my GTR 32 has new rims, which i will have on my car when it goes through regency for a full inspection ;) , the size is 17 x 9 +15 offset , stock rims are 16 x 8 +38 (please correct me if wrong) stock track width is 1480mm , the maximum allowable track is 26mm above stock , can anyone tell me if my new rims, track width is illegal. 255 /17 rear , 235/17 front . Or lend me a set of stockies in Adelaide for the regency visit ........... cheers

while im not an authority on rims, i believe that the max upgrade from a stock 8" wide rim is 9" on both sides, making your wheels OK. I dont know anything about offset however. I await scandys or dales input on this thread cos they seems to be the two most wheel savvy folks

-D

wont pass. your 9 +15's bump out the track by an additional 36mm per side over standard. the maximum amount permitted by adr's is about 13mm per side (or, approx 26mm per axle, as you said).

thanks for the info i will need to get my hands on some wheels now ?

you know the widths and offsets of your wheels? easiest/fastest way to check.

if not, bust out the measuring tape and measure between the centre line of the tyres.

i just measured mine and got 1522 mm, stock should be 1480mm + 26mm max =1506mm ;) which means its over by 16mm or 8mm 0n each side, is this worth worrying about .

lol. glad i wasnt the only one thinking that.

probably. depends if the inspector you get got a blowjob that morning or not. you can chance it if you want, but getting standard wheels and fitting them just gives regency one less thing to pick on you about.

Stock 32GTR wheels are 16 x 8 +30.

+17 is the lowest offset you can run. Width is irrelevant in this case, as the offset is the only part of the wheel specs that effects track.

call wheeljerx/adelaide tyrepower/adelaide radial/jap import spares/adelaide jap and see if theyve got a set of passable stockies they can loan you.

:P just today i bought four GTR 33 stock rims which are 17 x 9 +32 offset , i think i got the offset problem sorted now ,but the rims come with 2 different sized tyres 215 front and 235 rear is this ok on GTR or do you need all 4 the same to pass inspection ! thanks

GTR 33 stock rims which are 17 x 9 +30

fixed :P

How GTR rim specs could be so unfamiliar to people on a Skyline forum revered for it's overall technical knowledge is beyond me.

    • Hi GTSBoy, Excuse my ignorance but what does a "Bad" Knee point mean ?
    • HFM BM57 has a "bad" knee point, IIRC. It's not the same thing as the later R chassis MC.
    • The ATTESSA is functionally identical to R34; there were a bunch of JDM models that continued ATTESSA including Fuga/Q70, Skyline/Q50, Cima etc as an option. All with Auto only and I think mostly for snow regions. AFAIK there were no AWD VR30DDTT sold in Australia - it is on my to do list to check regs for racing a LHD car in Targa/ATR/AASA/CAMS events because if I can get the auto to work it would be interesting to run a 4wd car The Ecuteck TCM tuning is the same model as their ECU tuning, they already have it for R35 and Dose's favourite, BMW. You buy "points" to allow your computer to be tuned, buy either a bluetooth (phone app) or bluetooth+USB+Key (phone and PC) dongle, and pay for a tune that will be locked to your tuner ( ). You can also access the tuning software yourself but 1. it is mega expensive and 2. these computers have a billion parameters that intersect, so how could you ever spend enough time on it to get a decent result.
    • Or, is it a case of what it is like owning an R series Skyline? NFI what the previous owner has done or fiddled with... Ha ha ha After reading through this thread, I went on a bit of a research about the Q50/Q60. Now I'm quite intrigued by them! Is the AWD in them more like a WRX where it's always AWD, or is it more like the ATTESSA in the GTRs? By the sound of this TCU tuning, this sounds like a case of someone has made some real software for it, and you just need the right piece of hardware, and then you license that specific vehicle/TCU. Or is this a case of the software will be really expensive so only a few tuners have it, and you still have to pay a license per vehicle?
    • By popular demand.. it was a coil. Got my hands on 1 new OEM coil, replaced with the one that made the less noise difference when I unplugged it while the car was running and started the car up. No stutter and the engine light was gone. I guess I’ll buy the other 5 they have lol
