Rims too wide (just guessing) - defectable

Atmo-venting BOV - defectable

Carbon fiber bonnet - defectable

Pods - will pass if properly sheilded

Boost Controller - defectable

PowerFC - defectable. Even if you pass emissions on an engineers certificate as the tune is easily changed.

An Engineers Certificate won't make any of your defectable mods less defectable.

all stereotypes are true - they are all based on something - if they wernt based on something there woudlnt be a stereotype

it is a stereotype skylines will have mods

this is because MOST SKYLINES HAVE MODS

therefore the stereotype is correct

its not cops harrasing, yes its rude, yes its annoying, yes we want them to go away

a cop sees a skyline as an easy target cause 9 times out of 10 THEY ARE

Like others have already said, get rid of the BOV, put shield on PODs, remove the hand controller for the PFC & put a metal type bonnet on.

Or you can try & move to WA :(

Cops here (atleast around my area & the areas I usually visit) don't seem to pull over imports that much. The 2.5 years I had my car (2 years where on P) I have only being pulled over 3 times & they were all during the Easter Break (so lesson learnt is don't drive around in a skyline during the Easter Break... LOL). But None of them had bothered to check under the bonnet & they were mainly interested in seeing if I had my rego sticker on...

The other times I have driven alongside cop cars & I don't think they even noticed me.

Hi there...very meaningful response...thanks....

HAhahah......yeah, I will have no choice but to do what you said and many others have said...just don't have the time ffs!

Thanks all.

get rid of the bov.... i guarantee that is what is getting you pinned...

atmo bov's are pure wank.... gtr bov... if you seriously cant live without that atmo bov sound then you should be killed anyway... :(

You keep shooting yourself in the foot and you then you start up threads about how not to shoot your self... :(

Unless you don't pay any attention to what Ash has said about the aftermarket BOV's then keep shooting yourself. :D

You pods already make a "Flutter" noise.

From memory you are allowed 1 intake mod, since you have a GTR now, you pods should be fine as they came with a FMIC stock.

As for the Power FC, from memory I think you can unplug the hand controller and leave it at home.

Or shove it down your pants before the cop sees it :(

Carbon Fibre bonnet will attract attention, either paint the bonnet the same colour or put the stock one back on.

GTR bonnets are aluminium so they are quite light.

Ha ha ha ha...classic...an absolute classic! hahahah...I especially like the SHOVE IT DOWN YOUR PANTS line. However, I see your point mate, that's why I'm going to keep my GTR stock as a freaken rock. I need to clear the defect on the GTS-T so that I can sell the fuucka....thanks mate...

I guess you're right mate...it's the BOV and the POD that's gotten me into shit all these years...I've just ordered a heatshield thing for the pod to hide the fucckka away and will consider a plumb back BOV - do you think all plumb backs will be fine?

Thanks.

plumb back bovs are better than atmo ones in a maf environment...

if your car is tuned for the atmo one then you might want a uick fix up tune

Yeah mate...it was tuned for atmo BOV...I have no choice but to get it fixed as per their requirements.

Fellas, I'm going to give in and give them what they want...and I'm going to keep it this way too as I've had enough...

So I was wondering if someone can please sell me, lend me or rent me the following to I can clear my defect...

- stock plumb back BOV for a GTS-T.

- stock panel-filter air box complete with snorkel etc.

I need one urgently as I got 10 days left to clear the defect before I cannot drive it around no more to get the defect notice cleared.

Thanks. Please help a Skyliner brother in need. :(

Hi there...very meaningful response...thanks....

There was no sarcasm in my post. I have an engineered car so I have some kind've idea that you trying to engineer your car with defectable mods is useless exercise. You can and always will be defected on items that don't comply with or without an engineers certificate.

My goal is 300Kw at all 4 with limited mods to my GTR, and so far with the Mods that have been done no policeman has pulled me over. Plus my GTR is a daily driver at the moment too.

I have spoken to Ray at RE and outlined what I want from the car. I want performance, relibality and for it to look stock. He has even designed an exhaust setup for me that will look stock and be almost as quiet as the stock exhaust front pipes back. So it is possible for it to be done.

Give me 4 months and my GTR will there.

    • Well, I'm tired. I'm tired because about 4PM yesterday, before today's appointment someone immediately bought my bumper. They couldn't get it any other day as they're on the way back to NSW. So I had to do that big GTR conversion I had been planning. Unfortunately, the information on SAU about what you need and how this is done is incomplete. So what should be a simple bolt on affair, yeah, it's not. Did you know if you use all GTR items the bonnet won't close? This little manuever sent me into about 1am the night before trying to dodge a way to get it closed. I will have to revisit this in the next few days  - or maybe not, I may let a body shop figure it out. It all needs to come up and my motivation to pull the bumper off is low. It also seems to hit things in the bay where the GTT bonnet didn't. Yes I used 100% new OEM GTR items. Today, I had the joy of driving to the dyno looking like this: Given I had roughed in the fuel and given sensible but pretty conservative timing, I didn't really bet on having the car drive out any real difference than when it drove in. Sadly due to a miscommunication and laptop fun and games (and almost bricking the dongle, prayers and firmware updates indeed), I ended up using HP Tuner credits to licence the car that was already licenced. So in the end my laptop was used. It turns out my butt dyno is still well calibrated after all this time. The 325kw was on 74% Ethanol, the 313kw line was on 98. The other line is the 'before' line which was 281kw. While the numbers are pretty low, they're pretty in line with what you'd expect. Even if US dynos bump the whole result up about 50KW, gaining 10-15% is similar gains.  The curve of the cam is pretty much spot on with what was discussed as well. All this said, it still feels bad to not see the number you secretly want to see. Even if the car drove great beforehand, and I knew pretty confidently the car would drive out much the same way it drove in due to the nature of a wellish dialled in LS1 not gaining much if anything at all from being tuned from where it was. As expected, the car isn't particularly sensitive to running it at anywhere between 12.0 and 13.0 - And the initial timing at 20deg and 12.0 made 308KW. So 3 degrees of timing, and leaning it out to 12.7 for 5kw, anything above stopped giving any benefit until E85 (which has an additional 2 deg as before). Car itself behaved entirely fine. I found out that 100C = 1.15V! IAT at about 7pm was 19C. I might mess with the bonnet mounting.. but given the REO NEEDS TO BE CHOPPED TO FIT A GTR BAR this is possibly something I may leave gathering (more) dust until it returns to paint jail.
