Hi all,

My home in sylvania was broken into on wednesday morning. Luckily the thieves were interrupted, but not before they did a runner with a ps3, some phones and a set of car keys.

They were chased out of the place and we got a clear look at the get away car and plates (blue 3 series bmw with dark tint and big rims rego JQR **1 possibly JQR *01) but it later turned out this car was stolen a week ago.

Good news is that the keys were laser coded merc keys and they were updated the following morning, the bad news is i had to replace all the locks buy a new ps3 and have to start the games all over again

The po-po believe they are from "gangs" operating in sydney's south west who will go out and target areas all around sydney.

general opinion is that they were looking for a replacement car and thought they hit the jackpot when they saw 2 skylines and a nice merc out the front (please note i'm not bragging... the merc aint mine). They break in specifically when people are home so they can grab the keys, wallets and any other valuables left lying around. They got in by lifting a slider door off its latch, so if anyone else has a sliding for without a bolt, sort this out with a bolt deep into the floor or ceiling as its a sinch to get in even if its "locked".

So just a gentle reminder all, dont leave your keys, wallets and valuables lying around, even in your own home, take them with you when you go to bed and save yourself what could be a very big headache.

If anyone has spotted a car fitting the description above over the past week or so, let me know.

Bad luck mate... Sounds to much like London!

Sad thing is if you beat the thief near death because you catch him robbing your house, your most likely to go prison for it..

Don't you love the justice system sometimes...

I'm glad to be living in Perth.

And this is exactly why I'm very thankful to not be living in the South West. Sucks to hear man...

Cheers mate, one thing to note is that i dont live in the south west, i'm right on the coast, these guys roam FROM the SW to all sorts of places looking for places to knock over.

I know somone who did exactly that and got 3 months for it, plus good behaviour and it meant he lost his job and could not get a similar one because he now had a criminal record. Just for protecting his property and family. "The System" would prefer you let a thief do what they like and then "The System" will bring them to justice.....maybe.

How is beating someone near death for trying to steal some inanimate posessions justifiable? It isn't. That's why you go to jail for it, and rightly so.

If someone is threatening my family, then I will protect them however I can. If they're trying to steal my car / stereo / playstation - so what? I'd rather claim in on insurance and live to buy another one. Yes it's annoying (I've been robbed in the middle of the night) and you want to harm those involved, but that's no justification for taking the law (and somebody's life) into your own hands.

Some of you guys need to take a long hard look at the priorities in your life.

so if someone breaks into my house i just stand there and let them finish? to make it faster i may as well give them a hand and tell them them where all my expensive items are just so they can get out of my house faster lol. if someone breaks in, of course you will try and defend your home at all costs.

+1 thats why you should have insurance :)

you are taking it the wrong way, if the robber see that you have found them most of the time they would run with what they have.

If you start to chase them with a knife or baseball bat you never know if they have a gun/knife or mates around the corner, its not worth going after them.

Get them to leave and keep them away from your family plus call the police.

First thing i would do if i saw them is yell out "I have called the police" and make sure family is ok and still in the house then call the police.

If a criminal enters your home they are blatantly violating your rights and you don't know if they're petty thieves or completely mental. IMO as soon as they enter someone elses home illegally they should forfeit all of their rights. No option to sue for anything, no penalties for owners giving them a beating and maybe some of the deadsh!ts would learn a lesson or think twice before acting again.

i agree with that part, i wouldnt start chasing them with a knife or anything like that.

Trained Dogs FTW. not some idiot that takes food from anyone.

Cattle dogs, pitties, germans, dobermann, these are the tools you need to rip a thief a new one boys. dog woulda ripped the Kunt before you got outta bed.

"aww fcuk I broke into oldmates house and his dog took my balls your honour"

Good times for all.....

there are a few ways i can think of to make someone who breaks into your house who you've beat to shit have no leg to stand on in court (i made a pun).

you simply call self defense. the knife/crowbar/baseball bat/screw driver/spoon that is now embed in his scull used to be in the thief's hands, you acted on impulse and the burst of adrenaline caused you to do ninja styles, grab the weapon and plant him one in the face.

if your defense is something like 'i caught him and started laying into him' then you're screwed. whereas if its something like 'he came at me with a knife/crowbar/baseball bat/screw driver/spoon and while defending myself it ended up in his face' then you're pretty much sweet if you can STICK TO YOUR STORY.

its your word against his and at the end of the day he is just a thief.

    • Seat of the pants assessment of the new intake: The car is way less "doughy" when hitting the loud pedal, especially off idle when stopped or in traffic, I did use a cheapo lazer thermal thingo to measure the temp around where the pod filter got its air, it was between 55 - 60°C, in saying this the car was shut off and not moving, so the OEM intake pipe was not supplying any fresh air to where the pod was when the car was at least moving A weird bonus was induction noise on the throttle in the cabin increased a bit,  I was worried that I was actually going to lose some of that induction noise I love so much, outside though, when I got the daughter to do a WOT drive by pass for me, the induction noise has increased alot when on the throttle, not quite ITB doort, but well up there I'm extremely happy with the results and have been exploring the country roads in the region  As for house mods: 1.New front fence is up and is awesome, it really upgraded how the joint looks from the street, and the added security is nice 2. Electricians have replace some interior lights, and with more lighting in the garage, a few new motion detecting lights out the front above the garage, front room, and at the front door, which I have already found heaps helpful coming and going, also now has fancy pants CCTV all round the house The only hold point for power though is the solar and batteries due to supply issues, although this will happen over the next few weeks 3. I have done a heap of landscaping out the front and I'm almost ready to do a new small retaining wall with some nice blocks to replace the brick and cemented in rocks around the raised garden beds cemented in river stone "was the fashion at the time" the house was built. I currently have a pallet of retaining wall blocks and 2 bulka bags of 20mm blue metal to replace the wood chip that is in the raised garden beds around the house 4. I now have 3 big raised garden beds for out the back to grow some vegetables, about 70cm high, 200cm long and 100cm wide 5. My 2 compost bins are already pretty full with brown, green and kitchen waste from the landscaping I'vedone so far, but they will probably take a few months to break down, so anything else that gets chopped, trimmed, and kitchen waste will just start filling the base of the raised garden beds to about 30cm before I start throwing 40cm of good compost, and stuff, for the vegetables to grow in, I'll need a few ton of compost and soil, but the local supplier can sent me bulka bags of the stuff Basically the logs, wood chips and a few strategically placed rocks for drainage, will give the beds some good organic materials down low to break down over time, and they will hold moisture during the warmer months to save the water in my big arse water tank if we don't get alot of rain So, all in all, the car and house mods are going well, and I'm really enjoying being retired, I sleep in too 0700 and slowly plod around inside until I feel like actually doing anything, and only work in the yard for as long as want, which has actually been alot over the last few weeks,  although when you look at it, it seems that not a huge amount of work has been done,  until I look at the before I started the work pics Happy days and good times indeed
    • hahaha yeah. Plan is to get side skirts and probably just rear pods. But going to do them one-by-one. I've got a set that I really like from RHDJapen, but that one isn't shipped to AU. So need to find someone who can get it for me
