I am looking at replacing my stock clutch fan with a twin thermo set up and these have caught my eye.

R32 Fan Shroud

If I go down this path I will use the Jaycar kit # KC5381 to control the twin fan setup.

found @ Jaycar

Can anyone vouch for these units or are they just a waste of time and money?

Cheers!!!

best thing I ever did to my 32GTR cooling wise was go back the stock setup

much more consistent for track days an just general driving around but mostly trackdays

that said the thermofan setup put on by a previous owner was shithouse

would be very interested to hear if you get this what sorta quality it is an if you have good results?

agreed.

But those rad shroud kits are a bit dear (can get rad and setup for that price from ASI on ebay)

for a fan controller use this, it is the best ive used full stop. http://shopdrift.com/Products/D1-RFCD12V/R...troller12V.aspx

Nice controller!

Are those ASI radiators any good?

depends on the model car, they are cheap so dont expect much but so far no major issues (except AE86, we've used about 10 so far in diff cars), i wont be putting one in any decent track cars though. We flow tested a ASI GTR version against the KOYO and greddy ones and they were a long way behind (i think the ASI (and most cheap china rads) top and lower tanks are too small)

Well after a bit of research I have decided to go and build my own shroud and use 2 x 12 inch 1000 cfm fans from Davies Craig.

If it all goes pear shaped I'll just buy a new fan clutch from Davies Craig and retain stock setup.

Will be a bit of a challenge to get it right but that's what its all about.

Will post a few pics once done.

Fair enough, I had one of those Mspec ones from the groupbuy ages ago and not really happy with it. Going back to the 32R radiator, keeping engine fan, twin thermos on the front, have removed aircon and will be going slightly nuts with the ducting.

    • All of this is making it seem clear that running the Coppermix twin was definitely the way to go, especially in hindsight with how insane tariffs have gotten and the strength of the USD vs yen at the time.
    • That sounds like no chance of even importing one for road registering then Now I see why Duncan wants to check LHD rules for Targa...   I wonder how "bolt in" the AWD would be if you got one imported from the US and swapped it to an AUD one
