Thanks mate, I felt a bit out of place amongst all the V8's! I was surrounded by them, there was only about 6 other FWD cars there.

Did anyone see the 32 gtr that was absolutely off its head last Friday night (the 4th)... It ran an 11.4 or something. he had it parked near the track before it got dark - spewing I didn't have my camera it was perfection up close. would LOVE to do mine like that

What colour was it? I remember 2. One looked more track than drag with an older guy (open face helmet) driving it. The other one had sparkly glitter paint.

It was a sick night. I loved it. Been missing it the last few years. I'm going to get myself some drag tyres and go there early next year. ;)

Shame there was no burnout comp. The 7.67sec mustang was awesome!!!

Yeah I saw the sparkly one! I'm thinking of the gun metal grey one with the te37s and slicks with the writing on the tyre walls. Yeah I couldn't believe how many people were there it was sweeeet! I'd be keen to have a crack I've never done it before :D

Did it take long to get out of the car park? I bailed about 15 minutes early to try and beat the rush

well it will cost more if u get busted doing it illegally. true?? lol

Irrelevant. Calder once again are working AGAINST motorsport enthusiasts - common theme with Calder Management stemming from that muppet Bob and his actions in the 1990's.

The only reason Calder is SO packed out now because of its "limited" days, it totally defeats the purpose.

Bad enough $65 and get 6-10 runs, but now you get maybe 2?

Forget it. But sadly people are stupid and still attend because its the ONLY choice they have.

Calder management are deliberately limiting the days to max out attendance, make them look successful etc etc when realisitcally all it's doing it starving the people with contiminated water.

Being the facility is shit.

However, you can't 'not' attend now can you? Being if you don't, it'll close forever. Calder Management are purely and simply driven by the dollar.

They have been for a number of years and the cash grabbing is only getting worse. Seems Bob's purse must be a bit light on these days.

Yeah that 32 was cool

I stayed almost to the end and there wasn't a rush out of the place.

Another cool thing last week was the insane drifters doing low 11's with their silvia/180 drift cars! I was very suprised with their times. Big 15in tyres though.

While I hate Calder Park management, there is nothing else so if they continue to run it fortnightly from feb on I will run my car and spectate a bit too. They will prob limit to 200 cars all the time so you get more than 2 runs.

And I thought there wasn't enough options for circuit stuff. At least we have sandown, winton and PI to keep us busy.

i ran my 180sx, i arrived at calder at 245....lol

car was running like shit....intake pipe came off twice and injectors were maxed out by 3rd gear. best time was 14.1 which i wasnt happy with....

that white 32gtr had problems and still ran 13s

my mate in a VL had 5 runs, if u line up early at srutineering ull get more runs...

On the 6th Nov drags, it was absolute havoc.. I think as a spectator it was a bargain since there was just so much to see, but trying to get a run would have been devastating. I was at the front gates when I saw some of the problems unfold. They had a ticketing screwup..(poor girl was stressing big time, so many people queuing up with cars) and along with that they actually thought they had reached the max drag car quota. :P

At that point there was at least 100 race cars waiting at the gates, i thought riots were going to unfold when they were told no more cars!...took them about 20mins to realise they had misplaced some of there ticketing.. At that point things started to trickle through. That would have caused significant delays for everyone getting runs IMO. Hope things don't get any worse than that..

I guess I can see why calder have reduced the days last time I was there, fk all ppl were. No spectators, and very few cars. I wonder if all those complaining now actually supported it when it was on. Cause to be honest I dont remember all these ppl even being there. But it worked for me...I got 10 runs in before it even got dark. :)

At least now with the limited days, its nearly a guaranteed sell out, as such more spectators...more $$$. Id much rather pay to spectate when its busy, but I'd rather pay to enter when its quieter...so you just cant keep everyone happy all the time, with anything.

    • Thanks for that, I'll check it all out. I can always do the brakes last anyway if its a problem.  The 16's are super cool, if they do fit I'll cruise around with them for a bit.
    • Well, that's kinda the point. The calipers might interfere with the inside of the barrels 16" rims are only about 14" inside the barrels, which is ~350mm, and 334mm rotors only leave about 8mm outboard for the caliper before you get to 350, And.... that;s not gunna be enough. If the rims have a larger ID than that, you might sneak it in. I'd be putting a measuring stick inside the wheel and eyeballing the extra required for the caliper outboard of the rotor before committing to bolting it all on.
    • OK, so again it has been a bit of a break but it was around researching what had been done since I didn't have access to Neil's records and not everything is obvious without pulling stuff apart. Happily the guy who assembled the engine had kept reasonable records, so we now know the final spec is: Bottom end: Standard block and crank Ross 86.5mm forgies, 9:1 compression Spool forged rods Standard main bolts Oil pump Spool billet gears in standard housing Aeroflow extended and baffled sump Head Freshly rebuilt standard head with new 80lb valve springs Mild porting/port match Head oil feed restrictor VCT disabled Tighe 805C reground cams (255 duration, 8.93 lift)  Adjustable cam gears on inlet/exhaust Standard head bolts, gasket not confirmed but assumed MLS External 555cc Nismo injectors Z32 AFM Bosch 023 Intank fuel pump Garret 2871 (factory housings and manifold) Hypertune FFP plenum with standard throttle   Time to book in a trip to Unigroup
    • I forgot about my shiny new plates!
    • Well, apparently they do fit, however this wont be a problem if not because the car will be stationary while i do the suspension work. I was just going to use the 16's to roll the old girl around if I needed to. I just need to get the E90 back on the road first. Yes! I'm a believer! 🙌 So, I contacted them because the site kinda sucks and I was really confused about what I'd need. They put together a package for me and because I was spraying all the seat surfaces and not doing spot fixes I decided not to send them a headrest to colour match, I just used their colour on file (and it was spot on).  I got some heavy duty cleaner, 1L of colour, a small bottle of dye hardener and a small bottle of the dye top coat. I also got a spray gun as I needed a larger nozzle than the gun I had and it was only $40 extra. From memory the total was ~$450 ish. Its not cheap but the result is awesome. They did add repair bits and pieces to the quote originally and the cost came down significantly when I said I didn't need any repair products. I did it over a weekend. The only issues I had were my own; I forgot to mix the hardener into the dye two coats but I had enough dye for 2 more coats with the hardener. I also just used up all the dye because why not and i rushed the last coat which gave me some runs. Thankfully the runs are under the headrests. The gun pattern wasn't great, very round and would have been better if it was a line. It made it a little tricky to get consistent coverage and I think having done the extra coats probably helped conceal any coverage issues. I contacted them again a few months later so I could get our X5 done (who the f**k thought white leather was a good idea for a family car?!) and they said they had some training to do in Sydney and I could get a reduced rate on the leather fix in the X5 if I let them demo their product on our car. So I agreed. When I took Bec in the E39 to pick it up, I showed them the job I'd done in my car and they were all (students included) really impressed. Note that they said the runs I created could be fixed easily at the time with a brush or an air compressor gun. So, now with the two cars done I can absolutely recommend Colourlock.  I'll take pics of both interiors and create a new thread.
