boostdq
Hi guys. Im curently trying to paint my car and the gun keeps malfunctioning. The flow of paint cuts out every few seconds. Ive tried every setting and found that running the compressor at 5 bar gives me continuous flow, but the paint comes out powdery and with a massive amount of overspray. Ive pulled the gun apart and cleaned it a few times but it doesnt make much difference. The gun didnt do this when i bought it. Any ideas on whats up? jimmyr31
adjust the amount of paint going through the gun and run through a regulator. also maybe your compressor isn't big enough to paint an entire car with constant air flow. thats a common problem with backyarders. What gun is it? Edited October 18, 2009 by jimmyr31 Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/292390-problem-with-spray-gun/#findComment-4886114 Share on other sites
boostdq
Cheers guys. The gun was something i picked up at autobarn for 100 bucks, but it worked fine for the first few days. This is the second time ive painted the car in a few weeke cos i didnt like th colour, worked the first time. the compressor is 50 litres, 2.5 HP 168L/min i think. I dnt think ive ran it as low as 25psi, Ive had it set to 3-400 kpa i think. i might give that a shot Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/292390-problem-with-spray-gun/#findComment-4886161 Share on other sites
32_Dave
i spray 2pak etch @ 30psi, surface primer @ 25 and finish @ 25 then all left is adjusting the spray width and paint flow. what size nozzle is the gun your using? 666DAN
Gravity gun, suction gun or pressure pot? Have you checked to make sure it's 100000% clean with no cured paint in there, the tiniest bit of shit can play havoc?
