i'm not sure if it'll work because the current tuning they have are in different octane term than ours.

But i could be wrong as i never read anything from the 350z guys using the 350z USA ECU.

PS> I'm guessing you are talking about the ECU not the Dash Computer?

Wouldn't make any sense to use the ECU. I'd say the US dash comp in order to get screen etc in engrish.

I have a US ecu in my 2003 sedan, part of the conversion from 8 speed to 5 speed auto. Type 1

It runs well, good fuel efficiency no pinging. Have not checked on a dyno though.

Need to also think about pollution control differences, my engine light is always on due to not having fuel vapor control. Eventually will find someone to turn it off.

Being 2003 model, only had to get the security number from Nissan. May be bigger issues with later models.

Hope this helps.

hi guys. Has anyone gotten any further with this?

I own a 2003 v35 350GT. I'm a noob in ECU management and interfacing. And would like your opinon/ suggetions for the questions below.

1. Are the ECU's for the M35, V35 and 350Z similar?

2. Are these ECU's interchangeble after tuning?

3. My ECU/ OBD currently talks Consult (or so i have been told). If i could change the ECU, would the OBD connector then talk in the standard OBDII ? (I would love this, as i could then use my android tab with the Torque App)

Any advice is appreciated.

What's the point?

Are you trying to tune, or get a replacement ecu?

Even within models there are many multiples of ECU part numbers, there are awd models, auto, manuals, etc. I don't see a lot of compatibility happening. The computers are physically the same for the vq35 models, and any model of that can have the program ripped, and sent to Uprev to decode and provide a tuneable file.

hmmm...thanks for that info mate.

the only question i have left is, what's the best way to display live Engine data while driving? I was looking for something like Torque or similar on Android.

Any specifics will be great.

hi Scott,

mate are you sure that a standard OBD EML327 cheapy from ebay would work on my 2003 Skyline V35 350GT ???

any specifics i need to look out for on the Torque App? only asking, coz i have tried a fair few times on my Samsung tab 3 with a ELM OBD Bluetooth thingy. I doesn't read the protocols and keeps going round in circles.

No idea, all I know is the 3.5L was able to keep being produced after 04 due to it being OBD2 compliant, unlike the VQ25. I assumed the standard OBD2 readers would work.

If they don't you are stuck with the usual Greddy touch or HKS OB link units, both of which work on the 2.5det. I have an OB link here I am trying to sell actually. Check it out.. ;)

    • Absolute f*cking nightmare. I had to take breaks constantly, and I was always pissed off when I got home. The line split in Italy on day 2 (we drove from the Netherlands), lol. Driving any narrow European town was... well, sh*t.   Appreciate it man. Here, I'll just drop a favourite from the load I took on Saturday.   I'll update here when things happen with the car, the thing is, with stock power and almost everything chassis-wise taken care of, there really are no problems. 268,000kms now and counting.
    • Ah! I actually managed to snag a lightly used set.... that aren't so suitable for me right now. They don't work on a GTT without some cutting or creative heat moulding. I thought about reselling them myself cause I didn't want to murder them, but it looks like I'm probably going to attempt to murder them/melt them because I may as well. @GTSBoy @PranK can somebody close this thread?
    • Hey mate,  I have a set, one is slightly damaged but wont be noticable once installed.  Shoot me a message if your still after them
    • I couldn't wait But, the black constant tension hose clamps were too thick and there wasn't enough clearance at the T/B and I couldn't get it to seat properly, so I had use a silver one there I also added some 3" silicone over the alloy bit that goes through to hole on the radiator support as it looked like it was sitting on the edge of the hole in the radiator support, I never noticed a rattle or anything, but there was a witness mark It is basicly done, and I can live with the silver hose clamp at the T/B, I will get a black clamp for the head vent though where it is attached to the bulkhead fitting  It never stops...LOL, only issue now with the shock tower brace is it slightly touches the under bonnet liner now, if I leave it it will either wear some paint off the brace where it touches, or damage the liner, so I removed the liner to see what I have to work with, with the liner removed I have about 20mm of clearance, but sadly the middle part of the underside of the bonnet is only dusted with paint and looks crap, so I cannot have that, but.... as I have a roll of Carbuilders premium under bonnet insulation in the garage laying around that is only 5.5mm thick (we were going to use it on the boys Patrol, but he crashed the front of it a few months and it was written off, hence why he now drives my old Honda Accord Euro), I'll use the OEM liner as a template and get the Carbuilders stuff fitted up to cover that dusted paint up
