I have just searched and read up on fuel pump upgrades to suit, but not really discovered if a standard GTR pump (R34 to be exact) will suit 300-330awkw??

The only two options it seems is the expensive Nismo replacement, or the 044 that requires modification of the cradle and various fittings. Would like to know if the standard item is up to the task to avoid uneccessary mods. Anyone done it??

Yeah that is the right approach for sure, but the Nismo item is $500+, and the bosch is cheap but requires some hacking, CAN be noisey, surge, etc.

Just thought if the 34 item is a decent one to hold to it.

Installation of a bosch pump is hardly rocket science mate :ermm:

It is a very easy job, 30mins should easily see it done.

Installed correctly there should be little noise and certainly no surging.

theres also the walbro pump at around $160-180 which from my understanding requires no modification and flows the same as the 040

No where near the same mate.

A pump over HALF the size of another logically could not do that.

Numbers below (thread on this just last week)

Bosch pumps are not noisy at all when installed correctly, and the performance between the two is not the same. You only really need to put them side by side to see why, but here are some facts all the same:

Below figures are with 13.5v pump supply.

Bosch 044 pump is 330 litres per hour and supports 730 bhp at 73.5 PSI (0 580 254 044)

Walbro 255 "high pressure" is 56 gallons/211 litres per hour at 70 PSI (GSS340)

Speaks for itself. An 044 intank fitting I find is just as easy as the walbro, I have done both.

Ok my arm is twisted, 044 it is. Thanks guys.

I wasn't saying that it will surge or be noisey for sure, i mentioned CAN be in first post based on some feedback others had posted.

BTW, i had a walbro with rewired power source in my old mid 11sec GSR for nearly 5yrs and it never missed a beat. Granted it was noisey as all fark, especially after a long drive!!

The Nismo \ Tomie is about $380. It comes on its own bracket, and has its own sock and plug. 285lph at 75psi.

You simply pull the old pump out, and drop the new one on its bracket in. Fits like factory. You can feel the sock press up against the bottom of the tank.

My nismo is completely silent too.

Worth the extra $$$ IMO.

You simply pull the old pump out, and drop the new one on its bracket in. Fits like factory. You can feel the sock press up against the bottom of the tank.

My nismo is completely silent too.

FACEPALM!!!

He wrote about a 040 compared with a Walbro 255l/hr HP which have similar flow rates, you changed it somehow to comparing it with a 044...

Then you talk about it being half the size and not being able to flow similar because of physical size... NEWS FLASH: A 040 is also the same size of a 044, does this mean that they can only flow similar volumes?!?

Time to delete the internets, it's already filled with enough heros with bad advice :(

To the OP... there is nothing wrong with a Walbro GSS-342 for your predicted power. They are cheap and will flow enough, are very reliable, easy to install and are a lot less noisey than a Bosch

So what does the actual size of the pump have to do with it.

Yes the 040 and 044s are twice the size of a walbro but isnt the walbro the same size as a stock pump.

So i guess the walbros flow the same as a stock pump based on that theory.

having said all that the walbro pump will flow your power figure easily.

Yeah they may not flow the same as an 044 but they fit a hell of better into the standard cradle and are barely noticable noise wise.

    • Hello!  i just finished manual swaping my r34 skyline with a r33 rb20de box(RB71C)box  When the car is running it squeaks crazy loud and it was smoking from the gearbox area. The gearbox is fine it was tested. The clutch slave cylinder seems like it doesn't fully releases the clutch.     • A few small updates since the previous post and lessons. I decided to do a little interior light upgrade on the 110. I quite like the iilumo items, even if they're a bit of a premium over other brands. You'll also note the Stedi Fogs, that will go into the S15 fog lights as I needed to match the bulbs since I got the new ones earlier. I hope they fit as the body is quite a bit longer than your normal bulb.  Annoyingly, I managed to trip the fuse, which normally wouldn't be an issue until I located the fuse. I can't say I've ever come across this. I had lucked out that someone nearby had a spare, but oddly enough Toyota dealerships seem to keep this in stock. I ordered some to keep in my stash and as luck would have it, someone else nearby tripped the same fuse so I passed on the favour.  I also did a little service on the 110 ahead of some additional work coming up. It's been annoying that Goleby's stopped carrying this particular HKS filter for the 110, so now I need to keep them on order from Japan. I also took the opportunity to install a bash plate and number plate riser. The plate riser is such a cheap but nice fix to help really tidy up the car. I'm tempted to now also replace my headlights, on this car. Both items were from Project Aero.    I also needed to replace the rear tyres on the 110, and after trying to get it aligned learnt that I need to replace some bushes in the front end, so that's next.  Closing out this update with a nicer picture as always!
