Just thought I'd tell you guys of a fcouple of things I've found out about my R34 over the course of owning it.

The tiptronic gearbox in the non-turbo is the same unit as the turbo one has! I'm guessing due to the expense of developing two differnet items for a car that had a limited existance.

I'm yet to confirm this for the non-turbo manual 5 speed, as I don't have access to one to check out.

Also R34's use top-feed injectors for the whole range..from RB20, RB25 to RB26...yet another strange thing.

666DAN - Our GTT's (RB25DET) use side feed Injectors, not top feed (see Here) and, at the moment, I can only find one injector upgrade (Nismo 480cc) because they're some kind of special plastic version and therefore R33 ones won't work! (unless you change the fuel rail and/or the resistor packs)

PS

Here's a piccy of an RB20'd R34

MY old GTS was powered by an RB20E. It wasn't that bad! It wasn't good either, but it was a skyline and it was cheap. So, if I had to guess why Nissan made the Skyline range available with a RB20E I'd say to reduce the cost of the entry model to appeal to more people.

The surprising thing about the skyline is tha although it's a kick-ass sports car, it's also a 4 door family sedan that Grandpa Joe likes driving around in...and granpa Joe usually doesn't care how many cams are under the bonnet... :(

There is actually a name for those rb20e R33's, but i cant remember what it is.  I think it started with "E"  Someone who had one should know.

Nissan Skyline "Extremelyslowcarthatlookslikeasportscar"?

But Nismo only supply top-feed aftermarket injectors for the R34 series, as they are the only direct replacements for the factory rail...which is top-feed....go have a look, I've even taken my one out. YES R33 RB25's use side feed...not the R34.

Check this out...

so are they low or high impendence?

would GTR ones fit?

They're the opposite of the GTR ones but I can't remember which they are (I think it's high)

the only upgrade I could find (from any maker) was the Nismo 480cc ones, but if you alter the resistor pack then you could fit GTR ones I suppose.

    • This sounds like someone who would have owned an R33 in their past... It's okay, I'm 100% picking up what you're putting down Mark.
    • Just back on what was raised about jacking off the the tow/tie down point on the front of cars. I've used it plenty. I've also watched it on a car where you could see it move the front end of the car. It was like the front end/whole car being tweaked and twisted a bit. I will say, I struggle to find good jacking points on MOST cars. The ones that have good points, I then normally struggle to find a jack tall enough to make the car change height!   One of my go to points for either the jack, or the axel stands though, is either a suspension pickup point, OR a subframe to chassis major bolting point. I actually think its the subframe on my R33 that has a bit of a bend in it, from being jacked in the middle too. However, it could have been one of my many other cars I've had over the years! Or it could also be the from me jacking it up, and the fact the top of the front radiator support isn't there, so it can allow the front of the car to move and bend etc.
    • My apologies. I forgot we were talking about weird beard M series stuff. Had been talking elsewhere with someone about an R33 with similar subject and got confused.
    • Nope, I don't like the look of ND RF, or any ND really, I don't like their faces or arses, why, because of their "modern" lines, the NC, whilst "modernish" has a more rounded shape that I like Well, that's how my overly judgemental eyes see it anyway
    • Should be more than fine, especially the overall fuel pressure would never exceed 3.5bar (assuming that thing never gets more than 0.5bar of boost in stock form). According to the chart, it's 11amps.
