Ah fair enough

Not sure if theres any difference between the GTR and GTST clutches, but mine has a lighter pedal feel than my old exedy cushion button, isnt to much worse to live with every day (takes a little while to get used to but not so bad)

Bites damn hard, and has never slipped for me once. Going strong for over a year now.

I dunno what else to say about it lol

well there is quite a bit of difference, in your GTS under load or shock the first thing to let go is your 2 rear tyres, do the same in a GTR and if all 4 tyres don't let go then maybe something else will, for me that was the clutch followed by the gearbox ( heavy single )

to get the singles to hold that much power they usually make them with very heavy clamp ( doesn't always mean heavy peddle due to how they set them up ) my old heavy sprung centre single used to hit like a sledgehammer on the drive train if not babied, more so than the solid centre triple I run now..

maybe the NPC one will be different, good luck anyway

Oh I meant between the clutches themselves lol.

The reason I went NPC was because 2 of my friends had them in there skylines, One broke the gearbox before the clutch let go (was an RB20 but :P) and the other had a welded diff and used to thrash the hell out of his and had no clutch problems at all

I just like mine for the power level I'm running. If i was gonna go chasing 400rwkw or so I'd be getting a twin plate. But I cant say a bad thing about my clutch or the service. When I rang up about it, the guy I was talking to spent about 15 mins going through my options and giving me his recomendations. Clutch was express posted and got to me the next day. When I got my flywheel from them I had to send 2 emails and the flywheel turned up the same week.

Personal experience is a big +1 from me for NPC

thanks for sharing your experiences - interesting. What brand was your heavy sprung single?

It was one of Jim's. Tried a couple with no luck. Don't want to bag Jim out, he does seem like a good and very knowledgable guy.

I just didn't find the heavy single and AWD very agreeable, although there will be plenty of people out there on either side of the fencethumbsup.gif

Sounds like you'll be able to make your own decision soon enough

yep - I'll find out tomorrow. I still have the option of going back to the OS Giken twin if the new NPC doesn't meet my needs.

I am running the strongest NPC Clutch they make for a Skyline GTR massive billet twin plate with the uprated chevy spline rated to way over 1000HP, i can't fault it one of the best clutches around easy to use, cheap to rebuild and can handle loads of abuse, currently running 800awhp and handles it just fine drives like a normal car, we will be testing it to its limits next month when the car is back on the dyno and wind the boost up and make over 1000hp. I highly recommend them, i have bought the same clutch for my mate's Supra see how it goes.

    • I'm back from the dyno - again! I went looking for someone who knew LS's and had a roller dyno, to see how it shaped up compared to everything else and confirm the powerband really is peaking where Mr Mamo says it should. TLDR: The dyno result I got this time definitely had the shape of how it feels on the road and finally 'makes sense'. Also we had a bit more time to play with timing on the dyno, it turns out the common practice in LS is to lower the timing around peak torque and restore it to max after. So given a car was on the dyno and mostly dialled in already, it was time for tweaking. Luis at APS is definitely knowledgable when it came to this and had overlays ready to go and was happy to share. If you map out your cylinder airmass you start seeing graphs that look a LOT like the engine's torque curve. The good thing also is if you map out your timing curve when you're avoiding knock... this curve very much looks like the inverse of the airmass curve. The result? Well it's another 10.7kw/14hp kw from where I drove it in at. Pretty much everywhere, too. As to how much this car actually makes in Hub Dyno numbers, American Dyno numbers, or Mainline dyno numbers, I say I don't know and it's gone up ~25kw since I started tinkering lol. It IS interesting how the shorter ratio gears I have aren't scaled right on this dyno - 6840RPM is 199KMH, not 175KMH. I have also seen other printouts here with cars with less mods at much higher "kmh" for their RPM due Commodores having 3.45's or longer (!) rear diff ratios maxing out 4th gear which is the 1:1 gear on the T56. Does this matter? No, not really. The real answer is go to the strip and see what it traps, but: I guess I should have gone last Sunday...
    • 310mm rotors will be avilable from Australia, Japan, and probably a few other places. Nothing for the front can be put on the back.
    • The filter only filters down to a specific size. Add to that, the filter is AFTER the pump. So it means everything starts breaking your pump even if its being filtered out.
    • Just like in being 14mm too small (296mm) makes it not fit, being 14mm too big (324mm) it also won't fit. You want to find the correct rotor.
    • @GTSBoy Ok so that was the shops problem...they showed R33 rotors on R34 page and i did not know 296 do not fit(and are for R33) Yes i bought "kit" with rotors and pads. Pads are ok(i have GTT calipers front and rear). They have some 324mm but no 310mm. So i dont know if they would fit. I have 17inch LMGT4s So another question. Can i fit those in the rear or they are just "too" big for that?
