Hmm ok

Does anyone know if the diagonal there to stop the main hoop bending down onto my head in a rollover or to stop it coming in on a side impact

spose i coult make it a X and be covered for both...

Thought id post my question here before starting a new thread :D

I’ve just received a bonds six point bolt in cage for my HR31 and am worried about the position of the diagonal bar on the main hoop.

With the cage assembled, it goes from the driver’s side bottom to the passenger side top.

Is this correct? I had a look in the CAMS manual and from the diagrams it looks like it should go the other way. Will it pass log booking like that?

yeah generally the diagonal in the main hoop goes from top drivers side to bottom passenger side. like you say it stops the hoop crushing in side impact and also protects your noggin in roll over. not sure why it runs the other way but it may be ok, or like you say to be sure you can make an X and be covered no matter what. the downside is the X severely limits access to the back of the cabin.

talk to bond about why the cage is like that. I'm sure they have a good reason.

cheers baron.

on another note, im about to respray the inside of the car and have noticed that most ppl go for white.

wouldn't black or a darker colour be less glary in the sun?

The bits that are actually going to glare (cage, dash etc) are generally painted matt black or covered in floc (mmmm sexy dash).

White in the interior is easy to clean, easy to maintain, easy to find bits in when you drop them :P etc. If you don't like the stark white, then a grey is not too bad either. Mine is done in a gloss grey POR that looks pretty good and is reasonably hard wearing.

the reason many people go white is purely for aesthetics. it looks nice. when you go black you loose all the detail in the interior in a sea of black and it does get hard to find dropped nuts etc. black also gets hot. grey is a good option. always a good idea to paint the cage the same as the interior as it hides it a bit unless you don't care in which case paint any colour you want. :P

    • Sorry to hear your HFM BM57 was faulty,  did you contact HFM I would hope they would be at least grateful for the information if there was some sort of manufacturing fault, you would hope they would be sympathetic even if your item was 2 years old if it had never been fitted. May I ask where it leaked from ?
    • Cats are called Bella, and Donna...  Like that poisonous plant And I remember your 2 monsters, I remember making a little bit of wee when you let them out... LOL I have already installed cat doors into the laundry where their kitty litter is, and the sun room, apart from the cat doors there's not going to be any permanent mounted stuff on the interior walls (interior doors are cheap and easy to replace) I will get a outdoor cat cage thingie once I finish the landscaping out back... https://catnip.com.au/ The only off limit areas are the main bedroom and the gym room....but, currently the cats are curled up in bed, in the main bedroom with the Mrs.....LOL, the off limits for the kittens to the main bedroom lasted about 5 minutes with Jackie I currently only have 1 free standing huge cat tree multiple level scratching post thingie in the lounge room, but, I will be getting another one soon now that I'm happy with the furniture layout in the back room and have a perfect spot for it
    • All of this is making it seem clear that running the Coppermix twin was definitely the way to go, especially in hindsight with how insane tariffs have gotten and the strength of the USD vs yen at the time.
    • That sounds like no chance of even importing one for road registering then Now I see why Duncan wants to check LHD rules for Targa...   I wonder how "bolt in" the AWD would be if you got one imported from the US and swapped it to an AUD one
    • Not to mention they drive like a bucket of bolts! yuck!
