Nightcrawler
I take it you didn't have an alarm Mark? I am sure you will rectify that situation VERY, VERY soon. If you did then I apologise, but my (outspoken) opinion is that any Skyline driver without an alarm deserves to have his car stolen. For the sake of a few hundred bucks it is not foolproof protection, but in this case where the car was close to the home you most certainly would have heard an alarm, or the more likely scenario is they wouldn't have even bothered trying. All car thieves have a special place reserved in hell for them .... right next to Hitler. BIT SUS
ive got a guard dog who barks at anything suspicious at night but it was out the front of a mates house LITERALLY OUT THE FRONT DOOR 15 meters from the street.. i feel so blessed that it wasnt stolen.. the feeling of walking out of my mates house and my car not being there is one of the most SICKENING feelings ive felt in a long time.. theives with my bullet proofe love... f**k knows how i would have survived with it gone. no damamge to door locks !??!?! just ignition barrel.... Know that feeling mate, your heart just sinks. I'm glad to hear you have the car in one piece. My suggestions are next time you are worried about your car, take one of the ECCS relays out (big blue or green ones in engine bay), and put in your pocket when you leave the car. Even if they manage to break in, hotwire the car, bypass the immobiliser, and try and start the car, it simply will not run. Having kill switches is simply no longer enough. Thieves are smart, and can bypass switches by cutting wires and splicing looms. However how many thieves do you know carry Nissan 4 pin relays in thier pockets??? Added with a decent clublock, I garantee your car will not leave the driveway without someone noticing! I have worked in the car security scene for a while now, and I know some of the tricks of the trade, and the things thieves will go to to steal a car, or gain a few bux, is insane! Take sydney car thieves. They walk past parked cars in the dark with a portable xray scanner, scanning for laptops and ipods under seats and in centre consoles. They will mark the cars with chalk, and a second thief will go past behind them, smash the windows or unlock doors, and simply load up on electrical goods and valuables. I've also heard of thieves in Melbourne using magnets to unlocks doors on Nissan X-trails, and several other ridiculous methods. Good luck repairing the ignition barrel, and getting the car cleaned up. PS: check the amount of play in your glass on your drivers door, and your interior light funtions. Nigel. Bl4cK32
Dont think his insurance would cover building the engine? Insurance could be agreed value. If hes listed the skyline for a couple more than its worth to cover the small pieces then he could get some money back if something ever goes wrong. With a car thats targeted you should have full comp insurance. Wont get everything back, but in the real world you wouldnt get all mod money back if you sold it either... Didn't know you work in the car security Nigel? are you on "12volt insider" forums ? easy to take a car without a relay, it's called a flatbed ! even GPS won't stop a car thief. they can thwart that as well , if they want your car consider it gone!!!! but a skyline doesn't draw that super hard core crim. like a prized priceless car a alarm is only as good as the installer and must be used 100% of the time no exceptions, club lock added you try to make the thief take too much time to be worth his/her time. if you leave loose items that can be turned for a quick buck it will get broken into even when putting petrol in , 100% locked and no purses or crap/iphones on the seat, smash and grab thiefs don't care about camera's if you read this forum on the car audio section we cover the gamut of questions for security options. the sky is the limit ! some extreme , but you can stop 95% of the car theft and about 80% of car breakins if your careful and vigilant. you wouldn't leave your kids on a pedophiles street... but you will leave your prized car on the curbside waiting to be fondled by everyone ??? at least your car is in one piece, do not pass go, go straight over to get a proper alarm fitted !!!!
