+1 for the tough book! In the last 6 years, I've drowned it twice, dropped it in the bilge (i work on superyachts) a dozen times, tuned a 3000hp 4000 series MTU marine diesel with 47psi of boost, seen 16 yachts, it's been to 18 countries, 4 continants, saved my ass in 3 air ports, had me questioned once in germany(thought I looked suss with all the datalogging/satalite gear and a millitary toughbook), had 3 different OS's, 2 ram upgrades and downloaded over 300gig or prn...

oh and tuned my GTR... ha ha ha must have flown off the seat 25 times!

without a hicup!!!

who needs a sissy mac!!!

Hey Trent, how do the trust sumps stack up in your sump testing?

Cheers

J.

Its the only one i wont be testing as i know a few guys running them with no issues, the main reason though is in a s13 chassis it will hang too low as ive lowered the engine 25-35mm it will scrap ants off the pavement.

yeah the trust sump is a proven winner if you are staying wet sump and in a 4wd GTR. they are not expensive to buy, just need a competent welder and you're done. they are the right design and are about as far as you can go without it being too low (some would argue it already is a bit low but it has to be).

i had the trust sump in my previous gtr...i always paranoid when there were undulations/pot holes in the road, i used to hold my breath if i couldnt dodge it in time - it hangs way too low for my liking for the street

the rips sump (which i have now) on the other hand is much better in that it does not sit any lower than stock, in fact when i look under the car the cross member is about 10mm lower than the sump

id drop the restrictors down in size, i tested the rear drain on our engine on the dyno and found it did NOTHING useful... so we dont bother with them.

We drop to 0.95 in the drift 26's and have no issues, the 25's need more like 1.2mm or your lifters start to starve.

my engine is running 1mm restrictors in the middle and rear and a bundy tube feed for the VCT from the oil pressure sensor (RB30) and i haven't noticed any lifter noise apart from just after initial startup before oil pressure has risen to operating pressure

    • The fancy pants red shock tower brace is finally incoming from MX5 Mania, getting it shipped from 'Merica has been a long and problematic process, and GWR, the 'Merican supplier will not ship directly to consumers outside of the US, Mania basically had to order a heap of them, the colour choice was silver, or red, and we all know anything red adds 5 killerwasps of dynotorques..... Whilst it does fit over a 2.5, and I've seen a few photos and videos of it being installed and fitting, google also says it might get real close to the FAB9 intake front runner, people in the US says it does fit with the FAB9 intake, except for one person who said it slightly touched.......so there is that.....LOL..... As it seems that I am the first in AU to have this combination of parts there's no local knowledge about fitment, so I'm just a willing guinea pig in this endeavour, I'll cross my fingers and toes and hope for the best In other news, I ordered stuff from China  on the same day I ordered the 23° silicone bend from Victoria, the stuff from China arrived a day ago, the 23° silicone bend is still travelling around Australia thanks to Australia Post, and "may" be here next week
    • Very good news...I contacted Racebox about it last night. My car is a 2016 so remains to be seen if it is compatible, requires a TCU swap, or is impossible.
    • What ECU are you running? This is probably the biggest question. If it's a PowerFC, I'd probably change the ECU and get something newer that will handle the injectors in a nicer way.
    • FYI: Racebox RE7R Custom Tunes Released!   https://goracebox.com/.../2017-infiniti-q50-q60-re7r-tcm...   FOR GEN 2 (21+) VEHICLES, PLEASE SEE NOTE AT BOTTOM See more   But whomever tuned your car is the tuner you should go back to, AMS, Sonictune or BT Tune....
