Ezy03
Hi there boys n girls, well I wanted to see if anyone knew anything about the following .. My coupe has blemishes on the stock tints on all windows including mirrors. There sorta oil marks that I can't get rid of, anyways I'm wanting to tint all windows and mirrors and smoke the tail lights and head lights and I'm certain I can source the window tints and smoked light films (excluding the side mirrors) anyways I have a few questions for those who have done this before or have any idea about it, 1- does anyone know who would retint my car for a good price? 2- would it be cheaper to sort out my own tints and just pay for the labour if putting them on? 3- can anyone give me a rough estimate on how much it would cost to scrape off the current stock tints and put on new ones let's say new ones at 20% Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/306216-window-tinting-smoked-head-and-taillights/ Share on other sites
Chris Rogers
I would SERIOUSLY rethink your approach here. the car may look like crap but I dare say its a tad more legal than it would be if yo did this. that said yellow pages is your friend. Ezy03
you mean the 20% instead of the legal lowest limit of 35%? Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/306216-window-tinting-smoked-head-and-taillights/#findComment-5063334 Share on other sites
daisu
I think he means the smoking/tinting of the head and tail lights... when you think about it, it's a pretty silly idea. Also, there is no need to tint your mirrors. No one is looking into your mirrors except you, and it's going to be hard enough to see them through the 20% tinting on your windows. turbosuk
35% is the legal tint i have the dark windows on the back and just tinted the front with 35% and thats plenty dark enough also i have the tinted tail lights and head lights i got the film from ebay in the us Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/306216-window-tinting-smoked-head-and-taillights/#findComment-5063515 Share on other sites
Cruzen
If you want the best quality Window Film , You cannot go past the film Tint A Car use. They use Window film from the USA which is much better than the Chinese film the Tint professor uses unless the professor runs out of film and gets some through Tint A Car. Ezy03
Ah sorry guys I didn't make my self clear , the side mirrors I don't want to tint them but they have this oily bubble look in them I'm not sure if there is some sort of screening there that can be taken off and replaced. As for the tints I might have to check out in person how the %'s look like in real life , as for the head and tail lights I just want to "smoke" them cuz I just simply like the look of it. V35_Paul
I did mine. Looked Cool. Couldn't see at night at all. The tint increased the temp inside the headlight and reduced the life of the plastic lens whiched caused stress fractures. It took about 10/15 mins each one. I have taken them off now. I'll take a pic and post it of the lights now if you want. scathing
Someone posted up on another subforum on here about a film that makes the light enclosure darker during the day, but doesn't obscure the colour too much at night. It can either tint, or change the colour. It might be worth checking out. scathing
http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/Ti...ts-t252545.html Bingo I'll probably end up doing it on the Z, since I've gone for a "black contrast" theme on my car. ther
Those "oil marks" are actually acid rain which usually happend if the car was at the docks waiting for transport for a period of time . Which is what my car had before i got it detailed. The detailer scrubbed all my windows and its all gone now but he managed to crack my bumper in the process.. but thats another story. What you need to to is get those blotches out and it will take A LOT of elbow grease....
