Hi,

I'm about the have my MR30 parts car taken to the wreckers, what I'm wondering what small parts are worth selling, the reason I said small, is that I live in Tasmania, so freights on larger parts would be to expensive.

I also may try ebay to sell some off it, but since I'm never sold anything on ebay, I'm not sure what the expect.

Hi Nigel,

Try posting a list of (both big and small) parts here, there could be some interest. Also, where are you in Tassy?

JohnH

juast think of anything that can break, like all switches, handles, knobs.

all glass

lower control arms

panels

bonnets

dissy can fetch $200, Ti rims can get up to $60 each,

if the interior is NOT brown keep as much as you can.

Heater core is another item I have replaced

Handbreak cables sieze so keep them

the only problem it comes down to is storage of it all....

Like Mags said the Dissy is the big one. The big 15/16 master cylinder if it has rear disks. Rear calipers. Speedo cable, bonnet and boot cables all break. Engine timing cover if it hasn't corroded. Put the diff and half shafts away for a rainy day or a Tassie local. I've also replaced a heater core...

I've pulled the rear diff assembly (whole trailing arm assembly), front stearing assembly (including struts, brakes, power stearing box / pump), cross member, engine, badges, stearing colum, swaybar, and also got the master cylinder / brake boster

I'll need to get the locks, heater core, cables, tail lights / headlights, as for the pannel, I have no where to store those parts, It's a pitty since there is nothing wrong with them.

the dissy was one of the first thing I took, aswell as the whole EFI that I put into my 240K years ago (the reason on buying the car n the first place), but since moved onto Megasquirt

Hi Nigel,

You say panels are in good condition. Could you post some pics of the car please? How many k's on the clock? Auto/manual?

I'm interested in tie rods if the bushes are in reasonable condition. Maybe some other bits too.

JH

Nigel,

Near on everything mechanical & electrical is good to sell. Ebay is a lucky dip, you can get a sqillion for some things and SFA for others and usually the opposite to what you are thinking. Genuine Ti rims are a good seller & for everyone out there Stewart Wilkins will pay reasonable dollars for all he can get. He uses them on Zed rally cars he prepares, as one car might go out with 4 or 5 sets of rims. Rear trailing arms, especially disc brake models are a good spare as they can get bent, fronts don't worry about as the new Taiwan option @ about $70 each is a better deal.

As has been suggested, put up a list of what you have or are prepared to pull off and let whoever pay the freight if they want it badly enough.

The guys on this forum know I buy near on everything R30 off ebay, that I don't have already for spares as the plan is for my PNV to stay in the family for generations to come. My 24yo daughter has already put her hand up for it when I'm dedd and I'm sure my son would do the same.

Cheers, D

Hi Dennis,

Can you post some details or links about this please?

John

John,

Just walk in to ANY of your local parts outlets, Autopro, maybe Repco, Auto One, Pep's etc etc and ask for MR30 front lower control arms and specify the Taiwanese Import and they will get them for you. I will post pics and part numbers on packs later when more time.

Cheers, D

Here's 2 pictures of what the body looks like, it is a Automatic, box is still in the car,

Dash has been pulled out, but is still sitting inside the car, seat are still in the car, drivers side runner were 'hacked' to fit something else, heater box still in car, less the copper pipes that connected to it. rear seat still in car,

all electrical wiring is missing, engine / efi exhaust, rear suspension , front suspension, cross member, brake booster, master cylinder all been removed,

If some one want some thing, and its worth my while to remove, I can, but be aware I'm in Burnie, Tasmania, so fright on large items will be a killer, and bits can get damaged in freights (like body panels)..

and I do work full time, so the week end is when I get stuff done.

Hi Nigel,

Thanks for posting the pics. Panels look good (and it's hard to find good panels once a car gets to the wreckers). I guess you already have experience with freight costs. I checked out some pricing. Pack-send was really expensive since they direct everything through Hobart! TasFreight quoted $135 per cubic metre (depot-to-depot Launceston to Melbourne, exc gst and no insurance) and then there's all the hassle of packing and transport.

(Still looking for tie rod ends).

cheers,

JohnH

    • Don't even try to run it on the stock ECU if you're going to have the boost controller bring boost above ~10 psi. I've already told you that. If you use the Nistune ECU, you will need to CAREFULLY read the available documentation for Neo tuning, and read some threads on the Nistune forums, to discover the various things you have to do to prevent the ECU from going bananas when the boost is too high. The is a table associated with th boost sensor that must be modified to prevent it from shitting the bed. This is just one of the things that you will need to do to the tune in Nistune, because the Neo turbo ECU will be expecting to see a number of things (such as the TCS) that are not there, and you have to block the DTCs on those. It is totally not surprising to me that you are having the problems that you are, but the solutions to these problems have been known for >15 years. So just get it done.
    • Hi. Sry iam not a mechanic and iam not at the car atm so i dont know 100% but they told they measure those and even try to change those. AFM they have two. Coils are new a they have my old one too. Plugs too. ECU...we have 25 NEO stock and Nistune 25 NEO.   But i dont know if any one those could be the problem and why/if/what can cause this, Only thing they did not check is fuel...but that walbro 255 is new(like 1,5 years)... That fuel pressure gauge idk...but i let them know Any suggestions?   EDIT: how can they know if it is like you say he ECU pull power when it reaches a specific boost level that is too high? Tha car has boost controler
    • Can you clarify what you mean by boost cut, do you mean it misfires both when under load (driving) and when stationary and out of gear? Or does the ECU pull power when it reaches a specific boost level that is too high (boost control issue)? Does it occur at idle with no throttle? When you say "the ECU is OK", what ECU is it and why do you think it is OK? Have you used the NEO ECU, and if so do you have a MAP sensor attached? Same for the AFM, why do you think it is OK? Do you have any way to put a fuel pressure gauge on it (even just a mechanical one between the fuel filter and fuel rail)?
