been looking at the Greddy copy plenums.. iv had a read of a few topics and no one seems to say much bad about them?

question is anyone got one? did you notice any difference?

and duz anyone sell them on these forums?

cheers

I got one on my stagea recently (lots of other stuff at the same time). It is pretty good for the price but there are some things to watch out for like making sure the manifold surface is dead flat before you put it on. and some custom stuff needed like throttle body mounting and cable, aac mounting etc etc

pretty sure just jap sell them

I had an ebay one on for 1.5years.

Never saw a problem. Weren't any defects in the plenum. Didnt have any cyl 6 problems.

But I wouldn't recommend one for a more extensive build.

i was assuming all of the chinese copy manifold were coming from the same factory? as none of them are stamped or anthing? some just polish them up or powder coat them.. are the ebay one just the same?

Unknown quality of the metals used means porosity is a real issue to be aware of.

Mine was stripped back for some extensive finishing work, but got a heavy coat of epoxy enamel before installation.

The Chinese supplied it with a heavy coat of paint probably for the same reason.

myself and 2 others i know are using them, the chinese greddy ones, and they all had water leaks. my one leaked from the water gallery out of the manifold, the other 2 leaked into a port. both No2 runner i think. We all used some of that devcon stuff that my mate aquired from work and gave the water port between No1 and 2 a thin coating.

well, a guy who used to be mates with mafia from here had one on his rb25 and it had the same shit water jackets and leaking issues.

i have personally sold over 8 of them in the last 12 months and had no problems or comebacks. only issue i had was that they dont come with new rubbers for the injectors, but that was a quick trip down to the local nissan dealership.

honestly, they come up really good, and come polished on most surfaces.

only thing that is worth doing is maybe port matching and cleaning up some of the cast markings, as it is only a china one...

www.autotecnica.com have a geezer anyway.

i'm not going to plug the store i work for, as they dont pay advertising, but its pretty easy to work out who sells autotecnica anyway.

    • That looks good, but I think you're going to need much beefier side skirts now.
    • They are daft and there's a reason it never caught on. Steering feel? We don't need no stinking steering feel!
    • I gotta pull you up on this. It's driving me crazy. A shutter is something that closes, like over a window or in a cmera. The word you want is shudder. That LSD is clearly f**ked. Take it to a diff shop and get it disassembled and examined by an expert. YOu might have plates welded together or something equally crazy.
    • Define "starting to fail". Wy not just rebuild them?
    • Check the Nistune doco. There are a few assumptions being made here that might not be valid. I will list the things that occur to me: Base map. Base map for what? Base map for Z32? Then the cranking pulse width is probably wrong for an RB25. The extra 500cc of capacity might well be enough to prevent it from catching. Base map for RB25? I don't think you can load one of those into a Z32. You have to just make the settings correct for an RB25 in the Z32 base map. That is either K or the TIM to get the pulsewidth right. Loom. You bought a loom for an RB. And you plugged it into a Z32 ECU. Did you make sure that any iwre differences were swapped. From memory, there's at least a couple. And as per the others, I would suggest making sure that the fuel pressure is correct while cranking and that the injectors are actually flowing as expected. They really must come out and go on the bench, unless you do find that you have messed up as per above points. I would also suggest watching in Nistune to make sure that everything is reading correctly. That the correct binary flags are raised at the right time (like the crank signal), that there's no stupid values in K or TIM. That you have not got mismatched firmware for the ECU and/or a wrong image loaded.
