Hi Guys,

I thought it about time that we had another cruise down this way for the Western Sydney siders (any anyone else who would like to make the trip:)

As usual, we will begin at KFC carpark in the Cross Roads Home Mega Center on the corners of Beech Rd and Camden Valley Way. We will head down the Hume till Picton Rd then follow that until we hit Princes HWY. Then Illawara Hwy until we hit Maq Pass. For those who havnt done this rd before, it is a windy fun road ending up at a yummy pie shop:)

Meet at 11am Sunday 7th Feb the to cruise at 11.30am sharp

Bring your radios if you have them, makes for bit more of an intersting trip especially on the straight rds:)

Look forward to seeing you there.

Am personally coming down from Merrylands area on the cumberland hwy so am happy to meet anyonw wanting to cruise together to Cross Roads together. would say meet at 10.15 for 10.30am sharp departure at the Maccas on Orange Grove Rd (aka cumberland hwy) Liverpool.

Robertson Pie Shop

4400 Illawarra Hwy, Robertson, NSW 2577

Certainly interested Gemma thanks.

Suggestion?

The convoy pauses at Albion Park West near the new estate roundabout!

Why?

At 11.30am, the traffic will be quite dense!

So?

As the convoy resumes from Albion Pk to the base of the Pass > GO SLOW = VERY SLOW > then you get a good head of steam from the base of the Pass up the hill - or should I say, some of it.

Fun?

There are 180 apexes from the base to the pie shop - but there are only 2X overtaking lanes up the escarpment and the last one is already near the top. But it'll be good fun regardless.

Letting police know that this is a charity run?

Might be helpful?

Pics & Vids?

After the pie shop, some cars can do the loop through Ranelagh House and out again with the shooters at the far end of the archway + drivers turn on their lights! But care needs to be taken over little sharp speed humps on site.

And afterwards?

1) go back down the Pass?

2) go down via Jamberoo Mtn Rd > Swamp Rd? = less traffic

I have to agree with Chris.

Or go with a sure thing, steak and mushroom

Hehe. havnt yet had the cheese bacon but have had the steak and mush. they are great. I must say i do love the plain chicken though. It is yummy

Certainly interested Gemma thanks.

Sounds good to me You offering to lead???, im open for any changes so long as they are documented and better the cruise.

am i good to meet you guys in albion park somewhere? maq pass is like 5 minutes from my house hah, no point in me driving to sydney then back

The idea about all meeting just after the Tullimbah roundabout is a good one; there's a bit of a stretch where we can all collect and make sure noone's left behind. Then you just rolllll on out... get some gaps happening, then the pass is much more fun :3

Gemma, I may be meeting you all just past the Tullimbah roundabout as well since I may be staying down at Sussex Inlet on the 6th (after a corporate body meeting there).

I may end up waiting there with 'cpd' for you all.

The reason why we would take-off slowly from the roundabout is to create more space between the convoy and any other cars already going up the pass.

One just has to be a bit careful of any trucks coming down the pass and negotiating a left-hand hairpin.

If I do rock up, I'll be happy to do a vid of the cars going up the pass at the left-hand hairpin at the large rockface just before the 2nd Overtaking Lane section &/OR thru the Ranelagh House Archway.

Cheers, Terry

    • They are under bucket shims. Tomei provides a test shim kit and then any measurement of shim required.
    • I always wondered how you were supposed to buy a set of 24 buckets and somehow magically have every single one of them yield exactly the desired clearance. I would have thought you'd need to assemble a cam with either 12 "sample" or "example" buckets of known top thickness (or a single such sample/example 12 times over!!) measure clearances at every valve, and then do the usual math to work out what the actual "shimness" of each bucket needed to be, before buying the required buckets to make up he thicknesses that you didn't have on hand.
    • I now seem to be limited in power due to my rev limit/hydraulic lifters in my built RB25. I'm looking into converting over to Tomei solid lifters. Question for anyone that has done the conversion. I was always under the impression that when using the Tomei solid lifter conversion, you would also require new valves (Longer or shorter stems, I can't remember which).  I don't know where I got this idea, as so far I see no mention of this in any of the Tomei documentation. It just states I need the Tomei solid buckets, solid lifter cams and upgraded springs. As my head is already built, all I would need is another set of 1000$ Kelford cams, 500$ buckets and about 4H hours of my time installing and I'm off to the races!?!? There's no way it's that simple, I must be missing something?
