Skylines aren't the easiest cars to get rid of, especially around here, so yes Birds I am living beyond my means, but selling my car for a huge loss is the easy way out. I like to think of the fact that it's sitting there as an incentive to find a job so that I can spend money on it again!

Everyone's got good points, even Sami, but like someone said sometimes good views aren't conveyed properly.

You don't know what people are going through these days, if they are living off centrelink then so be it. I'm sure they would seek other options if given the opportunity. In the case of the single parent with 3 kids, how often have we heard of the father running off leaving everything to the mum? If only you had her problems, the last thing you would worry about is a car giving off a bit of smoke. Repair bills are incredibly daunting these days because people need to make a buck right?

Like I said earlier let the authorities take care of situations like these and move on, you have no business in taking the matters into your hands if you do not have the authority or responsibilities.

Anyway, I hardly see situations described like this, I see a lot of trucks though puffing black smoke, anyone have problems with that?

A few months ago, I drove to a park near home with my dog and young son, for a walk/play/whatever. There is a large gravel shoulder going into the park and it's the only place to park.

As I was walking back to my car (R32 gtst), I saw this shitty old Ford ute (XB,XC ??) pull in and do a big gravel burnout, showering dust, stones and gravel all over my car.

I was f**king spewing. I saw him take off and quickly do a right then a left turn. I hopped into the car and said to my son, I bet this silly f**k lives around here.

Sure enough, I found him in about 45 seconds, took his number and went home and rang the cops. They were very keen to follow up. They asked me if they seized the car, would I be prepared to make a statement. I said bloody oath. They said most people are too scared to follow up on hoon reports and the cops can't do anything unless the witness is prepared to make a statement.

They went around to this dickheads place and he admitted that he'd done it. He told the cops that he didn't notice another car or any people there.

They seized his shitbox (registered to his Mum) and fined him.

Suck eggs you dumb f**k. I told the cops to make sure they tell him that if he hadn't showered my car in crap I probably wouldn't have done anything.

Mind you, bashing the stupid prick would have been more satisfying than ringing cops but I'm getting too old for that sort of workout.

Should have bought an aus r31 ;)

cheaper, faster and wouldnt have been clapped out

LOL and would have cost me 3 x the fuel, and back then cost more than $700 which is what I paid for it. To this day smoke issue aside its been my most reliable car...EVER. :merli: No way was it 10 seconds of smoke...thats really a very very long time.

As for living above means tell that to my parents and their parents..life was constantly a struggle back then. Imagine if everyone had that view...not everyone is on easy street for whatever reason. But to say others can or cannot do things based on other peoples standards or situations, that's really not anyone's right. And in all honesty I'm glad for that.

Is it right to judge others on what they may or may not have?

Glad to hear your in a nice situation Ash, how many children do you have? Throw a few into the equation, plus house, bills, cars, insurances etc and then maybe re calculate. ;) Think cars are expensive....

I was tempted to report the Excel that pissed out smoke and the Red P Plater that was too busy texting to move off on a green light but I forgot the number plates by the time I got home.

That's normally my problem but if i ever did dob someone in i would feel like a hypocrite since i tend to have a heavy foot at times or sometimes give a squeak at the lights (due to still learning how to drive a manual with a heavy clutch)

Here's an easy one, would you report someone you know?

Yep. Really depends on the crime but my family has done that before to other family members and it has worked out for the best believe it or not, particularly with anonymity involved. But really, as a friend you can start with telling them to fix the problem / stop doing it and if they're a good friend they'll listen to you. Then if they don't listen maybe report? We should be encouraging friends and family to do the right thing...world would be a much better place. Like I said there's no such thing as a "rat" if you don't do bad in the first place...

So on the topic of not being able to afford things because of your children...I'm in total agreement with Ash on this. Why do people feel it's their God given right to birth children into the world? Just because you CAN doesn't mean you SHOULD. Fark I could rent a Las Vegas penthouse for a night...I'd love to do that and it'd make me very happy in the short term...but it's not the best financial decision I could make given my bank account would deplenish very bloody quickly. I would also like to have children one day, but I'm not even considering it until such a date where I've saved up a considerable nest egg and have a fully owned residence with which to raise and support them. I'd also want to have been with the bearer of my children for some time to reduce the chance of divorce at a young age.

Now look at it this way: a 13 year old boy can impregnate a 12 year old girl (can and does happen)...so should they do this just because they can? Would they be in a fit situation to provide for their children and have the right time on their hands to raise them properly? Modern society isn't the place for children born into poverty or from teenage pregnancy...25 is the new 18 in terms of life advancement. Society reflects this with children living at home longer and tertiary education or several years experience working in the industry being the basic requirement of a decent career. There's more emphasis on the career woman than ever before and day care centres are fuller than ever before because of this. For the same reason you wouldn't birth a child from HIV infected parents, you should not burden your children with a childhood of money woes and disadvantage them when it comes to making something of that life.

Kids? Me? You gotta be joking me :D

No chance i'll be having any for a long time yet! Couldn't afford them if i tried.

Dont take money to raise kids bud, just the right attitude :P

Oh and a woman is handy too....

Bozodos I dont do this for every dole bludger but your special, so I'll give you a buck to wash my windscreen

I read this hole thread and that all i got......good value thread but..........

    • Ps i found the below forum and it seems to be the same scenario Im dealing with. Going to check my ECU coolant temp wire tomorrow    From NICOclub forum: s1 RB25det flooding at start up Thu Apr 11, 2013 7:23 am I am completely lost on this. Car ran perfectly fine when I parked it at the end of the year. I took the engine out and painted the engine bay, and put a fuel cell with an inline walbro 255 instead of the in tank unit I had last year. After reinstalling everything, the engine floods when the fuel pump primes. if i pull the fuel pump fuse it'll start, and as soon as I put the fuse back in it starts running ridiculously rich. I checked the tps voltage, and its fine. Cleaned the maf as it had some dust from sitting on a shelf all winter, fuel pressure is correct while running, but wont fire until there is less than 5psi in the lines. The fuel lines are run correctly. I have found a few threads with the same problem but no actual explanation of what fixed it, the threads just ended. Any help would be appreciated. I found the problem though. There was a break in one of the ecu coolant temp sensor wires. Once it was repaired it fired right up with no problems. I would have never thought a non working coolant temp sensor would have caused such an issue.
    • Hi sorry late reply I didnt get a chance to take any pics (my mechanics on the other side of the city) but the plugs were fouled from being too rich. I noticed the MAF wasn't genuine, so I replaced it with a genuine green label unit. I also swapped in a different ignitor, but the issue remains. I've narrowed it down a bit now: - If I unplug and reconnect the fuel lines and install fresh spark plugs, the car starts right up and runs perfectly. Took it around the block with no issues - As soon as I shut it off and try to restart, it won't start again - Fuel pressure while cranking is steady around 40 psi, injectors have good spray, return line is clear, and the FPR vacuum is working. It just seems like it's getting flooded after the first start I unplugged coolant sensors to see if its related to ECU flooding but that didnt make a difference. Im thinking its related to this because this issue only started happening after fixing coolant leaks and replacing the bottom part of the stock manifolds coolant pipe. My mechanic took off the inlet to get to get to do these repairs. My mechanics actually just an old mate who's retired now so ill be taking it to a different mechanic who i know has exp with RBs to see if they find anything. If you have any ideas please send em lll give it a try. Ive tried other things like swapping the injectors, fuel rail, different fuel pressure regs, different ignitor, spark plugs, comp test and MAF but the same issue persists.
