hi all,

ok so i need rear discs 4 the 30, (290mm)

i have heard u can use 300zx as they are similar, but the hat height is differnt so need to space out caliper? which i dont want to do,

my question(s) has ne 1 tried to use a s13 rear brake setup. i no the calipers + pads are same, wondering if braket and disc wouuld mount up ?

or i was thinkin i could use aussie spec caliper brakets and discs? ne 1 done this ?

the oz rear disk setup which includes the trailing arm (has the hubs &brackets all on it)gets pinched for the datto 1600/180b crew so i guess its possible to put it in what you have... but do you already have rear disks? i confused!

i do have one here, but im hopeing to keep it for future adjustable setup

im more than happy to get measurements and pics for you

I was under the impression only the (MR30 - OZ) 'hatch' had the disc rear end ?, I know the one I have has it, but for the others I don't know for sure

What's wrong with a spacer? Your talking about a 5mm spacer washer as opposed to a conversion, or using smaller diameter rotors off the Oz delivered car?????????

That would be insane IMHO.

Cheers, D

yea on a r31 rears vn-vs calipers fit. same spacing etc and just use commo pads.

just remembered that im runnin brackets that the calipers mount on cos was old r180 drum rear which i converted to disk. so have to double check the caliper bolt spacing on stock r30 rear disk brake calipers. if that makes any sense.. oh and with commodore calipers u cant use ur handbrake cos their drum. so either r31 calipers or just r30's (280zx?)

    • I can see between the water jacket and cyl 3 there wasn't a hard line of combustion gas. It certainly appears that the issue is coming from there. Yes, checked the tension. All at 100ft lbs where I set them 5 years ago. These blocks can crack but generally when they have been over bored. Mine is only 0.5mm oversize at 89.5mm. They break between cylinders around the 91mm mark. No sign of that with mine. My gut feeling is the head gasket lifted a while back when the studs stretched and i bandaided it by retorquing the studs. It's finally let go.

    • So, version 4 intake is on its way I was looking at these a while ago but at around $200 or more it was a little pricey for something that might not work, but, I had it in my watch list, but, I got a message saying it was on special, and I had a code thingie to use, it eventually came in at $120 delivered, so BAM, BUY NOW.....LOL I'll need to have a look when it arrives but I feel it will "look" better than what I currently have, as it comes with a PCV fitting, so I will be able to get rid of the alloy pipe that goes to the throttle body with the PCV fitting  Well, that's what the voices in my head are telling me  Oh, and this happened today Yeap, it was a Trojan, and it was cheap, so I headed back to the hardware store and actually spent a little bit more on a heavy duty,  one that was actually recommended by a plumber mate, a Cyclone one with a fibreglass handle that is actually rated for clay The broken shovel will eventually be "modified" into a short handle shovel
