesn't offer enough threads, that it will not lock up very nicely. But you can always buzz off the extra length on the male thread, and the tape is very good at adding bulk to the joint.
    • Nice....looking forward to that update
    • Neg, the top one is actually for the front. The sizes are 18x10.5 +18 and 18x11 +32.   I measured many times but I'm sure I'll have problems as this is the thread for problems.
    • Just one thing; tapping tapered threads is tricky. Taps are always tapered and you would generally run it as far as you can, but with a tapered thread you have to stop much sooner otherwise the wide part of the taper will run in too far and you will have to thread the sensor in too far too as well (possible that it will never make a good seal) BTW nice wide wheels, I guess the top one is for the back!
    • Welp, good to know. Will have to wait awhile until steady hands with drills and taps are available. In other news, these just arrived! I will weigh them for posterity. Edit: 11kg each (or 10.9/11.1 depending on what my scale decides over multiple tests, the 18x11 don't seem to weigh noticeably any more than 10.5)
