Ok so ive owned my 32 GTR for the past 4 and a bit years and for as long as i can remember the front right hand side has always sat approx 25mm lower than the left.

So basically i assumed this was due to the old original coilovers.

A few days ago i installed a new set of Tein Super Streets, finished setting up the ride height and things were looking good.

So i took it for quick spin around the block to let things settle, only to notice the front right was sitting ~10mm lower than the left again.

Back to the hoist it went to adjust the height on the right side only to have the same results after taking the car for a drive (did this 3 times changing the height)

As far as my amateur skills can tell nothing under the car is bent or damaged,

So im just wondering if anyone has experienced this or might have any ideas on what might be causing it.

Also wondering if someone knows a place in SA that i could possibly take the car to have this checked out.

Cheers.

Try it with the front sway bar disconnected.

These have an adjustable spring platform, which is designed for getting the corner weights of the chassis evened out. You need to get the car corner weighted, not just set up with a particular ride height.

Would getting new sway bars fitted help this problem / process ?
It might. The reason I suggested to disconnect the bar is that there might be some pre-load on the bar causing weight to be transferred to the opposite side of the car. Probably best to disconnect both bars, F & R.

qte These [the Teins] have an adjustable spring platform uqte

Cheers for the advice, ill give it a go sometime this week and see how it goes.

If all else fails ring, light wheel alignment, byron place Adelaide 082121448 these guys have helped me out with all my cars over the years when it comes to suspension , the best in Australia .

Measuring from the lip of the guard to the centre of the wheel, and even measuring from the ground to the lip of the gaurd givs the same results of ~10mm lower.

As for tire pressure i only just had new ones put on before i installed the suspension and also had a wheel alignment after the suspension was done.

hey Rob,

i got the same issue with my GTR, same Tien Super Streets.

i just try to get it as close as i can to all even.

but then i called a suspension place and they told me that even if the corners vary 10mm it doesnt really make much of a difference to the daily driving of the car.

even stock suspension shows up these differences in height.

if the handling is rubbish then do something about it.

but coilovers are more toruble than they're worth, if you spend more time jacking the car up and changing the ride height than driving it you're wasting your time.

you can come round and check mine out next time you're over.

BTW

i just got my Nistune, injectors and pump. pushing out 285rwkw @17psi on a 37 degree day!!

its really fast now!!

I have brand new Oz spec Tein SS in my 32R and mine are even all round, installed by Centreline. I don't think they 10mm difference between sides is acceptable, front to rear is fine but not side to side, you want front corners the same and rear corners the same unless you are racing a track with only right or left hand corners.

Take it to a suspension place that know what they're doing and they should be able to fix the issue.

Cheers for the feedback guys, still havnt had time to take it somewhere.

As for now the car is sitting level the front right is just threaded up about 10mm more than the left.

When i get the time ill take it to someone and get them to check it out.

    • Ah! I actually managed to snag a lightly used set.... that aren't so suitable for me right now. They don't work on a GTT without some cutting or creative heat moulding. I thought about reselling them myself cause I didn't want to murder them, but it looks like I'm probably going to attempt to murder them/melt them because I may as well. @GTSBoy @PranK can somebody close this thread?
    • Hey mate,  I have a set, one is slightly damaged but wont be noticable once installed.  Shoot me a message if your still after them
    • I couldn't wait But, the black constant tension hose clamps were too thick and there wasn't enough clearance at the T/B and I couldn't get it to seat properly, so I had use a silver one there I also added some 3" silicone over the alloy bit that goes through to hole on the radiator support as it looked like it was sitting on the edge of the hole in the radiator support, I never noticed a rattle or anything, but there was a witness mark It is basicly done, and I can live with the silver hose clamp at the T/B, I will get a black clamp for the head vent though where it is attached to the bulkhead fitting  It never stops...LOL, only issue now with the shock tower brace is it slightly touches the under bonnet liner now, if I leave it it will either wear some paint off the brace where it touches, or damage the liner, so I removed the liner to see what I have to work with, with the liner removed I have about 20mm of clearance, but sadly the middle part of the underside of the bonnet is only dusted with paint and looks crap, so I cannot have that, but.... as I have a roll of Carbuilders premium under bonnet insulation in the garage laying around that is only 5.5mm thick (we were going to use it on the boys Patrol, but he crashed the front of it a few months and it was written off, hence why he now drives my old Honda Accord Euro), I'll use the OEM liner as a template and get the Carbuilders stuff fitted up to cover that dusted paint up
    • You have a knack for photography my friend. It makes the 86 look like a complete bucket. The 34 went with you to Europe and back. It's special. (we all feel the same about our 'shitboxes' that every bystander seems to absolutely love)
