It was awesome to see Webber's race last night. It's really good to see him out pace his team mate buy so much and the rest of the field by even more, especially on a drivers track. Let's just hope he can carry the momentum on for the rest of the season.

true - was good to see a webber win - just hope that he stops being an epic whinger - maybe if he wins a championship? :)

oh, i really hope krishy didn;t put money on ferarri XD esp after that quali for alonso, would have given him driver of the day if it wernt for letting schui pass him on the last lap!!

good to see kubica up there, i recon he'll also be one to watch in the future!

hopefuly mark is doing enough to stay in an RBR seat for next year as well! (REALLY dont want massa taking his seat!)

ahh, yes and congrats to mark, seems like when he has a clear track he'll drive away from everyone!! (tho when he gets stuck behind someone he cant overtake)

I'll have to check it out. TAB or online?

TAB or ONLINE???? It really doesnt matter....TAB has a site that shows all the odds etc....i prefer to go down to the pub to put a bet on as at the same time have a nice coldy

Unfortunate but i did have money on Alonso to win.....that was mid week prior to qualifying or practise.....he showed some good pace in the practise sessions but unfortunately had a chasis damage which ruled him out of qualifying hence he started from the pits.....but what a drive though from the pits to finish in the points :)

wow there are talks of Massa leaving Ferrari at the end of this season....also there are reports that Ferrari are interested in Mark Webber and Robert Kubica.....i would really like to see Kubica go to Ferrari but Webber is a possibility too as his contract runs out at the end of the season and so does Massa's.....sure will be sad to see Massa go as he was working well with Ferrari......its been a long time since Ferrari didnt have a Brazillian National behind the wheel of one of their cars

I am also tipping that Alonso will win the coming race this weekend

Webber going to Ferrari could be the biggest mistake of his career. RBR are on the rise, they could be the team to beat for the next few years. Ferrari, on the other hand, haven't looked that competitive. These things can change dramatically from year to year, but if I were Webber I'd stay with RBR for the rest of my career.

I, obviously, am not Mark Webber. But if I were that's what I'd do :-)

Nice little disclaimer there....i think if Webber moves from RBR to Ferrari it will purely be for the financial reason and nothing else....it will be interesting to see at least Ferrari are doing a lot better then last season anyhow.....and you never know the big teams can throw a lot of money trying to get these things absolutely right....so Ferrari just might be on the top of the table next season

Id like to see webber sign a 1yr extension to RBR.

I think he is a real chance for the drivers world championship this year and perhaps next.

After that (the glory) take the top $ drive.........

I do think Webber, Vettel and Alonso have a decent shot at the world title this year....even with the average performance so far Alonso is only 3 points behind the leaders Webber and Vettel....and the next few rounds i do think that Ferrari have a decent shot at winning a few races as well.....i wont be ruling out Massa as well....Alonso would have won the last GP at Monaco if he participated in qualifying....Alonso started in the pits to finish in the top was a very very solid effort.....IMHO he was the driver of the day.....I think in the last 6 0r 7 world titles the winner of the first GP has gone on to win the title...so i am backing Alonso as he won the first GP of the season....plus he is paying decent odds as well :)

omg what an eventful race....

And that it was. How was Vettel when he made contact with Webber, what an idiot. Webber was lucky to still be in the race, but to hold on to 3rd place was good. Also watching the two Mclarens edge close to eachother on a number of occasions was breathtaking.

The Vettel incident has probably made Webbers championship hopes alot better know as Vettel was the main challenger and is know sitting in 4th I think?

Why you wouldn't allow your team mate who's clearly faster than you some room has got me farked! Especially since the 2 McLarens were catching so fast.... It's easy to lay all blame on Vettel for that incident, but imo Webber wasn't faultless in it either.

It was good to see that the teams are letting their drivers fight it out on the track for once and not giving team orders.....also in saying that the McLaren drivers used their head wisely and 5 laps to go they both backed off as they were really low on fuel

I am still saying dont rule out Alonso....that man has the ability to come out of no where and start winning races....It was very very bad on Webbers behalf to try and squeeze his own team mate off the track....when clearly Vettel was way faster then him....showing a bit of arrogance me thinks.....

All Webber needed to do was move a little bit to the left and give some racing room to his faster team mate....i guess Webber doesnt want to be shown up by his team mate.....very very bad mistake by the drivers that could cost Red Bull the constructors Championship......people were blaming Vettel when that incident happened but when you see the replay Webber is not in the clear either

If you watch the replay Webber was 0% at fault. Vettel definetley had the pace for the over take but seems he hit the dirt when trying to move past and his car then got a bit out of balance and he veered into the side of Webbers car. If anything there was no room there in the first place for the over take, if Webber was at fault then Vettel wouldn't have apologised to all the redbull pit crew etc..

YOUTUBE REPLAY:

http://en.espnf1.com/redbull/motorsport/story/18943.html

dont think vettel appologised to the team for his mistake...as it wasnt his mistake.....he would have apologised in the regards that whatever happened caused the team to end up with a bad result knowing their position prior to the incident.....goes to show the dirty side of webber i guess

Vettel was clearly at fault and was a twat in the first place for attempting such a move. Webber moved over and then held his line, Vettel had the speed to get just ahead but appeared to lose control for a fraction and turned into Webber's car. In the end it cost Vettel more than anyone else expect for Reb Bull Racing.

So Webber is a dirty driver because Vettel tried to overtake where there was no space and had a tyre of the track causing him to loose balance? Hmmmm.....

Going to have to agree to disagree on this one Krishy!

looking back at that youtube clip i cannot see Vettel dropping a tyre off the track....once vettel got infront of Webber he moved to the right to get a better line into the corner and expected webber to move as well...which didnt happen

    • I myself AM TOTALLY UNPREPARED TO BELIEVE that the load is higher on the track than on the dyno. If it is not happening on the dyno, I cannot see it happening on the track. The difference you are seeing is because it is hot on the track, and I am pretty sure your tuner is not belting the crap out of it on teh dyno when it starts to get hot. The only way that being hot on the track can lead to real ping, that I can think of, is if you are getting more oil (from mist in the inlet tract, or going up past the oil control rings) reducing the effective octane rating of the fuel and causing ping that way. Yeah, nah. Look at this graph which I will helpfully show you zoomed back in. As an engineer, I look at the difference in viscocity at (in your case, 125°C) and say "they're all the same number". Even though those lines are not completely collapsed down onto each other, the oil grades you are talking about (40, 50 and 60) are teh top three lines (150, 220 and 320) and as far as I am concerned, there is not enough difference between them at that temperature to be meaningful. The viscosity of 60 at 125°C is teh same as 40 at 100°C. You should not operate it under high load at high temperature. That is purely because the only way they can achieve their emissions numbers is with thin-arse oil in it, so they have to tell you to put thin oil in it for the street. They know that no-one can drive the car & engine hard enough on the street to reach the operating regime that demands the actual correct oil that the engine needs on the track. And so they tell you to put that oil in for the track. Find a way to get more air into it, or, more likely, out of it. Or add a water spray for when it's hot. Or something.   As to the leak --- a small leak that cannot cause near catastrophic volume loss in a few seconds cannot cause a low pressure condition in the engine. If the leak is large enough to drop oil pressure, then you will only get one or two shots at it before the sump is drained.
    • So..... it's going to be a heater hose or other coolant hose at the rear of the head/plenum. Or it's going to be one of the welch plugs on the back of the motor, which is a motor out thing to fix.
    • The oil pressure sensor for logging, does it happen to be the one that was slowly breaking out of the oil block? If it is,I would be ignoring your logs. You had a leak at the sensor which would mean it can't read accurately. It's a small hole at the sensor, and you had a small hole just before it, meaning you could have lost significant pressure reading.   As for brakes, if it's just fluid getting old, you won't necessarily end up with air sitting in the line. Bleed a shit tonne of fluid through so you effectively replace it and go again. Oh and, pay close attention to the pressure gauge while on track!
    • I don't know it is due to that. It could just be due to load on track being more than a dyno. But it would be nice to rule it out. We're talking a fraction of a second of pulling ~1 degree of timing. So it's not a lot, but I'd rather it be 0... Thicker oil isn't really a "bandaid" if it's oil that is going to run at 125C, is it? It will be thicker at 100 and thus at 125, where the 40 weight may not be as thick as one may like for that use. I already have a big pump that has been ported. They (They in this instance being the guy that built my heads) port them so they flow more at lower RPM but have a bypass spring that I believe is ~70psi. I have seen 70psi of oil pressure up top in the past, before I knew I had this leak. I have a 25 row oil cooler that takes up all the space in the driver side guard. It is interesting that GM themselves recommend 0-30 oil for their Vette applications. Unless you take it to the track where the official word is to put 20-50w oil in there, then take that back out after your track day is done and return to 0-30.
    • Nice, looks great. Nice work getting the factory parts also. Never know when you'll need them.
