GTR rear strutbar & bootfloor stiffening plate install?

Hi guys,

I've just got my hands on R33 Skyline GT-R rear strutbar and bootfloor stiffening plate that goes onto the boot floor. I was told by the supplier that this can

be installed in my R33 GTS-T.

The thing is, it's HUGE. I kind of wonder if I have to move my battery and

other stuffs before I can put it in, so I'm wondering if anyone with a R33 GT-R

or another GTS-t with GT-R rear brace can you please take a pic of ur boot

and show me how it looks like? I'm interested in seeing how the stiffening plate

relates to the position of the battery and HICAS controller.

Just to make it clear, here's how it looks sitting in my living room uninstalled...

(Ignore the subwoofers - they're not mine - enquiries about those subs will not be answered)

Akeenan, is yours a GT-R or a gTS-t fitted with one...?

From the orientation of the strut bar end bolts, comparing it with my picture,

means that the stiffening plate should be installed vertically... am I correct?

Would be nice if the picture shows the plate installed (removing trim), but

please don't bother if that's too fiddly/troublesome for anyone to remove their

boot trim.

ok here are some pics for you rs73... although it appears mine is slighty different to yours. I dont have the bootfloor stiffening plate. However if your going to fit that aswell you will have to completely take everything out from behind the bach seat, all the computers the battery etc etc...

anyways here are my pics....

From that picture it looks like that the mounting plate on yours is a little bit different to mine. I saw the two holes for the bolt that attach to the suspension tower, but yours is missing the point where it will attach to the stiffening plate on my set...

I figured out how the stiffening plate is gonna be sitting in the car, it sits vertically below that strutbar, and covering the battery halfway. Could be a bitch to get off when someday I have to replace my battery.

Need to move my amp that is sitting beside that battery somewhere too... ;)

No walkoau, it's not against the seat.

the plate sits vertically against the rising boot wall where the battery sits, facing towards us.

I'd imagine installing it is not a pain, but getting to the battery after it is on will be a pain later.

ok i know what ur talking about,sounds good but imagine if one of the main fuses (behind the seat) blow or the battery fails. u would have to take the whole bracing plate out to get to them. would it really be worth putting this thing in?

is there anyone here that has installed this into their ride and felt a noticable improvment?

I ended up installing just the brace, but not the stiffening plate. Reason is I don't want the hassle when it's time to access the battery, plus my amp is installed beside that battery space.

Anyone want this can grab it off me for $50, otherwise in a couple of days it'll just be sent away as scrap metal. See pic of the plate above (in my 2nd post on this thread).

Stuff like this is never supposed to be touched, if it does the transfer case can lock up solid and never bleed properly.     • Hey guys just wondering if I can get some clarification on this refrigerant pressure sensor wiring. I bought a 3 pin pigtail to wire in a refrigerant pressure sensor and I just want to make sure I'm reading the schematic and connecting it properly. My ECU doesn't have anything in pin 57 so I put a pin in and ran it to the WHITE wire on the pigtail. Then pin 48 to the BLUE wire and connected the GREEN wire to ground. After doing this I went for a drive and my CEL came on. The car also had jumpy acceleration. Since pin 48 is also the power source for the throttle position sensor I'm wondering if I messed up or reversed the wiring somehow. Any help is appreciated, thanks!

    • Gday gents, been having a issue for a little while now and have come for some advice. car is a r34 gt-four (awd na sedan), when taking tight corners such as car parks and roundabouts feels as if the diff is locked on both ends, have literally snapped 3 shafts and issues doing my head in. Car has 60k klm so mechanical failure in the diff is unlikely but possible, been to 2 very reputable shops near where I live and both have had no luck. What would be my process of trying to find the cause? not too interested in pulling apart transfer cases just to find nothing, have these cars come out with electronic BS that might cause this? not too mechanically inclined so any information will probably be passed on an expert thanks in advance
