I never have an issue... If it's a nice V8 or other car beside me I give the appreciation nod and we both just cruise off...

Last guy who went to plant it stopped as soon as it started to spool and then fluttered massively from 2nd to 3rd... He looked over with a "I would have bitten off more then I can chew"

But other then that... I only really got it from people I actually egged on, half the people who tear off at lights AREN'T trying to race you... I take off quck all the time in the work Jazz... I'm just driving normally

if sumone wants me to drag them i normally just rev the car up and then let them do whatever they have to do when the lights go green, and i just sit there and watch them then i move hahaha

But your car would so fast with the NOS and the big rims, and body kit and those awesome Vinyls!

Oh, but you've got dodgy knock sensors hey?

Tehehehehe...

I wonder If you were the 300zx that I sorta raced last week.   He gave it some so I just rolled on about 3/4 throttle on the bike in fourth and tore away.

If it was me i wasn't racing, im not quite stupid enough to go up against a bike.

i must say i'm guilty of doing this. had a NA 33 next to me at the lights the other day when i was in the missus SSS pulsar. light went green and i took off not fast, but not like a grandma. heard the skyline take off hard and the nose start to move past mine so i floored it and watched the front of the skyline stop moving foward then start to slowly move backwards. then we both lifted off at 60kmh and he seemed to drop right back. the missus was in the car and found it rather amusing.

also had a run with a r32 gts-t in the pulsar. the 32 was in front of me though and they took of hard so i just floored it to see how the pulsar went compared to the rb20 turbo. it was only just pulling away. but again, it was only up to 60kmh before lifting off.

back when i had my gts-t i had more encounters with commodores wanting to race, but pretty much anytime an import was up against me they would try to race me. so if you put it into terms of % of cars wanting to race, imports were about 98%, commodores about 20%.

oh and 131kw in a 1450kg car isn't exactly a lot. you would find that a lot of magna's ect would actually beat you as they would have about the same power but in a slightly lighter car. my first magna had been thrashed and it still had 127kw. but there are plenty out there in better condition with well over 130kw. there are quite a few with just an exhaust putting out around 135kw at the wheels.

yeah no one is,   except other bikes and since I cant ride for shit I lose and its no fun. :)

i did in my 180sx once, but it was my mate on the bike, so i didn't mind watching him disapear into the distance, LOL

I do...

250cc bikes get minced... And rolling runs against 600CC sports bikes is priceless when they look back and they've only pulled around 2 car lengths on you...

Then the harleys... They're like racing Excels...

But haven't ran anyone like that in AGES... Maybe I should go for a drive? :)

Well no magna i've come across has been able to "beat me" as of yet. I never exactly said it was the fastest P plater car but it is pretty quick for an NA. Hell a mates standard R33 GTSt (catback, pod) can only get half a car on me, but he isn't exactly the best driver. In any case can't wait till i go ported plenum w/ SR20 TB's, Extractors&frontpipes Done and a proper tune.

I don't know what it is, but I've had my skyline for a year and a half and no one around here is game enough to line up with me! I'm yet to have a v8 commodore driver sit up to the line with me yet, they all seem to want to sit a car length back....

Too true, had mine 8 months and no one wanted to drag me, although.....

My mate and I (Black R34 GTT) were cruising home on a main highway and this bright green FPV GT-P comes up alongside me at about 80kmh, looks across for about a sec, then keeps going to my mate in front with the GTT. After that, all I hear is the FPV revving its tits off LOL.

I think he got scared of the GTR badge :)

You both drive GTR's, when both of you come across a big hp supra on the highway, you'll know its karma catching up! :) JOKING! :D

I use to get it a bit with my first car (fto.. sporty looking i guess) but the v35 gets no attention at all, it's great! I've owned it for 1 1/2 years now and i honestly can't think of one time where some random tried to start a drag.

Oh crap spoke too soon, ok once in 1 1/2 years still ain't bad right. Stupid aurion..

Though i don't drive it much these days as i've kept it for a weekender (and hardly at that, quite sad).

I guess the fact that some people don't consider the V's as proper skylines coupled with the fact that Skylines are famous upto and including the R34 shape helps as well...no one really knows what the V is, or cares lol.

300zx's are heavy bastards, my mate had a n/a z32 which got flogged by my ratty old beater r31, i was quite surprised.

Yeah they are heavy as shit, the 4 seater Targa tops especially they're like 1520kg for the N/A Variant.

I'm glad you've finally learnt when I'm having a dig at you... LOL

:(

i must say i'm guilty of doing this.

id say we have all been guilty of this at some stage.........

i can honestly say ive never taken on anyone at the traffic lights in my r34, i dont take off like a grandma or anything usually just in between.

when going to work and home there are a couple roundabouts where you slow down from 100km/h and then speed back up to 100km/h and they are double lanes, and thats when i get some people try to outbrake and speed past me, one of them being a golf gti and it was the same guy at the same spot in the same situation 3 days in a row it was crazy, he is very pushy and constantly chaning lanes trying to get ahead and cutting people off but the 3 times he caught up to me on the inside lane trying to pass me at the roundabout he couldnt and he would begin tailgating me because he couldnt get past. then it goes double lanes again up further and i just let him go with a smile on my face lol it was hilarious.

    • Update 3: Hi all It's been a while. Quite a lot of things happened in the meantime, among other things the car is (almost) back together and ready to be started again. Things that I fixed or changed: Full turbo removal, fitting back the OEM turbo oil hardlines. Had to do quite a bit of research and parts shopping to get every last piece that I need and make it work with the GT2860 turbos, but it does work and is not hard to do. Proves that the previous owner(s) just did not want to. While I was there I set the preload for the wastegates to 0,9bar to hopefully make it easier for the tuner to hit the 370hp I need for the legal inspections that will follow later on. Boost can always go up if necessary. Fitted a AN10 line from the catch can to the intake hose to make the catchcan and hopefully the cam covers a slight vacuum to have less restrictive oil returns from the head and not have mud build up as harshly in the lines and catch can. Removed the entire front interior just shy of the dashboard itself to clean up some of the absolutely horrendous wiring, (hopefully) fix the bumpy tacho and put in LED bulbs while I was there. Also put in bulbs where there was none before, like the airbag one. I also used that chance to remove the LED rpm gauge on the steering column, which was also wired in absolute horror show fashion. Moved the 4in1 Prosport gauge from sitting in front of the OEM oil pressure gauge to the center console vents, I used a 3D printed vent piece to hold that gauge there. The HKB steering wheel boss was likely on incorrectly as I sometimes noticed the indicator reset being uneven for left vs. right. In the meantime also installed an airbag delete resistor, as one should. Installed Cube Speed premium short shifter. Feels pretty nice, hope it'll work great too when I actually get to drive. Also put on a fancy Dragon Ball shift knob, cause why not. My buddy was kind enough to weld the rust hole in the back, it was basically rusted through in the lowermost corner of the passenger side trunk area where the wheel arch, trunk panel and rear quarter all meet. Obviously there is still a lot of crustiness in various areas but as long as it's not rusted out I'll just treat and isolate the corrosion and pretend it's not there. Also had to put down a new ground wire for the rear subframe as the original one was BARELY there. Probably a bit controversial depending on who you ask about this... but I ended up just covering the crack in the side of the engine block, the one above the oil feed, with JB Weld. I used a generous amount and roughed up the whole area with a Dremel before, so I hope this will hold the coolant where it should be for the foreseeable future. Did a cam cover gasket job as the half moons were a bit leaky, and there too one could see the people who worked on this car before me were absolute tools. The same half moons were probably used like 3 times without even cleaning the old RTV off. Dremeled out the inside of the flange where the turbine housing mates onto the exhaust manifolds so the diameter matches, as the OEM exhaust manifolds are even narrower than the turbine housings as we all know. Even if this doesn't do much, I had them out anyways, so can't harm. Ideally one would port-match both the turbo and the manifold to the gasket size but I really didn't feel up to disassembling the turbine housings. Wrapped turbo outlet dumps in heat wrap band. Will do the frontpipe again as well as now the oil leak which promted me to tear apart half the engine in the first place is hopefully fixed. Fitted an ATI super damper to get rid of the worn old harmonic balancer. Surely one of the easiest and most worth to do mods. But torquing that ARP bolt to spec was a bitch without being able to lock the flywheel. Did some minor adjustments in the ECU tables to change some things I didn't like, like the launch control that was ALWAYS active. Treated rusty spots and surface corrosion on places I could get to and on many spots under the car, not pretty or ideal but good enough for now. Removed the N1 rear spats and the carbon surrounding for the tailpipe to put them back on with new adhesive as the old one was lifting in many spots, not pretty. Took out the passenger rear lamp housing... what do you know. Amateur work screwed me again here as they were glued in hard and removing it took a lot of force, so I broke one of the housing bolts off. And when removing the adhesive from the chassis the paint came right off too. Thankfully all the damaged area won't be visible later, but whoever did the very limited bodywork on this car needs to have their limbs chopped off piece by piece.   Quite a list if I do say so myself, but a lot of time was spent just discovering new shit that is wrong with the car and finding a solution or parts to fix it. My last problem that I now have the headache of dealing with is that the exhaust studs on the turbo outlets are M10x1.25 threaded, but the previous owner already put on regular M10 nuts so the threads are... weird. I only found this out the hard way. So now I will just try if I can in any way fit the front pipe regardless, if not I'll have to redo the studs with the turbos installed. Lesson learned for the future: Redo ALL studs you put your hands on, especially if they are old and the previous owners were inept maniacs. Thanks for reading if you did, will update when the engine runs again. Hope nothing breaks or leaks and I can do a test drive.
    • No those pads are DBA too  but they have colors too. I look at the and imo the green "street" are the best.
    • I’m not sure what happened I told them about sonic tunes free OTS tune and the next the I know .. I was booted..   To funny
    • Yea - I mean I've seen my fuel pump which is decades old and uh, while I'm not saying this with real knowledge... but I sure get the ick at using anything in the fuel system that produced the state of that pump. Many years ago I went through multiple pumps (and strainers) before I dropped the tank to clean it out with extreme violence. I'm talking the car would do maybe 50km before coming to a halt, which resulted in me cleaning out the filter with some brake cleaner and going on my way. None of my stuff ever looked like what came out of your fuel tank. I don't think I'd be happy with it unless every single component was replaced (or at least checked/cleaned/confirmed to be clean here).
