I'd probably weld it too if it can be done successfully....forking out $1500 or more for an aftermarket job just to gain approx 5rwkw aint worth it IMHO

only 5rwkw? i know cubes says its one of the most important upgrades for the hybrid RB30 engines

im not saying luke should do it for the 26 and if he hasent go the money for it now, of corse try welding it up... but it should be something on his list of things to do for the 30!

The difference is going from the standard RB20/25 over the top intake manifold to a front facing manifold then there would be gains to be had, but Luke's manifold is a GTR manifold and there are plenty for GTR's making up to insane amounts of power still using the factory GTR manifold.

The Greddy and hypertune manifolds will give you slight increases in the top end when you are making massive amounts of power but you will be getting this gain at the cost of low down and midrange power, and like SLED said your only talking 20-30HP gains on a 700HP engine but your are losing like 80HP below 5000rpm

Haha yeah think im missing the 33 like you missed yours. Got a few guys to talk to about it to get a bit more history on it, but the guy that owns it use to work at Autobarn.

I may even be taking it out of context, it was a while ago i read it and perhaps it was just about 20/25's and i read 26's into it, but without actually finding the post im pritty sure it was also including (if not specifically about) 26's and it was sugesting a particular brand and not greddy/hypertune... and coming from an rb30 guy that knows his stuff so i'd take his advice, or at least strongly consider it, if i was doing any kind of 30.

in the end, its lukes car, lukes money and lukes goals so he can do anything he likes. i was just reminding him what cubes had said

absolutely!

and hey, did i read correctly last night on FB - the little yellow weapon is finished!!!!???

just bought one of the turbosmart boost tees :)

do you mean the turbo-tech ones Damo? thought you were having issue with the t-smart one

i second the turbo-tech tees like the others here, had one on my white 33 - held 11-almost 12psi up to very high revs. The Mines ECU had set the limiter @ just over 8000rpm too

yeah i mean Turbotech

my current boost curve drops off a fair bit, from 10psi down to around 7 by redline. holding the boost higher through the revs with the new boost tee will obviously affect my tune wont it?

    • Not sure the US can import anything other than the C34 Stagea's, but if you can and you need to to tow, DO NOT under any circumstances get an M35 Stagea. If it is just as a family car and your country/state allows it, absolutely and definitely get an M35 (3.5L if possible as it is effectively a 350Z) over a C34.
    • Punch your VIN (nm35-xxxxxx) into Amayama.com You can see everything there quite easily.
    • Thanks for that, I'll check it all out. I can always do the brakes last anyway if its a problem.  The 16's are super cool, if they do fit I'll cruise around with them for a bit.
    • Well, that's kinda the point. The calipers might interfere with the inside of the barrels 16" rims are only about 14" inside the barrels, which is ~350mm, and 334mm rotors only leave about 8mm outboard for the caliper before you get to 350, And.... that;s not gunna be enough. If the rims have a larger ID than that, you might sneak it in. I'd be putting a measuring stick inside the wheel and eyeballing the extra required for the caliper outboard of the rotor before committing to bolting it all on.
    • OK, so again it has been a bit of a break but it was around researching what had been done since I didn't have access to Neil's records and not everything is obvious without pulling stuff apart. Happily the guy who assembled the engine had kept reasonable records, so we now know the final spec is: Bottom end: Standard block and crank Ross 86.5mm forgies, 9:1 compression Spool forged rods Standard main bolts Oil pump Spool billet gears in standard housing Aeroflow extended and baffled sump Head Freshly rebuilt standard head with new 80lb valve springs Mild porting/port match Head oil feed restrictor VCT disabled Tighe 805C reground cams (255 duration, 8.93 lift)  Adjustable cam gears on inlet/exhaust Standard head bolts, gasket not confirmed but assumed MLS External 555cc Nismo injectors Z32 AFM Bosch 023 Intank fuel pump Garret 2871 (factory housings and manifold) Hypertune FFP plenum with standard throttle   Time to book in a trip to Unigroup
