Hi Guys,

Just spoke to one supplier "OF" Garrett turbos, enquiring about a GT25 "320hp" for the GTR. I asked if we could negotiate a better deal for the SAU members, He said, they would offer us a discount around 10%. They can supply us anyturbo by Garrett, you just need to let me know. I'm not a turbo guru so if anyone noes something I don't please let me know.

To give you an example the:

1. GT25 "320hp" Roller Bearing for the GTR was $1590 (inc Gst) less 10% = $1430 Inc GST

2. He also mention something about the turbo upgrade for a GTR by Garrett which where around $3100each?? Said something about being a direct replacement GT30, when compared to the GT25 was chalk and cheese. Couldthese be the same as gcg upgrade turbo http://www.gcg.com.au/catalogue/Tur...html#gtr_bolton

Any how if the prices are good & anyones interested, I will then set up a Group buy. I was thinking if this all works, & please, only if your serious. Rather than ring & hassle the compnay every minute with prices & specs. I would collate the specs & at the end of the day/week request the prices. Anyway, if anyone else can organise a better deal let me know cause I am after a set for my self.

I am chasing a turbine housing for a HKS GT30 turbo, but I need to know if the garrett turbine housing to suit GT30 will fit a 60mm major with 55mm exducer. Must be GT25 inlet with GT30 outlet too.

I was after a 0.73 AR, which garrett dont do (as its HKS),so I was wondering if you had contact details to I could find out compatibility/price for the garrett items? either that or if you could ask your contact?

Cheers

Steve

You may need to confirm for yourself whether Garrett make/have what your after. As for company details, I don't think they supply direct to public so other co's seling the garret may have an issue with some of the prices. Eg: Ray Halls.

Hi Steve,

I asked him about your request & he said yes they can, it would be around $500.

- also -

They don't make them in a 0.73 AR, he thinks only 0.64, 0.84 & 1~

hope that helps

Yep it does thanks alot.  Interesting that you can get a genuine HKS housing for a similar (or slightly lesser) amount by ordering direct from the US.

When are you planning to go ahead out of interest?

As soon as I can get some numbers <5 or more units, or within the next few weeks.

I am trying to arrange this as a permenant deal for SAU, but at this stage they say they need numbers before it can be permenant.

hey , since im really interested in this group buy , will the GT25 version..

are these the exact same response as the GT2530 by HKS ?? like same everything ? ..

did you read the thread "HKS vs Garrett" ? here's the link http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/sh...ead.php?t=14183

Read it, you'll learnn alot & be very suprised at the results, sometimes you'll pay more just for the name.

Hi,

Whats the biggest garrett turbo that will bolt on to rb25det ?

i'll be in it :D

Hi Cameron,

I wouldn't know, as I said in my original post, I'm not a turbo expert. I've just been able to land a good deal for the forum. I'd suggest to first enquire with turbo specialists, or tuners about your turbo options, then let me know which model you want.

Any more news... how many people do you still need?

I'm still after the GT30.

But after looking at GCG's website...

they have the GT30 down at a price of 2960.00

Any ideas what is going on there???

2.9k is a bit rich... but then, at a price of 1,900 for SAU, that is a FAIR bit more than a 10% discount me thinks.

Please clarify.

thanks,

ash

Is that this one?

http://www.gcg.com.au/catalogue/Turbos%20-..._bearing.html#4

There are a lot of different compressor/turbine wheel and housing combos, there are 9 GT30's on Ray Halls site alone. The GCG one is a 550-600hp one, so you need to find out what parts the $1900 one is made from and what it's rated to.

    • Starter motors used to use the weight of metal (magnets) to provide torque. Now they use (more) current instead. This. It's completely normal.
    • So thing that had me stumped, but I think is OK....is that when it was up in the air, in neutral I had it running to bleed to coolant while I put the wheels back on. I noticed the rears were turning (slowly) which I'd never seen before 20250928_163512.mp4     Because there had been an issue with clutch slip due to pedal adjustment on the dyno, I assumed there was still and issue so spent some quality time upside down under the dash adjusting the pedal....but no matter what I did the wheels still turned in neutral. Even disconnected the master cylinder to pedal rod and same. In despair, I even removed the clutch slave so there was no chance of any preload causing it.....still happened. So either: 1. Something is not right in the bellhousing, or 2. Its a thing sometimes with cold, thick gearbox oil Internet says it might be 2, I hope so!
    • OK, few more things sorted and it is ready for a shakedown on 10-Oct, with one weird thing. Changed the run in oil and filter for the good stuff. 8l came out, about 8.5 went in with filter so that looks all good. Changed the starter (again), this time for a brand new one, works good. Interesting that the Taaaarks one is shorter than factory but spins harder, I guess electronics have moved on a little in the last 30 years. Will be nice to have a bit of extra space under there. Put the timing cover back on, and noted where the cam gears were set as a record.  Will need to double check the timing but it is pretty close. Also put the coil pack cover and intake snorkel back on. Exhaust Inlet Changed the water out for coolant, bled up nicely. Removed the rear brake pads (well worn factory sumitomo ones!), gave the hardware a good clean and reassembled. I've put bendix XP on the back again because the price is excellent at $150 a set and they worked well on the V37. Front pads have plenty so no issue there
    • Mine is all -12, I’m running a dry sump in a billet block though
