Hi guys

in the market for a BNR32 GTR atm and found one that caught my eye

black 94' model

now ive done a history background check and foudn the engine # matches the vin# and the description also matches

also the car is not reported stolen nor been in any accidents.

now my concern is that in his advertisement he said that he had owned the car for 12months and bought it from a mate (import dealer)

yet the history check shows its been registered for private use from jan 2008 (obviously 2 years)

and there have been 3 registered operators since the vehicle was first registered in NSW.

should i be suspicious of this? or does revs include previous ownership from other countries a.k.a japan?

also he has not compliance papers that came with car

note: the car is registered and has a RWC

please shed some light on what you guys believe i should do.

is this something to be careful of or am I ok proceed with price negotiation

here is the vehicle history check attached

The car having been 1st registered in Jan '08, and now the rego is due in Jan '10; at least the rego has probably never lapsed.

I guess the importer may have been the 1st owner, and that there's been another one before the current owner (presumably having owned it for 12 months approx).

According to VIN/Chassis# records, was the car ever owned and run in Hokkaido? If so, the car needs to be scrutinised for rust;

besides all your other checks you'll be carrying out.

I rang the owner about the result of the history check and he was unable to figure out apparently why it was registered to 3 previous owners.

Ive decided to hold off the car as it has had no service history and there was a knocking noise from the engine that my mate spotted out.

so guess ill just keep looking.

Well, welcome to the area.

At least the drive up/down thru' Hawkesbury Heights is good for warm-ups! :D

And Putty Rd ain't far away for a longer drive! :)

Have you checked Top Secret Imports at Forge St Blacktown Ph 96761023 for what's available? They've had a good few examples of R32 GT-Rs over the past yr.

haha

Well at the moment im without a vehicle so im unable to get around.

Relying on mates to help me get to places to inspect vehicles.

But im sure when I find the right one i'll might meet you on a cruise or something one day. :D

anyway off the bed as got a long day at work tommorow..

    • Hi GTSBoy, Excuse my ignorance but what does a "Bad" Knee point mean ?
    • HFM BM57 has a "bad" knee point, IIRC. It's not the same thing as the later R chassis MC.
    • The ATTESSA is functionally identical to R34; there were a bunch of JDM models that continued ATTESSA including Fuga/Q70, Skyline/Q50, Cima etc as an option. All with Auto only and I think mostly for snow regions. AFAIK there were no AWD VR30DDTT sold in Australia - it is on my to do list to check regs for racing a LHD car in Targa/ATR/AASA/CAMS events because if I can get the auto to work it would be interesting to run a 4wd car The Ecuteck TCM tuning is the same model as their ECU tuning, they already have it for R35 and Dose's favourite, BMW. You buy "points" to allow your computer to be tuned, buy either a bluetooth (phone app) or bluetooth+USB+Key (phone and PC) dongle, and pay for a tune that will be locked to your tuner ( ). You can also access the tuning software yourself but 1. it is mega expensive and 2. these computers have a billion parameters that intersect, so how could you ever spend enough time on it to get a decent result.
    • Or, is it a case of what it is like owning an R series Skyline? NFI what the previous owner has done or fiddled with... Ha ha ha After reading through this thread, I went on a bit of a research about the Q50/Q60. Now I'm quite intrigued by them! Is the AWD in them more like a WRX where it's always AWD, or is it more like the ATTESSA in the GTRs? By the sound of this TCU tuning, this sounds like a case of someone has made some real software for it, and you just need the right piece of hardware, and then you license that specific vehicle/TCU. Or is this a case of the software will be really expensive so only a few tuners have it, and you still have to pay a license per vehicle?
    • By popular demand.. it was a coil. Got my hands on 1 new OEM coil, replaced with the one that made the less noise difference when I unplugged it while the car was running and started the car up. No stutter and the engine light was gone. I guess I’ll buy the other 5 they have lol
