Good news for the gamers in SA. They'll be getting the R18+ rating regardless of what the other states choose at the next voting, which will be held in July.

The plan is to completely eliminate the MA15+ category thus clearly widening the gap between adult and child games.

This means that all current MA15+ games will become R18+, which shouldn't bother most of us. This will also allow parents to clearly know whether or not games their kids play are actually ok for them to play.

And most importantly, as stated by Rau, games currently banned due to the highest rating being only MA15+, will make their way on to shelves.

This is how it should have been from the start.

Australian Catholic Bishops "welcome" proposed guidelines for adult rating for video games; Australian Christian Lobby describes changes as "frightening."

Who would have thought??

The Australian Catholic Bishops actually welcome an R18 classification; unlike the Australian Christian Lobby, who are completely against it.

R18+ petition

This is from the game informer. Brendan O'Connor the federal attorney-general to ammend the MA15+ and allow an R18+ to be introduced.. And the dodgy games to still be RC..

His guidelines can be found at this link http://www.kotaku.co...r18-guidelines/

Sign Up.. Ends June 22 and Brendan will present his proposal & the survey results at the July SCAG meeting

EDIT: Link to classification website with all links avail. Classification Link

I ticked the second option, "Accept R18+ but disagree with the proposed guidelines"

My added comment was as follows.

"Violence is permitted except where it offends against the standards of morality, decency and propriety generally accepted by "reasonable adults" to the extent that it should not be classified."

The use of "reasonable" is too broad a word - some people may consider a scenario or action as acceptable whilst others may not; comparing this to their own lifestyle and experiences. I, as an adult, will accept any forms of videogame violence due to the fact that it is, a video game. An adult is defined as someone who takes responsibility for their own actions meaning that any sane person will NEVER immitate the immoral and indecent actions performed in a video-game. If they do, then they are incapable as adults and should seek professional help.

I am happy to discuss this further, if required.

Cheers, Elias

The NSW Attorney-General's department says it will not vote on the introduction of an adult classification for video games at this week's SCAG meeting.

This Friday was supposed to be another meeting where attorney generals would be actually voting for the introduction of an R18+ rating.

Turns out the NSW AG will not be voting on the subject - further delaying any conclusion. Unfortunately it must be a unanimous decision.

At the end of the day, it's the aussie retailers who suffer. Majority of gamers are over 18 and I prefer to get the original version of a game - therefore importing is my way.

MK for example - would have made a killing here. (no pun intended)

Forget the whole "moral" aspect of "Kids shouldn't be allowed to play games with these features" because that's a load of bull. If a kid mimics chopping someone up with a machete, or if some teenager decides to go for a real-life GTA, then they obviously have some in-depth mental problems.

Sure, it's the same argument as always - but after completing a number of petitions and forms, it has just gotten to the point where it's become ridiculous.

i dont get how LA noire can be rated ma15+, theres dead naked chicks everywhere, vag and all, its f**ked up.

I bet you sit there fondling the skin, don't you...

This shouldn't be an issue that requires unanimous support. The only problem of that is; where do you draw the line? NSW has the largest population, so do you do it per capita/how many people they represent? or just 60% of the vote from 7 states (so 4 people voting FOR it)?

BAH

who cares, i'll just import the f**king thing if i can't get it here. only one it hurts is the retailers.

Banning is a license to import, not download without paying. If you really wanna support the people who make the games, buy it, even if it's for a lot cheaper from ozgameshop. Sales = more games get made.

But true; shouldn't be an AG job, should be parliament in general. Just gotta shut the ACL up from the BAWWWWW THE CHILDRENS vote.

On this note, who should be deciding on censorship and classification for video games? The people who actually play them, or the entire population...of which game players are a minority? I think there lies a problem in getting people who don't even play games, to consider whether something is suitable or not for a game's content and in line with societal trends. Then there's the case of people in jobs having to prove that they are doing a job to keep their job...so naturally they are going to filter out something to show they are doing something to protect people.

What I don't understand, is why they can slap a ban or a rating on a video game...but retailers are allowed to sell a low cut top / miniskirt and even lingerie to kids...priorities?

Aussie R18+ decision due today

"Australia's censorship ministers have gathered today in Adelaide as part of the Standing Committee of Attorneys-General regular meeting. On the agenda this morning is a topic close to many gamer's hearts--the introduction of an R18+ rating for video games. After almost 10 years on the agenda, will today be the day Australia's various state, territory, and federal governments finally agree on the introduction of an adult rating for games down under? Or will there be more delays?"

Following past trend, more delays will be the result after today's meeting...

    • Don't even try to run it on the stock ECU if you're going to have the boost controller bring boost above ~10 psi. I've already told you that. If you use the Nistune ECU, you will need to CAREFULLY read the available documentation for Neo tuning, and read some threads on the Nistune forums, to discover the various things you have to do to prevent the ECU from going bananas when the boost is too high. The is a table associated with th boost sensor that must be modified to prevent it from shitting the bed. This is just one of the things that you will need to do to the tune in Nistune, because the Neo turbo ECU will be expecting to see a number of things (such as the TCS) that are not there, and you have to block the DTCs on those. It is totally not surprising to me that you are having the problems that you are, but the solutions to these problems have been known for >15 years. So just get it done.
    • Hi. Sry iam not a mechanic and iam not at the car atm so i dont know 100% but they told they measure those and even try to change those. AFM they have two. Coils are new a they have my old one too. Plugs too. ECU...we have 25 NEO stock and Nistune 25 NEO.   But i dont know if any one those could be the problem and why/if/what can cause this, Only thing they did not check is fuel...but that walbro 255 is new(like 1,5 years)... That fuel pressure gauge idk...but i let them know Any suggestions?   EDIT: how can they know if it is like you say he ECU pull power when it reaches a specific boost level that is too high? Tha car has boost controler
    • Can you clarify what you mean by boost cut, do you mean it misfires both when under load (driving) and when stationary and out of gear? Or does the ECU pull power when it reaches a specific boost level that is too high (boost control issue)? Does it occur at idle with no throttle? When you say "the ECU is OK", what ECU is it and why do you think it is OK? Have you used the NEO ECU, and if so do you have a MAP sensor attached? Same for the AFM, why do you think it is OK? Do you have any way to put a fuel pressure gauge on it (even just a mechanical one between the fuel filter and fuel rail)?
